It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. A beautiful piece to have and restore, or just keep it the way it is for history sake. I don't know much else about it, like the origin, or how many families it went through. This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Antique Dome Top Hump Back Pressed Tin & Wood Slats Steamer Trunk Herringbone
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique 1870's dome top/ hump back steamer trunk covered with pressed tin in a herringbone/ basketweave pattern. The wide tin mixed in on the edges has a pattern of tiny diamonds with dots in the center. The lid has curved hardwood slats and lots of heavy tacks holding all of the metal in place, the tacks are most likely brass plated. The previous owner painted it a shade of dark rust/ reddish brown so you will probably want to refinish it- it looks as if it could be sanded down to the bare metal and wood because the paint isn't very thick.We believe the metal handles seen in the photos are not original to the trunk, they were probably replaced with the black metal handles whenever it was painted. The handles should be leather and if you'd like to replace them(as well as the metal brackets that ... morehold them) you can find them reasonably priced at any trunk restoration site on-line(they even sell them here on Ebay) The trunk measures approximately 31" long X 20" wide X 24" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats and all of the metal on the trunk look to be in good condition. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. The key is missing and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two small metal lever-action clasps that keep it closed tightly in front. These are a tight fit and probably need lubrication but you can still get them to open and close. These clasps are stamped what appears to us to be' PAT MAY 1875' The inside of the trunk is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining- the lid has just a hint of the original chromolithograph and the border. This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. Antique Victorian Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood. The vintage antique trunk was found in an attic Estate and measures 26" long x 15 1/2" wide x 18" high and has embossed tin covering(see photo) The trunk has two latches and a lock(the key to the lock is long gone) The trunk is missing the leather handles on the side. The inside of the trunk has some of the original paper remaining. The bottom of the trunk has four wheels. The trunk is in fair to good condition for being over 100 years old.

There are no marks identifying a maker. The exterior has all of its original parts intact and a caster is located at each corner on bottom for easy rolling around. The lock includes a key and is in working order. Both leather handles are in place and in good shape. The interior and tray are lined in its original paper and the lid and tray both have nice color lithographs. It is being sold as found and needs restoration. It is missing one lid corner protector. The insert box and one support rail for the insert. One leather handle is broken and the other nearly so. 1800s ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HUMP BACK NICE DOME TOP CHEST TRUNK VINTAGE RESTORED
Here is a nice medium-sized trunk from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. A very well made dome/ hump top trunk or stage coach chest. We sometimes see these refered to as steamer trunks also. It is made of wood. Trimmed or covered with ornate embossed tin with a great geometric pattern to it. It measures 34" inches wide x 21 1/2" inches deep[front to back] and 24" inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor whether modern or antique. The trunk is constructed of a box with hardwood slats across the top for protection during shipping on all four sides and top. It has been restored with thick stitched brown leather handles which are identical to the originals and a new lid stay to hold it open– otherwise the trunk and all of its hardware are in their original. Just restored. Also has its original casters or rollers. ... moreThis trunk is solid and clean and has slight hint of mothballs. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed. Yet opens easily. This one actually has its original lock and key and is in working condition but to lock you need to apply pressure to the front of the hasp.
