It is truly a nice period untouched table. It has a ribbon mahogany top, round corner drop leaves, heavy bold column four legged base, solid cast brass Duncan Phyfe claw foot and built in castors. I normally don’t buy period furniture like this, but I was very impressed by how untouched this piece was. The overall size is 40.5 inches long, 24 inches wide when the leaves are closed, 15 inches wide on each leaf, 52 inches long when the leaves are flipped up. The finish is very nice for being 180 years old. It does show normal nicks, dings and scratches, but I believe it would rub out nicely to make a good presentation.

We have acquired the main body of the all the important furniture that graced this intact early 18th century estate. This offering is for an amazing heavily flame mahogany grain two drawer drop leaf on convexed eight sided tapered column leading to a four sided base standing on graceful Ogee Elephant feet. This fine work table is in wonderful condition only having some typical veneer loses around some of the Ogee feet's side profiles from crotched veneer flaking with almost 200 years of New England climate changes(an issue our woodworker will expertly address prior to this piece leaving ... moreour shop) and a slight warping to its top. without a doubt this is one of the finest thomas day tables i have ever owned. i have had a few of them and always sold them for a decent price. i have had a couple of swivel top game tables go for better than 3000.00 and just recently sold a tilt top day table for around 1800 i believe it was. A rather small table but as all of day's pieces, it was built to perfection. if you don't know about thomas day, you should google him, very interesting reading plus informative as to the quality of pieces he made. at any rate, i have for sale the only drop leaf game table by day i have ever owned and i must say it is as nice as any as i have owned. martin terry also a black man and an expert on antique furniture assured me that this is a day table. when you look at this table you can not take your eyes off of it. it has by far the finest mahogany ... moregrain i have seen on any furniture piece. it has a wonderful acanthus carved pedestal that is supported by expertly fashion legs that are mortised in and finally sits on very nice and proportional size claw feet. the table could be used as a drop leaf kitchen table, but the drawer which is hand chamfered and has hand cut dove tails is a drawer for poker chips, cards, and other games. it has 8 compartments. the table is very heavy and extremely well made. note the leaf supports, two on each side which are mortised into the table skirt with expert tooling work. also note how the legs are mortised into the base of the pedestal to perfection. the table is a great and convenient size, when the leaves are down it is( the center section alone0 24.25 inches wide and 39 inches long, and stands 28 inches high. with the leaves up it is a bit over 44 wide, 39 inches deep, and 28 inches high. this table you just want to stare at and rub your hand over. the finest grain ever and feels like satin glass. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange for shipping should anyone need help there. note, i just went over it with furniture polish but i see i fa

The top is of single board construction as are the leaves. The edges are reeded. Each leaf has two carved supports and three iron hinges. The skirt boards are dovetailed. The turned column is supported by reeded legs sitting on brass paw feet with brass casters. The bottom of the legs and column are strapped with steel and fastened with screws. The drawer has a craved out bottom for grasp. It never had a pull. It has hand cut dovetail joinery with a chamfered bottom. It has cock beading on the front and the secondary wood is oak. All three leaves boasting a perfect glowing golden mahogany waxed surface. The top and leaves are fully solid single mahogany boards, with no veneering or joining. This is an empire style drop leaf table that was either a salesman display piece or a childs. The table is made of mahogany and is 15 ½ inches high. 20 inches deep, 28 ½ inches across open and 12 ¾ inches across closed. The drawer is dovetailed and the bottom is hand chamfered. The nails are hand made. We believe the table dates to around 1820. It has wear on the top and a scratch on one of the leaves. The leaves work properly. I am not an expert(yet) but tables that are similar are called: Duncan Phyfe Style; English Regency period; from circa 1820 and are described as such: Regency Style base with brass paw feet; rectangular hinged drop leaves with rounded corners and routered edge; on 3 turned columns(base) each having 2 reeded splayed legs. You can look up similar tables by these descriptions for comparison. This has two table leaves for extending the size. It has some table pads/ protectors with one soft fuzzy side that goes next to the wood and one vinyl size that goes up to protect against moisture and spills. You would use a table cloth over the table pads. Ladies always used these. They would be very finicky about their wood and keeping things in pristine condition. This table has wear. Marking and scratches. It ... moreis not pristine. It is a good solid table. I personally would not refinish it. I like time- worn, imperfect pieces with history. If you put it in a beautiful room with beautiful decor and accessories the imperfections are not the focus. It is sturdy, well-made and beautiful. Crafted in a distinct manner to that of John Needles. Needles is well known as an artisan with significant output in the Baltimore. Maryland area during the height of the American Classical period. Labeled and documented works by the shop of John Needles are typically accompanied by unusually strong and nearly triangular reeding on legs or pillars, typically in tables though also found in large cabinets and sideboards. He was most active in the years of 1810-48, where the majority of his twenty-four surviving documented forms are crafted. The table is 29 inches high, top fully extended is 40 by 52 inches, 18 inches between the side legs and 24 by 40 inches when leaves are down. This pembroke table includes a convenient drawer with a solid brass handle. This table measures 38″ x 22″ with both leaves down. and 38″ square with both leaves up. Three factors have contributed to our rating of fair on this piece. Although it is still a sturdy and functional table. The top has sustained various stains and indents. The rosewood banding around the outside has developed crackling and crazing. Finally, the side with the drawer has some cracks. These cracks have not affected the sturdiness of the table but they are quite obvious. Despite these flaws this is still a very nice Pembroke table that would look wonderful in the right home. A view of the finished back. A very beautiful table from all angles! More detail of the stains and dings to the top. Here you can see the crackling of the banding and some of the stains to the top. Two supporting arms swing out on both sides to support the leaves. Antique/Vintage Georgian Style Drop Leaf Gate Leg Table w/ Turned legs Mahogany
For your consideration is this classic gate leg table. It is probably English. Turn of last century, and is solid mahogany. The top has a wonderful ribbon graining. And it is versatile as well as beautiful. With a height of 30" it can function as a dining table, a desk, a sofa table or even an end table. It can be compact(13" x 30" x 30"high in its closed position) or largish(30" x 42" x 30"high fully open. If you look at the last photo, you'll see how I used it next to a sofa in a very eclectic design. It was professionally refinished several years ago. And does show some signs of age, but overall is in beautiful condition with very minimal scratches or dings. It does have one dent on the top(about the size of a penny) that I attempted to photograph(see next to last photo.
