There is a small break in the wood of the trunk in this area, where the bottom portion of the locking latch would have been located. There is a piece of the left latch that is also missing. The inside lining of the trunk is intact, but it is quite dirty, and there are large stains on it as well. The original label is still present on the inside of the lid but is very faded. The trunk is 9.5” deep, 13.5” tall, 30.5” long, and 22.5” wide.

Antique ca.1890 Flat top Metal Covered Steamer Trunk
This is a ca.1890 antique flat top steamer trunk. It is steel-covered that has been painted black and floral embossed dark green and bound with oak slats. All of the steel hardwear including the brass lock and the latches are original. The leather handles have been replaced. The key is missing. It has fancy embossed slat clamps and two fingered edge clamps. The bottom has four roller wheels. It is 30"x 18.5"x 23"tall and weighs 45 lbs. The interior which is all original and has not been touched. Is fitted with a lidded tray, hat box and three lovely victorian prints. The only part that is missing is the lid for the right hand box. The trunk has a broken strap on one side and the back of the truck has a hide missing(see photo) and the trunk is sold AS IS. The weight of the trunk is about 20 pounds and is all original with some of the tacks discolored and the lid is slightly ajar.

This is a nice antique steamer trunk for your collection. I purchased it with several antique dolls inside that dated from the 1880's. I am not sure of the exact age. As this is not my specialty. Antique 1800's Hide Covered Stage Coach Trunk
You certainly don't see these every day! This is an OLD 1800's stagecoach trunk. It can easily be dated as you can see in the photos that it is lined with the Portsmouth Herald newspaper from 1840. Covered in either horse or cow hide. The hide has begun to pull away as it has dried out over the years but the majority of the hide is still in place. Leather strapping and edging. It measures 27" Long, 14" Wide and 12" High. The top is domed. The top part of the lock is gone but the bottom part remains. The hinges that hold the top on are gone. The hand forged handles are still present on both sides. This likely would have been a security" box that held valuables or guns. Just a note of interest: It is marked on the bottom"3. JW Williams, Washington, VA" Washington DC would have still been referred to as ... morebeing in Virginia. If you appreciate western history, stagecoaches or anything from that era, this is a must have! My wife, a history professor, attempted to research JW Williams and found a couple of men that if could of been but we couldn't nail it down definitively. One was an evangelist who was ordained in 1841(very near the date of the newspaper) and another was a gentleman who did famous portraits of presidents. Metal-covered, round-top trunk that dates from the late 1800's. The trunk has a beautiful metal design of berries and vines. The inside has been lined with a nice victorian design fabric. All of the hardware is original, but the handles have been replaced. No key for the lock and unfortunately even if you had a key it would not lock. At some time in it's history someone has removed the loops from the back of the double lock(see pictures for detail) and it will no longer lock. This sweet little trunk is 18" long. 9" tall, and 10" wide and has a dome top. It is constructed with very early materials and I am not sure whether to covering is hide or paper. At some point a couple of hinges were added that actually had a more modern screw- but 99% of the nails( do not. I know little about trucks and their construction. Rare and Rustic. Antique Hide Covered Round Top Trunk- 1831! This amazing trunk dates back to when Andrew Jackson was president of the United States! Trunk is lined with newspaper from the Christian Intelligencer( April. 1831) The Christian Intelligencer was in publication between 1830 and 1920. It was printed and published in New York for an association of members of the Protestant Reformed Dutch Church. The trunk is highly adorned with brass nail heads. Steel plates and various types of leather. Hand forged iron handles on each end and a nice simple lock show off some serious craftsmanship. An old gouge repair is seen above the lock which was sewn with sinew. Condition is very good for the age and unbelievable journey this item has traveled. Uncertain what wood this is. Lid is still very straight with no major bowing or warping. Much of ... morethe soft. Deerskin hide has worn off, though some is still present in places. Unfortunately, the hide on this trunk has been peeled off, cut and removed in places. At one time the large brass nails spelled out the owners initials on the lid: SB" The hide is missing from the following areas: top middle section. the entire back and right side and the lower left side. We are guessing someone was looking to refurbish it many years ago? That is why these trunks are so rare. the ugly ducklings of history that get lost forever. There are no keys for the unmarked lock. The right front edge of the lid has split away slightly. Hinges were made of leather( present but long broken) Please see our pictures for more information on detail and condition. Fantastic original 1831 hide-covered stagecoach trunk has brass tack decoration and 19th-century newspaper lining. Original 1831 lining was in poor condition so it has been faithfully relined with authentic and interesting newspaper from 1891. Trunk is very solid and has original lock. But hasp is missing as well as the side handles. Also there is no key. Dimensions are 24" wide by 14" deep by approx. 10" tall.

This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! Antique Civil War Era Child's Paper Covered Trunk Excellent Condition
For auction is an antique child's(doll) trunk from the Civil war era. It is covered in figured paper and the covering is as complete as any I have ever seen. Only a small amount near the back hinges is missing. The original metal hinges have been replaced with leather ones but this modification was probably done one hundred years ago. The leather straps appear to be original and the nail holding one of the ends of the right side handle needs to be reclinched on the inside of the trunk. As is. It pulls through the wooden side when pressure is exerted on it. One of the more amazing features of this trunk is that the lock is still attached and the original key serves to lock and unlock it. Usually, the locks were removed and one almost never finds one with both the lock and the original key. It has one removeable tray and the original decoration ... moreon the inside of the top. The trunk measures 7" by 11 7/8" by 7" high. You will not find a child's trunk from this era in as good a condition as this one. Small Leather-covered Trunk with Brass Studs with Attached Oak Stand
Very charming. Very old antique leather-covered trunk with superb brass stud decoration. The box is secured to its own original oak stand. Its lock is broken but that doesn't detract from its charm. The leather is in good condition, free of any tears or rips, though there is some rippling on the sides. The trunk measures 18 1/2" wide by 12" deep by 15 1/2" tall from floor to top; its inside measurements are 17" wide by 11" deep by 8" tall on the bottom half. Rare antique hide-covered domed stagecoach trunk
This is a hide-covered stagecoach trunk believed to have come from Ellis Island. It is VERY unique and a rarity! The hide covering is thought to be cowhide. Although the hair length seems longer. The metal pieces seem to be intact as does some of the leather strapping. The trunk measures 31" long by 16 1/2' wide by 14" at the highest point. This trunk is a great piece of history and an equally great conversation piece!

Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk Embossed Tin Covered Floral Pattern Victorian
A sweet Victorian style antique steamer trunk from approximately the late 1800's. It measures 28" long X 17" wide x 22' high(at the highest point in the center of the lid) It's covered with a dark red/ dark rust colored floral patterned embossed tin and the tin is in very nice condition. It has a dome top with hardwood slats that are held in place with brass tacks. It has the remnants of a chromolithograph on the inside of the lid featuring a child holding a kitten but it's in poor condition. The trunk used to be lined with paper but most of it has worn off over the years. The bottom of the trunk has 3 plain hardwood slats running across the bottom over black tin and there are 4 small wheels(one on each corner) that make it easy to move around on any flat hard surface. The trunk is nice in dry inside and there are ... moreno moth ball odors. Just a dry dusty odor that reminds me of the attic in my grandmother's home many many years ago. The black banding on the lid sides needs repair and the hasps on the front do not close tightly because the lid does not fit properly. The leather handles need to be replaced and the original wood tray is missing. The locking mechanism in the center is very plain and it appears to be damaged. Please view all of the photos, they are an important part of the description. This decorative old trunk could be a worthy restoration project which will allow you to add additional storage to you home. There are several sites on-line that offer free advise on how to restore antique trunks and the majority of them sell the parts you'll need. Leather handles, etc. can be purchased inexpensively at these same sites and I believe they are also available here on Ebay. Nice Small VINTAGE FAUX LEATHER COVERED TRUNK Grip Child Travel Chest Miniature
This lot is a gorgeous little faux leather covered trunk. Probably dating from the early 1900s. It only measures about 14" long by 10" wide by 7" high. I have been informed by an ebayer who seems to have some expertise on old trunks that this piece is covered with fiber or vulcanized fiber. Which looks like leather but is much tougher. I'm not sure if this trunk was originally intended for a child's use or for a lady's personal items. But it is a very high quality, well made piece. Look at the last photo- Even the bottom is finished as well as the rest of the trunk! The original fabric lining is still intact. The only stone I can throw at it is part of the lock mechanism is missing, which is probably a blessing, because it's easy to lock yourself out of an old trunk like this. ANTIQUE EARLY 1800's LEATHER COVERED BRASS STUDDED WOOD BOX VINTAGE 19TH C. TRUNK A rare original. Early 1800's, small trunk or document box that is covered in leather and has brass studs. It has a lock in the front and a brass handle on the top. The inside of this trunk is what I love about it! There is the original paper lining with a printed man, in a top hat, riding a horse(of the period, see photo) The lid is held in place by the leather construction and there were never any hinges. This wonderful old trunk measures approximately 13" across x 6 1/2" wide x 5" tall(not including the brass handle) I have taken close up photos to show the condition. There is wear to the leather with one side missing most of it(see photo) The rest is crackled and may have a bit missing, here and there. It is missing some of the brass ... morestuds and the paper on the inside does show wear and tear. This old trunk is over 200 years old but is still mostly together! For your consideration is an antique. Small stagecoach trunk or large document box. This trunk dates to 1816 based on the newspaper covering the interior. The trunk has its original hide covering. Mid 1800's Leather Covered Small Trunk or Document Box Completely Original
This is a wonderful original leather covered document box or small trunk from around 1840. It has five leather bands and is covered with 76 large brass button head nails! There are an additional 15 on the bottom) The interior is original as well and has rare patterned paper with a small covered compartment inside. The trunk also has its original leather valance. Antique Wooden Tin Covered Hump Camel Back Trunk, Great Shape!
This is a beautiful antique steamer trunk. It is covered in very ornate stamped tin on all sides(and bottom) with wooden accents. It measures 30" wide x 17" deep x 23" high. Very little damage. Especially considering age. The leather straps are mostly gone, the two side latches are not functional, and one roller us missing from the bottom. Just a great show piece. Rare Victorian Leather Covered Jenny Lind "Loaf-of-Bread" Doll Trunk
We came across this Rare Jenny Lind Loaf-of-Bread Doll Trunk a short while ago. Dates probably from 1850-1860. It is 11 1/2" long. 7 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" tall. Covered, except for the bottom in red leather with white painted embellishments, and of course the very obvious brass studding which is characteristic of Jenny Lind trunks. It still has the original lock, but unfortunately is missing the key. Inside there once was a tray/drawer insert. The compartment in the upper part of the trunk retains a small early lithograph of what appears to be a Chalet beside a lake. Possibly indicating a European origin, but not necessarily so since Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightengale, would have toys such as this reflective of her home no matter where they were made. This trunk is relatively rare in that it retains its original leather covering. ... moreMost of those that come on the market have been stripped and refinished. Overall condition: The leather has darkened in many places. Possibly from some prior owners attempt to treat it with something it didn't like. The brass studs are all present, another unusual circumstance. The leather covering the rear hinges and the fold along that crease is cracked, and missing over one of the hinges. Internally, there is a stain of some kind oin the upper compartment. We believe the hpotos present an accurate picture.

Antique Document Box. This all original antique document box is from the early 1800's. It is covered by a canvas style cloth exterior. Trimmed in brass tacks. The handle ring is brass as well as the tacks. The interior is covered with a patterned paper and leather lid stay. The bottom also has its original pattered paper.
