Item# 120011RYI24 ... moreThis listing is for a remarkable and very fine Sheraton Pembroke table of the Federal Period. Crafted in New York during the first quarter of the 19th Century. It is a magnificent work, using the most incredible solid mahogany boards available for the overall presentation. Each leaf is a very broad single plank of full grained glowing mahogany, the middle most board a full 21 1/4" across the grain; each was flawlessly planed by hand until the surface was perfectly smooth, at which point a french polish was applied. This is a labor intensive and difficult finish to apply, layer after countless layer of shellac being rubbed into the surface by hand, but when done properly the result is breathtaking. The surface absolutely shimmers, the deep reds of the mahogany glowing through with utter brilliance. The leaves are notched and rounded. Giving an overall"cloud" form to each hanging surface, these lifting over hand forged iron hinges with entirely original screws. The top projects just slightly over the front, lining up perfectly along the sides such that the leaves rest squarely against the frame when in dropped form. One side of the table has a faux drawer with cockbead molding around it. The other side has a very deep drawer without cockbead molding, both having bold original polished brass stamped handles. This is an elegant federal mahogany game table circa 1880. This is an example of less is best with the simple elegant grace of the minimal but effective corner carvings. Slender but sutible pedestal, and classic carved paw feet. The table has an beautiful crotched mahogany veneer apron on three sides. The back is not veneered. The table is a good size that measures 35 3/4" wide, 17 3/8" deep, and 28 5/8" tall when closed. When open the top is 34 1/4" x 35 3/4" There is an age appropriate split in the base of the table but the base is a 2 3/4" solid piece of wood and the crack is only a surface crack. The table features Santo Domingan mahogany and mahogany veneers, with fine inlay, and a central frieze of rosewood, with stringing, and a border of birch. The table is a rather complicated shape, popular in New England) with the'cookie corners' particularly associated with the Boston area. The legs are ring-turned on top and then tapered and reeded. This is a good quality mahogany game table that I think is federal but it may be sheraton or even empire. I'm putting the age circa 1880 but it may be circa 1920. It is in that range age wise. It will go with a variety of styles. The table is very attractive with wonderful turned tapered carved legs front and back. The table is a good size. Closed the table measures 37" wide. 18 1/2" deep, and 29" tall. The legs are 25" from the floor to the table apron. federal 1800's inlaid mahogany hepplewhite card or game table original finish
for auction is a great federal inlaid mahogany hepplewhite game or card table. it was made circa 1800. i think the inlaid wood is primarily satin wood but may be some others as well. the inlaid is in the serpentine front. In the edge of the top and down the legs. none is missing as far as i can ascertain. the finish is original and shows a lot of crazing and cracking and some depressions, none of which are an issue, but if you are looking for the perfect finish, this one does not have it. actually the pictures don't show the finish well, it just looks kinda hazy, but anyway, it is old varnish and shows some minor loss in a few places, but again it is not enough for pictures to pick up. it has bronze or brass collars at the feet which are in good shape and the rivets are tight. this is the best hepplewhite table on the internet, but not ... morepriced anywhere close to those others. they start at like 8500 and go up. i have a federal and period furniture book and the hepplewhite card tables are prized in the book from 15,000 up to 541,000. in fact, my table is a dead ringer for the 541,000 dollar table. i don't want that much for mine, maybe half, or maybe 1 percent would be great. this table has hepplewhite inventory nos. on the bottom of the skirt which read 1579 A and i think 21. it also has written on the bottom of the table english mahogany. the structure and function of this piece is mint condition and perfect the finish is smooth and i just cleaned it with liquid gold, a furniture polish. there are two very tiny pieces of wood missing, about the size of a small finger nail clipping, if you can see them, they are in picture 2 and 4, but they are so small i don't think they can be seen. the right hind leg is a swing leg and supports the other half of the top when opened up, it works to perfection. the table is square, plumb, and level. it is 36 inches wide,36 inches deep when opened up or 17.75 inches deep when not in use. it is 30 inches tall. it has been in my aunt's deceased husbands family since i

American Federal Tilting Top Candle Stand or Side Table Probably New York. C. 1800-15 Item# 100007YRO11 The blonde mahogany wood used to craft this piece is of the best quality. Inordinately heavy and dense with a simply glowing well patinated refinished surface throughout. The top is a single solid board, rectangular in form with rounded corners, lifting over original cleats secured with hand filed screws flanking a square pedestal head. This retains the original brass catch, the underside of the table top with a replaced brass clasp of very close size to the original hardware, together forming an incredibly strong lock for a firm table surface. The pedestal is flawlessly turned, the bold vase baluster embellished with many crisp ring turnings- the quality of the turnings are of utmost quality and precision. The spider legs dovetail into ... morethe underside of the pedestal, these locked in place with a tri-form iron bracket secured with screws to the legs and base. Preserved carefully and simply stunning visually. This is a wonderful selection for the collector and decorator alike. Most attractive is the blond nature of the wood, not bleached or lacking color, but rather rich and full of golden glow throughout the entire piece. Fine American Federal Period Sheraton Pembroke Table New York c. 1810-20. Crafted of magnificent solid mahogany boards, entirely original! Item# 120011RYI24 This listing is for a remarkable and very fine Sheraton Pembroke table of the Federal Period. Crafted in New York during the first quarter of the 19th Century. It is a magnificent work, using the most incredible solid mahogany boards available for the overall presentation. Each leaf is a very broad single plank of full grained glowing mahogany, the middle most board a full 21 1/4" across the grain; each was flawlessly planed by hand until the surface was perfectly smooth, at which point a french polish was applied. This is a labor intensive and difficult finish to apply, layer after countless layer of shellac being rubbed into the surface by hand, but when done properly the result ... moreis breathtaking. The surface absolutely shimmers, the deep reds of the mahogany glowing through with utter brilliance. The leaves are notched and rounded. Giving an overall"cloud" form to each hanging surface, these lifting over hand forged iron hinges with entirely original screws. The top projects just slightly over the front, lining up perfectly along the sides such that the leaves rest squarely against the frame when in dropped form. One side of the table has a faux drawer with cockbead molding around it. The other side has a very deep drawer without cockbead molding, both having bold original polished brass stamped handles. The top is of single board construction as are the leaves. The edges are reeded. Each leaf has two carved supports and three iron hinges. The skirt boards are dovetailed. The turned column is supported by reeded legs sitting on brass paw feet with brass casters. The bottom of the legs and column are strapped with steel and fastened with screws. The drawer has a craved out bottom for grasp. It never had a pull. It has hand cut dovetail joinery with a chamfered bottom. It has cock beading on the front and the secondary wood is oak. In the middle is a small inlaid satinwood sectioned circle. Which is missing a few pieces. The base is constructed with graceful Saber legs and rest on small knob feet. Underneath the base you can see the hand forged iron brace, which is covering up the dovetailed legs. This is a tilt-top table and it retains it original brace latch. This work table has a very unusual faux drawer facing on its reverse side that identically matches the front drawer faces down to the tightly carved cock bead molded drawers. This work table has an equally unique channel carved tapered center column flowing down into Regency influenced stylized spider legs on its original caster wheels. It is equipped with a tightly chip carved base on the base of the center column. With four drop finials on each corner under the base of this work table it ... moremakes a powerful presence. This is a completely unique creation by Duncan Phyfe's shop. It is in very good condition and has been well maintained. There is one professional repair to the flame mahogany veneered top. One small profile of the center column's base appears to have been re-enforced in an old restoration with a dowel plug. It has a powerful all original finish& surface. You can see some residual from it being waxed in the carvings of the center column and in a few other small carvings cervices. This is a fine Federal period Circa 1800 estate fresh piece that has been loved and cherished by its previous owners. A very substantial investment was made in the maintenance with a very high quality restoration performed on its top plank. Solid tiger maple spices were placed on both ends of the table to address splits that had developed over the many years. This is a fairly common events in these pieces when the bottoms of the stock we not finished. The underside finishing and its long term stabilization is something Colonial furniture makers couldn't ... morepossibly know when they made their pieces. This restoration is in the form of two tiny"keys" splices) that were plugged into the table's center plank with remarkable expertise and care. Our policy is to leave them alone due purity issues and the substantial cost of performing such a museum grade restoration but this was the possession of a family who deeply cared for it. Used it and gave it loving care. They simply caught a slight warping to the top coming and took preventive action. This work was done more then a decade ago. The center started to warp after centuries of seasoning and the keys were plugged in to the top to cure that. The finish was left untouched and these people certainly knew antique furniture and made the investment in a"museum grade" work(restorations intended to be seen and not cleverly concealed) We make no apology or excuses for it. It breaks our hearts to see horrible hack work done on pieces. This was a several hour task performed by a restorer with the highest skill set. The Table consists of two separate Drop Leaf Tables which can be used separately as two smaller tables or as one very large banquet table. The tops of each of these tables swivels with its unique design to rotate and rest on the center of the base so the table is solid when put together. It has it's original locking mechanism which prevents it from pulling apart. The tops of each piece are made out of a solid 2 foot wide piece of Cherry wood while the base is made out of Mahogany and Flame Mahogany Veneer. The base is a classic design of the period and the legs connect to the original Brass Caster wheels for easy moving. This table is solid and was obviously well taken care of over the years. Antique gate leg table. This was an antique when my parent's bought it in the 50's and I believe it is from the 1800's. It has simple. Clean lines and one I found with similar shape was called"Country Federal" but people on line tend to make up what ever suits them. It has not been refinished and does not have any varnish or other type of coating on it. The top appears lighter than the sides- probably faded from light. It measures 26 3/4" high x 42 1/2" long by 15" wide when closed. It has one drawer in the end.

Outstanding antique Federal period tilt top game table circa late 1700's or early 1800's. The rounded square top of this table has been inlaid with a chess or checkers game board. Outlined with a delicate striped inlay border. The tilt top rests on a classic turned pedestal supported by a spider leg tripod base. The top of each of the three legs has been decorated with an intricate diagonally striped inlay design. The main wood of this tale appears to be maple. This is truly a remarkable period piece! antique meeks federal mahogany peir table, stenciled, columns, capitals on top
for auction is an outstanding antique meeks federal crotch mahogany pier table or petticoat mirror. it is in original finish. it has great grain and patina. i would say it was made about 1810 so it is over 200 years old. the stencil is near perfect except on the feet which shows wear no doubt from mops slopping against them. there is some minor veneer damage but not really noticeable and a couple of veneer bubbles on the base bottom which are solid and shows the same patina. no loose veneer that i see. the columns are perfect with i think are doric capitals on the top. They may be ionic. on the back of the piece where the mirror is the same columns are present but just a half portion. it has a casement crack on the base consistent with age. it has great claw feet in the front and turned bun type feet in the back. it is a great piece. i have ... morehad it stored for about 15 years. i moved and never did get this piece or several others out of storage. i have since been taking things out and cleaning them up and offering them for sale. i have no room for anything. i cleaned it with steinway furniture cleaner and then polished it with steinway piano polish. it looks quite well i think for being 200 years old. i do not know that the mirror is original, it is smokey and has silver loss. i had a new mirror cut but never put it in as the old one is fine with me. if someone wants the new mirror, 15 years old, they may have it. i am sure someone will ask if the marble is old, yes it is old, in fact it is old as any marble on any piece, doesn't matter if it was taken from the quarry 200 years ago or today. marble is all the same age. i have no way of knowing if it is the original piece of marble. i cleaned and polished the marble. the marble is supported by a coved frame top that is stenciled along the base of the coved frame. it is also stenciled around the mirror and other areas which hopefully the pictures will show. it is 44 inches wide at the base, about 46 at the top, 23 inches deep, and 39 inches tall. the marble top i

This beautiful table came out of the Estate of Ellen Ried in Vermont. Circa 1860 and measures 28 7/16" tall. 21 7/16" wide and the depth is 18 1/4" It weighs about 75 pounds, might be less. Features a Federal period 2 drawer sewing stand. Which turns into a gaming table when you open the top and you will see there are 4 board games in one including, checkers, chess, cribbage and backgammon. The wood is of beautiful fine burl walnut, all original hardware including the casters. The top drawer has compartments and then the second is the sewing bin with pleated material around the wooden bin to give it that declicate touch. Here is a magnificent real antique Federal period Hepplewhite inlaid mahogany games card table featuring a fold over top made of solid mahogany with string inlaid ovolo corners and serpentine front. The elegant apron features a crutch mahogany background with various string inlaid geometric shapes and an intricate inlaid border all along the bottom of the apron. The legs are also string inlaid with cuff banding at the bottom. A gate leg swings out to support the top when open. There are obvious signs of age. very fine and rare antique federal mahogany game table great shape circa 1810
for sale a very very fine early federal game table. it is in near perfect condition. it is solid and does not wiggle or wobble and the turn out leg is still as tight as the day it was made. most of my books are 25-30 years old and federal game tables not nearly as nice list in them from 2500-6000.00. i have a 2009 antique trader book that show this table and has it priced at 54.000. anyway, the avenue i have to sell anything is thru ebay which is probably the poorest market known to antique sales. it is 36 inches wide and 17.75 inches deep when the top is closed, when opened it is 36 by 35.5 inches for the game table top surface. as i said it is as tight as a fiddle string and very sturdy. it is raised on slender ring-turned and reeded legs ending in tall slender peg feet. most likely made in portsmouth, new hampshire. they used those type ... morelegs. many of the federal tables the legs are tapered square legs larger at the top and getting more narrow as one nears the floor. i have no hopes of getting 1/10 of what this table is worth on ebay, but i have so much i can not walk thru my house. antiques are a hobby only, i rarely make a penny on anything. it is my hopes to get what i paid for it a many a moon ago and that is where i am starting it. if a couple of dealers who have wealthy clients should see it and bid, i am sure it would bring 5-6K that is not apt to happen however. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck
