It is a great table dating from the 1870s to 1880s. I am confident that it has had an overcoat applied at some point in its past, but it has a warm mellow touch to the medium walnut stain finish. The table consists of walnut and mahogany. It is all hand carved with the floral arrangements on the serpentine skirts and cabriole style legs. The four legs are joined together with cross stretchers in the center with a huge center finial that is an open cup. The overall size is 36 inches long, 26 inches deep and 30 inches high. The overall condition is good and tight. There are a couple of minute chips on the marble that we will detail out prior to shipping.

Very elegant and well build construction feels solid and sturdy and will support a lot of weight. Due to the cabriole leg design the table can fit in small areas because the diameter of the top is larger than the bottom which allows you to put an armchair very close ... moreto this table without creating crowdedness. The table is covered with a piece of green onyx and is pretty heavy. Item is in original unrestored condition and in very good shape considering the age. However as any antique item it shown some imperfections. Which just add a vintage charm and character and will not affect the value. The original gilding has some reticulated cracks. The wood has a few splits, some pieces of the ornate foliate design are missing. I appreciate this look and would not recommend to destroy such time marks with"restoration" The table is about 29 1/2" high and 24" in diameter at the widest point. Striking C carvings are above each of the four powerful curved legs with a substantial X stretcher at the base with a substantial finial at the center. for sale a great antique walnut center or parlor table att. thomas brooks. thick. Solid, and heavy construction as expected from brooks. it has the original insert marble top and the frame around it. some call these picture frame tables. the table has great form and beauty with buttons, medallions, carvings over the entire piece. the central pedestal pegs into the top support board with 4 pegs and then is bolted. the fours legs sit on their original brass casters. the marble is cut exactly to fit in the frame only one way, if you get it switched you will mess with it for hours and won't get the frame over the marble. the frame then pegs into the skirt and that only happens one way. i will mark the pieces for the new owner so they won't have trouble getting it together. i took it apart to clean it and messed with it for over 30 minutes ... moregetting it back together, so i did not take it apart to take any pictures. i should have done that before i put it back together. anyway, should anyone want additional photos, let me know and i can take it apart if need be. it is a fairly large table and nearly round. it is 36 inches wide, 27.5 inches deep. it sits 30 inches tall. it has great burl accents on the leg panels and skirt. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

Antique Victorian Baltimore Rococo Marble Top Center Table Signed Merryman 1840
This is a fabulous rosewood Rococo center table signed by a cabinetmaker out of Baltimore. The bottom of the marble is stamped twice by Oliver P Merryman. Cabinetmaker, Howard& Fayette St, Baltimore. The table is 53 inches long, 27 inches wide and 30 inches high. It has a unique color of marble on it. The carving on the table, especially the legs and cross brace is exquisite. Around the edge of the marble is carved trim of about one and one-half inches wide. Two of the pieces of trim, one large and one small have been replaced and are well carved replacements. The marble has been cracked in several places and has not been glued. I figured I would leave this to the new owner as there are various ways to handle the repairs. There is a brace installed underneath to support the crack in the marble. The brace is quite old and may be from the ... more19th century. Regarding the background on the maker this is information that was received from the Baltimore Historical society. This is in response to your request for information relating to Oliver P. Merryman, a Baltimore cabinetmaker. According to Gregory Weidman’s Furniture in Maryland, Oliver P. Merryman(fl. 1845-1861) specialized in‘first class cabinet furniture’ that won top prizes in the Maryland Institute’s annual exhibition. Biographical information in Weidman indicates that he had furniture warerooms at the corner of Fayette and Howard Streets from 1847-1848. I refer you to Weidman’s book, Furniture in Maryland 1740-1940(Maryland Historical Society, 1984) for additional information. Merryman’s works are pretty scarce and I suspect this may be one of the best pieces that he ever produced. This piece is available for pickup in Daphne, Alabama at our shop. Meeks Empire mahogany and marble top center table,
Beautiful old as found Empire marble top center table which I believe was made by Meeks. The concave pedestal and the feet are distinctive. The marble is original and has only some slight discoloration. There is some veneer damage on the base as I have tried to show in the photos. The buyer must pick this table up from my storage building within a week of the auction's end. I will not ship it. I have lost my lease and must vacate my building by August 1.
