Very useable although has marks which would be commensurate with its age and use. The baize is probably original and is holding well although begining to fade, there is a split in the wood at the top of one leg which you may study from the photographs- this is stable and unlikely to cause a problem. There are some particularly delightful features to this item being the ball and claw feet, the shell design in the top of the legs and the neat frill around the table top. Along the sides of the interior are boxwood pigeonholes and other boxwood sections to store letters and documents along with sewing kits. Below the writing slope is another compartmentalized hand dovetailed boxwood drawers to store additional sewing materials. The lid features the original working lock and key. Beneath the sewing table drawer there is a pull out sewing box drawer constructed with boxwood and is in original condition. The front and the back of the box are also inlaid with floral satinwood. The table stands on solid turned walnut supports terminating in splayed legs with the original mug castors. A turned stretcher connects bots sets of legs for extra stability. This is an antique sewing table stand. It dates to the 1800s and is in pretty nice shape. There is one pull missing and the top is not flat. Im not sure if this is by design or not. There also was a fabric skirt nailed to the wood which was tattered so we discarded it. Please ask any questions before bidding and ask for additional photos if needed. Here is a magnificent real antique Federal period Hepplewhite inlaid mahogany games card table featuring a fold over top made of solid mahogany with string inlaid ovolo corners and serpentine front. The elegant apron features a crutch mahogany background with various string inlaid geometric shapes and an intricate inlaid border all along the bottom of the apron. The legs are also string inlaid with cuff banding at the bottom. A gate leg swings out to support the top when open. There are obvious signs of age. Such as scratches, nicks, etc. and areas where some small crutch mahogany pieces of veneer are missing(please see pictures for details) Overall the table is very sturdy and in excellent condition and features the original patina.
