Front drawer, faux rear drawer facing in original finish and first surface. This is a notated piece from a highly respected colleagues' personal collection. Pa. inlaid period Pembroke tables are exceedingly rare. This gentlemen was a Prince of our industry and we will all miss him dearly. The proceeds of the sale of his estate was all donated to various charities. Various museums were bequeathed over 100 of his tall case clock collection. We have some amazing pieces from his estate. Some we will keep to remind us of him and other's, like here, will be offered on this sales platform. Everything is original on this Pembroke table right down to the brasses. The original finish has some blemishes on it but we make no apology or excuses for it. We could clean the surface and rub this out but that would be entirely your decision. Ours is not to touch it. Item# 120011RYI24 ... moreThis listing is for a remarkable and very fine Sheraton Pembroke table of the Federal Period. Crafted in New York during the first quarter of the 19th Century. It is a magnificent work, using the most incredible solid mahogany boards available for the overall presentation. Each leaf is a very broad single plank of full grained glowing mahogany, the middle most board a full 21 1/4" across the grain; each was flawlessly planed by hand until the surface was perfectly smooth, at which point a french polish was applied. This is a labor intensive and difficult finish to apply, layer after countless layer of shellac being rubbed into the surface by hand, but when done properly the result is breathtaking. The surface absolutely shimmers, the deep reds of the mahogany glowing through with utter brilliance. The leaves are notched and rounded. Giving an overall"cloud" form to each hanging surface, these lifting over hand forged iron hinges with entirely original screws. The top projects just slightly over the front, lining up perfectly along the sides such that the leaves rest squarely against the frame when in dropped form. One side of the table has a faux drawer with cockbead molding around it. The other side has a very deep drawer without cockbead molding, both having bold original polished brass stamped handles. Inside of the drawer. A white label is affixed on the left side from a dealer who once carried the table"Edwin C. Ahlberg, Antique Furniture, New Haven, Conn" The drawer is hand dovetailed at the back, nailed at the front, chamfered on the thick bottom along the sides to rabbet into the drawer frame and is nailed at the back of the drawer with a modern nail. This auction is for what I believe to be a genuine Pembroke Table. It needs complete restoration to look great. I think the current finish is original. It has stains, chips out, needs sanded to be perfectly flat, etc. Has all the brass fittings you would expect. Great table, its about 36 by 23 with the ends down, 36 by 41 with them up. Drawer comes out, has the brass rollers on the legs. Belonged to an lawyer who had passed away, he used it in his office and did not take care of it as he should have. This is certainly over 100 years old, coarse wood used for the base of the drawer, well made, dovetail joints in the drawer, well made piece and would be worth significantly more if restored, in my opinion. I think the wood is mahogany but I am not good with woods, I know its not pine or oak, other than that my knowledge is iffy. Beautiful antique Pembroke table in mahogany. With two small leaves and a drawer in one end. This table also boasts gorgeous rope-turned legs and a warm patina on top, with all the old scratches, marks and slight depressions that show it has been loved and used throughout its history. It's impossible to reproduce this patina on modern pieces. The table stands 28 5/8" tall and its top. With both leaves down, measures 17" across by 34 3/8" wide. Each leaf is 11 1/8" so with both raised to their full position, the top then measures 38" across. The drawer has a brass handle(not the original) The outside measurements of the drawer are 11 1/2" across by 15 1/2" deep by 2 7/8" tall; the inside measurements are 10 1/4" by 14 1/4" by 2 5/8" respectively. Uncommon antique Eastlake drop leaf table in the Pembroke style. This piece has a gently curved table top with molded edges and squared corners. Each side of the table has its own drawer with an ornate brass bail handle pull. An applied fret-carved design accents the area under each drawer and is mirrored in the carved brackets below. The legs are braced by X-shaped stretchers with a simple pierced decoration. When extended. The hinged drop leaves are supported by slide out wooden pieces. This beautiful table is made from a fine-grained wood- most likely walnut- and has a medium dark finish a wonderful aged patina. The table is in good antique condition. The deep finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, legs have spiral carving. The drop leaves have a small warp, see photos. Antique 19th c inlaid Pembroke drop leaf breakfast table castors hidden drawer
A 19th century inlaid drop leaf Pembroke table on castors and with one hidden drawer. It measures approximately 28-7/8" tall and 44" wide. With the leaves folded down. It measures approximately 23-5/8" long. With the leaves open, it measures about 46-1/8" long. We do not know the maker. There is overall normal surface wear commensurate with age and use, including dings and scratches found commonly on antique furniture. There is some damage/loss to the inlay on both sides(see photos 9 and 10) and some damage to one of the hinges(see photo 2) as well as a drying line on the top(photo 8) The hinged supports for the leaves are dovetailed and the large hidden drawer is accessible from one side. A 19th century Pembroke table with one drawer and a false drawer on the other side. It measures approximately 28" tall and 37-5/8" long. With the leaves closed. It is about 21.75" wide. Each leaf adds about 10.75" so, a bit less than 43.25" in total with both leaves open) We do not know the maker. There is overall surface wear commensurate with age and use, including some of dings and scratches to the surface. Circa 1890 Mahogany wood Single drawer See description for full condition report This beautiful antique mahogany pembroke table was hand-crafted in Victorian England around 1890 and recently imported to our furniture store here in Atlanta. GA, USA. Over the years, the wood has developed a lovely patina that enriches the distinct, wispy mahogany grain and warm, lustrous complexion. This pembroke table includes a convenient drawer with a solid brass handle. Because this is a dropleaf table, this table offers great versatility ... morefor a wide variety of situations, and would make a great hall table when not in use for serving or dining purposes. This table measures 38″ x 22″ with both leaves down. and 38″ square with both leaves up. Three factors have contributed to our rating of fair on this piece. Although it is still a sturdy and functional table. The top has sustained various stains and indents. The rosewood banding around the outside has developed crackling and crazing. Finally, the side with the drawer has some cracks. These cracks have not affected the sturdiness of the table but they are quite obvious. Despite these flaws this is still a very nice Pembroke table that would look wonderful in the right home. A view of the finished back. A very beautiful table from all angles! More detail of the stains and dings to the top. Here you can see the crackling of the banding and some of the stains to the top. Two supporting arms swing out on both sides to support the leaves. These are the cracks by the drawer. A single brass ring pull can be found on the drawer. Square tapered legs are simple but elegant. The single drawer provides a little storage in the table. Both leaves up gives you a square table top
