I am not sure if it has ... morebeen refinished or not as it appears to be in original condition, but it is great for the age. It has four dove tail drawer going down the left-hand side and four going down the right-hand side. The center drawer has round dove tail as expected from the Eastlake era. It has burl walnut trim on the fronts with an ogee bevel edge around the routed top. It has a black felt interior on the writing surface that is nice. The finish on the sides is amazing. It has panel sides, rope twisted molding, detail cast brass hardware, escutcheons are intact. There are no keys or locks. The desk is 48 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 30 inches tall. Condition: Used Location: Fairfield, United States We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole ... moreleg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

Colorado APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS: Height: 25” Length: 36” Depth(front to back) 21” This is a wonderful antique flat top steamer trunk made by Dethloff& Son of Denver. Colorado around the late 1800’s or may be the very early 1900’s. This trunk is clad in metal with wood slats. Decorative embossed gold hardware and canvas straps. The metal banding was used to strengthen them and for decorative design. All the hardware appears to be original. I have not tried to clean it, because some people prefer the original patina. Considering its age. I would say it’s in very nice condition. This trunk was used for its intended purpose. Note the stickers on the side. I’ll let the pictures do my description for you. You can see that the side leather handles are missing or torn. Also, one of the front canvas straps(right side in pictures) is torn in half, but, it’s still intact. The inside does have some spots, but, there is no odor. It’s rare to find the inside tray, but, it’s all complete. The next to the last picture shows a dent on the front top metal band. This is one of the most unusual and attractive antique steamer trunks I have found. Unusual design reinforced with multiple wood slats and copper detailing throughout. I acquired this particular trunk about 15 years ago and used it for awhile as an accent table with a glass top in my design studio. Although I am on the constant hunt for vintage trunks, this is one of the most unusual I have ever found and have held on to it for years awaiting another purpose. All wood construction with a multitude of wood slat reinforcements and copper straping with riveted joints throughout. Much of the original hardware. Including hinges, is intact but the front lock/latch ... moreand one side handle is missing. The interior is clean with remanants of an old paper lining that has been pealed away to reveal that the wood used in the making of the trunk was most likely recycled from antique wood crating. With one area showing an original stamp for the"American rubber company" I was surprised to see this and since this trunk is at least 100 years old, I think it is such an unusual and charming detail The trunk has probably had a coat of protective finish added to the exterior at some point and the wood has developed an aged and rich patina. There is a burn mark(see photo) on the left side. Indicating at some point in its history this trunk even endured some sort of fire, but is clean and undamaged otherwise. This trunk looks fantastic as is- I used it with a custom cut(very inexpensive) glass top for use as a coffee table. Either way. An absolutely stunning and historical addition to your design scheme! It's adorned with wood slats. Take notice of the stenciling on the leather trim attached with studs. On the inside you will see the original paper lining. It measures approx. 23 inches tall 32 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The lock on the front reads Eagle Lock Co. Terrville CT. It has a 1892 patent date on it. The lock has been pocked off. The inside still has its tray which removes easily. There are a couple of lables for Railway Express Agency and the initials A.M.F. on the side. As you can see in the photos it shows some wear. But has that look of history from all the places it has been. I am located in the western suburbs of Chicago, I have it as pick up only. Canvas covered trunk is a style that was made by many American trunk companies from the 1890's to about 1920 based on the style of the Corbin hardware. These were made in many sizes and models, with the same or similar style locks and other hardware. Corbin and several other lock companies made trunk locks for the trunk makers, but they never made trunks. Lots of these trunks are found without a label for several reasons, such as some companies didn't put labels on all their trunks and some used outside ... moretags or even labels on the bottom that were soon worn off or lost. WE BELEIVE THE BRAND TO BE DECKER. Some did use metal name plates or paper interior labels. These were used by men and women as general travel trunks. Leather handles. 31 lbs. For sale is a very nice antique wooden steamer travel trunk circa 1890- 1900. It is in great condition considering the age. The inside is lined in a light pink colored velvet. The top is lined in a floral fabric. It has leather side handles. It appears that this trunk belonged to a passenger that was traveling to the USA from Rotterdam. It has four wheels at the bottom of the trunk to move easier. This is a beautiful piece! Can be used as a coffee table or as a decorative storage chest. Super looking old travel trunk completely refinished. Measures 14" tall; 40 1/2" wide and 22" front to back. Good size for a coffee table- if you need taller could put rollers on bottom or put it on a frame. Has 2 coats of stain; one coat of poly for easy cleaning; new leather handles; new interior wallpaper. At one time it had leather straps all the way around- still has all the hardware but only has bottom part of straps on front. They just seemed to get in the way. Tons of hardware has a brassy finish and looks great. Buyer pays shipping, I ship UPS and it weighs 48 lbs when boxed. Good luck.
