It is a versatile table as it is a demilune that folds out to a round table. The table was designed to be used as a gaming(card) or tea table when expanded. The table is mahogany and features a beautiful striped mahogany on the table top. The top and apron are trimmed with brass. The table has 5 stationary legs when in demilune form. There are two legs that fold and lock into place under the table(see photo 6) When unfolded, the table has 7 legs. The five stationary legs have brass feet, the folding legs do not. The table is easy to fold/unfold and has a locking mechanism to hold it in place when it is unfolded. Antique Early American Birdcage Tea Table Cabrole Legs Pad Foot Walnut 1700s
Antique Birdcage Table This is a lovely piece of Early American furniture. This is an antique birdcage table. This piece came from the home of a serious 18th century antique collector. Who had a beautiful collection of primitive furniture. This piece was said to be from the late 1700's, but we have know way of knowing for certain. It does, at the very least, appear to be more than 150 years old. The top of this table does not tilt. But it does spin. It sits atop a pedestal base with 3 tripod or Cabriole legs with pad feet. The entire piece appears to be composed of walnut. The table measures 32 7/8" in height. The top of the table is 24 1/8" in diameter. The base of the table(measured from outer edge of foot to the outer edge of another foot) measures 17 3/4" This is in great condition overall with some small signs of age ... moreor use. The table top has some fading. And is a lighter color than the rest of the table. If you look very closely, you can see that something round was sitting in the center of the table for many years. There is a series of faint black splatter marks of varying sizes. There is a 15" diameter round void of these splatter marks in the center of the table. The table top spins with only a slight wobble. Upon close inspection, I noticed some thin cracks in the center pedestal. Some of these cracks are long, but none of them are deep. They do not effect the structural integrity of this piece. There are a few minor scuffs to the finish. There is one area on the table top that appears to be a moisture stain. It is present only when the top is expanded. In the demilune position, it is not visible. The front leg sits slightly off center and can be adjusted. Antique English Georgian Mahogany Tray Table Dovetailed Dining Coffee Tea Side
For your Bidding consideration in this Auction is an Antique English Georgian period Tray Table. It is made of beautifully grained Mahogany wood. Note the stunning grain on the single board top! The Tray has all hand dovetailed corners. There is a cloth material affixed to underside of the tray to help reduce scratching to the table top. Here are the dimensions with the tray sitting in place: Height: 22 3/4 inches Width: 28 1/4 inches Depth: 19 3/4 inches Weight: 20 pounds The condition for age overall is very good. A few things to note is there are 2 very old cracks in the tray itself. The table needs to be tightened up as it is a bit wobbly and the legs may have had some work attaching them to the table base some time in the past. I have not polished the table so is in as-found condition. Some scratches to table top, tray and the section ... morebelow as well but only surface related and may be fine with a good polish. The trim edge around the table top where the tray sits in has some damage at two of the corners as shown in the photos. Both on the same side. An extremely similar tray, without the table, just sold here on ebay for $125, and not in this good of shape, so I believe I have a fair Buy it Now price but am open to offers so let me know what you are thinking.
