I normally don’t buy period furniture like this, but I was very impressed by how untouched this piece was. The overall size is 40.5 inches long, 24 inches wide when the leaves are closed, 15 inches wide on each leaf, 52 inches long when the leaves are flipped up. The finish is very nice for being 180 years old. It does show normal nicks, dings and scratches, but I believe it would rub out nicely to make a good presentation.

I'd like to tell you I've seen this sort of arrangement before. But never. This is a most unusual drop leaf mechanism. The tapered rod to which I am pointing is held in a spring affair and rests against the skirt when the leaf is up. Stretching it down a bit, until it clears the skirt, allows the leaf to drop. amazingly simple. In 20 years of peddling furniture, I've never seen another. I removed this from a solid walnut table that was so bastardized that it was impossible to tell which pieces came first and which ones started together. I saved the large wood screws and kept them in place with wrapped packaging tape. Soooo you are purchasing this unusual dropleaf mechanism. I am wondering whether some clever individual LONG ago invented this spring configuration by using springs that had another purpose and then never made another ... moredropleaf table again. Could be. One of the tapered rods has been snapped and glued. Really, were this some common bit of hardware, I would toss the pair, but they will make the best dropleaf, maybe replacing some horrid replacement hardware that someone put on thinking they were doing the right thing. If you are purchasing more than a single item. The calculator feature on ebay does its best and is occasionally accurate. The more you purchase, the farther off the mark the calculator can be. Having a very fine carved large center pedstral and with very fine caved legs ending with carved claw feet. See photo's Having the very best quality of the mahogany single board solid top and leaves. I have ever seen. This table top was most certaining cut from a ancient old mahogany tree. The stenciling is original the design is the same pattern on each end of the table as will around the lower center drum where the legs attach. Sheraton Period Dropleaf Table Mahogany circa 1810 Old waxed finish tea table
Very nice example of an early drop leaf table. Solid Mahogany top and legs. Thick crotch veneer on the drawer front and rear side. Nice leg detail in the turnings, no repairs. Leaves are each from a single board. Secondary wood is pine with the gates being birch. Hinges are three per side and all original including the screws. The rule joint on the left hand side hinge closest to the drawer has some break out( see photo) The drawer pull is a Chippendale style replacement(not period) Originally this was a single hole drawer pull. 29" high 38" long, 52" wide with the leaves up 21 1/2" with the leaves down. 19th Century Pennsylvania cherry dropleaf table
This table has been in my family for a long time. I have not been able to put a definitive style on it because it has Sheraton legs with an Empire drawer. American makers of quality furniture felt free to borrow this and that from European catalogues. Wood is almost certainly cherry(though I will say I do not guarantee it- could be maple) The wood is about 7/8" thick. The Empire convex drawer is a darker mahogany veneer. The proportions of this piece are very sweet. And the table is structurally sound. Preparing for the sale, I dusted it gown and put a coat of wax on it. That is all. As far as I know this antique table is 100% original. The table is 17" X 21" with the sides extended it is 35" X 21" The table is 28" high.

Antique primative dropleaf table with green paint below table, natural top
The table has tapered legs and some very old nails piercing the surface of the table that give it character. It is 43" wide when open and 42" long. The main top is 21-1/2" wide and a leaf is 10-1/2" wide. The table is 28" high. It is a lovely primative table that I have owned for 40 years and enjoyed it along with the chairs sold separately on Ebay.

This classical dropleaf sewing, work or lamp table has a hopper for needlework projects below two upper drawers. The original finish is remarkably well preserved. With expected wear, losses and touchups for antique patina, see photos. The top is matched flame grain. Made in the eastern U.S. Drawers have solid mahogany sides with hand cut dovetail joints and square cut nails. Gilt bronze pulls are of the period, but not original to this piece.
