The glass balls in the feet measure 3 inches across and the legs. At the widest point, about half way up, measures 3 1/4 inches across. This table is not marked. Signed, dated, stamped or otherwise labeled. There is a small dark stain to the table top that measures approx 4inches by 2 inches. A darker spot next to that as well but not sure what that spot is. Both can be seen in the last picture. There are no major chips. Cracks or other issues to any part of the wood. It is possible this is a Louis F Nonnast table made between 1878-1888. I do not know much about this size. Style or age. If you have any information that may be helpful to identifying this piece. I would very much appreciate dropping me a line or two. Local Pick Up is best for this large. Beautiful and well taken care of item. It worries me to ship it as I have seen very few table such as this. However. The way this is constructed, it appears it can be taken apart ~ legs removed and lower shelf removed, for possible shipping. Because of its size and weight. It is truly a nice period untouched table. It has a ribbon mahogany top, round corner drop leaves, heavy bold column four legged base, solid cast brass Duncan Phyfe claw foot and built in castors. I normally don’t buy period furniture like this, but I was very impressed by how untouched this piece was. The overall size is 40.5 inches long, 24 inches wide when the leaves are closed, 15 inches wide on each leaf, 52 inches long when the leaves are flipped up. The finish is very nice for being 180 years old. It does show normal nicks, dings and scratches, but I believe it would rub out nicely to make a good presentation.

Take a look at this magnificent piece! It’s a tiger sawn. Quarter sawn table– and I mean ALL over it– including the trunk, the legs, the claw feet, the rolled skirt and the top. It dates from 1900, in refinished condition. It has a split pedestal base with humongous claw feet and legs much, much bigger than normal, on a multi-turned fluted oversized column that splits in the middle, just like a Hastings, although I couldn’t find any manufacturer’s marking on this table. The table top is 54 inches round, with a rolled skirt, which means it isn’t flat but is concave, and really dresses up the table. The selection of veneer used on the top is the secret of this table’s beauty. It’s hard to duplicate this with solid wood, which is why they used lots of veneer back in those days. The veneer on this table top is in really nice condition, and there is only one spot you can see where there was a nick in a corner, which has been all repaired and is now fine. This table is all nice, tight and sturdy and ready for another 100 years of use, after being stripped, sanded, stained in a beautiful dark oak color that brings out the gorgeous grains, and then had multiple hand-rubbed coats of satin sheen lacquer applied for a durable finish that will last for years. Mahogany Parlor Table w/LARGE Glass Ball and Claw Foot Legs 1890's
There were many different kinds of parlor tables made in the late 1800's. But this one stands out for its impressively large glass ball claw feet, and large turned legs. The table is made of mahogany wood, and measures 25" square, and 29" high. The Glass Feet measure approx. 4' from claw to claw. There is intricate scrolling carved into the wood. The turned legs are substantial in size. The table is in excellent overall condition. With no damage to the wood or to the metal and glass feet, as the photos will show. The top of the table has an occasional light scratch that does not go all the way through the finish. The feet are 4 3 toed claw feet on castors with a solid(non split variety) fluted pedestal in gorgeous oak. The surface of this 48" oak veneer top is in excellent condition with no discoloration or major damage though there is a small chunk of veneer missing. It is not too noticeable and when you are using it you will probably have a table cloth so you wont even see it at all. The entire top might well be oak. They just chose to use quartersawn oak veneer rather than solid oak straight cut. The board that connects the two runners to the base has been replaced. The runners on the right side of the picture stick and do not open easily. I will Entertain any offers you would like to give on this table. It is a Mid 1800's Victorian Solid Oak Quarter sawn Lion's claw foot table. No Veneer what so ever. Solid oak. My parents bought this in upstate New York in 1945. As you can see. They really overbuilt things back in the day, and that is why it stood the test of time. It slides open perfectly, locks closed perfectly. It is tight and strong. No chips or gauges. All fastners are in place and are original. Large 48" round. This table was taken care of beautifully. It shows its age(Well over 100 years) as it has not been revamped as I know it. Always kept indoors and out of direct sunlight. I have leafs for it that are not original, but they are solid oak and work to extend this table to accomodate 8 persons comfortably. The detail is in incredible condition. The quarter ... moresawn vertical column is super thick and shows off well. The Claw feet are huge and hand carved. I hate to sell this, but I am moving into a place that is requires a different decor, so it would be a shame to just store this in the garage. It needs to go to a good home. This is a pick up only or, I can deliver it personally for a charge if a deal is made prior to its sale. So.contact me before you bid. This is an amazingly beautiful table. Top has been re-veneered and matched with the other shades of the wood. Bottom shelf is simply phenomenal(see pic)tons of flecks in the oak. Great. It is a Mid 1800's Victorian Solid Oak Quarter sawn Lion's claw foot table. No Veneer what so ever. Solid oak. My parents bought this in upstate New York in 1945. As you can see. They really overbuilt things back in the day, and that is why it stood the test of time. It slides open perfectly, locks closed perfectly. It is tight and strong. No chips or gauges. All fastners are in place and are original. Large 48" round. This table was taken care of beautifully. It shows its age(Well over 100 years) as it has not been revamped as I know it. Always kept indoors and out of direct sunlight. I have leafs for it that are not original, but they are solid oak and work to extend this table ... moreto accomodate 8 persons comfortably. The detail is in incredible condition. The quarter sawn vertical column is super thick and shows off well. The Claw feet are huge and hand carved. I hate to sell this, but I am moving into a place that is requires a different decor, so it would be a shame to just store this in the garage. It needs to go to a good home. The table features INTRICATE carved details on the top perimeter. There is an outer, pie crust" pattern along with a center veined leaf design. The inner border design features a carved/incised rope or barley twist accent. The table top is finished in a black crackled paint with silver paint applied to the leaf and rope patterns. The table pedestal is substantial in diameter and is accented with large, carved acanthus leaves. The table has four legs which are prominently curved. The legs possess carved acanthus leaves on their exterior profiles and carved scrolls on the interior. The legs are completed with wood, ball and lion paw/claw feet. Judging by the weight, it is probably oak or walnut. The painted finish has been BEAUTIFULLY done(not by us) and the table is quite gorgeous. The top appears to be designed for a glass cover to fit just inside the carved borders as this area is recessed/lower than the carved area. We have pulled the whole top apart and re-glued everything and sanded forever to get all the little nicks and dings out to make the table top smooth and exposes the gorgeous grains used. Each of the 3 leaves add 9" to the length of the table for a maximum length of 71" Table top height is 29 1/2" from floor. Top sits on a pedestal supported by 4 legs. Each leg is carved of oak and terminates in a claw with 5 toes. Claws sit on original caster wheels for easier maneuvering of the table. The table has a sliding and locking mechanism to keep the table securely closed at 44" or with 1. 2, or 3 leaves in place. The original label with directions for operating this mechanism is still in place. But in poor condition. The original Hastings Table Co. label is also present and displays the model number"No. 14301" But parts of the label have worn off. ... moreWe have never refinished this table or had it refinished. I do not know if it was ever refinished before we owned it. There are imperfections in the finish such as scratches and a water ring. The finish appears to be shellac. The table is available for inspection in Manasquan. NJ 08736. Free local pickup is available. Delivery within a small radius of Manasquan. NJ 08736 is possible if worked out in advance of the auction end and prior to bidding. This table is estimated to be more than 100 years old. As such.
