This Auction is for a Small 1890's Child's ANTIQUE Steamer Trunk with Tray Trunk Measures: 16" Long x 10" Wide X 11 1/2" Tall at the Highest Poi nt This trunk is painted metal with wooden ribs.The inside is papered and has a tray. Condition: This trunk has been painted and the leather handles are missing.The tray shows much wear.The latch is not working and has been bent back so it will not catch.This was stored in the home of teh estate and comes from a smoke free enviroment. This is an old Hump Back Trunk. With a pirate l ook. It is original. As far as I can tell. The metal covering has some dings/dents and may have been painted at one time. Many moons ago(see pics) It has a little closing box inside the lid(see pic) T he opposi te side(on the lid underside) originally had a larger hinged closure too but is now missing. It had an inside tray at one time too.now gone. It has all the original hardware. Including little steel cylinders on the bottom for wheels. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Vintage Antique Wooden Hump Back Steamer Trunk
This item is a vintage antique woodden hump back steamer trunk. It measures 32"x 16" x 18.5" It is in very good shape. The outside is all original. It still has the original wooden handles. There are a couple of cracks in the top. But they do not take away from the character of the trunk.The inside has been lined with a mint green floral pattern. Antique dome top style miniature trunk. The small trunk may have been a child's doll trunk or possibly a salesman's sample. The brass lock has patent dates of March 69 and April 77. The circa 1877 trunk measures about 15 1/2" long x 10" wide x 12 1/2" tall. As pictured. The trunk has the original leather handles and interior tray. The exterior of the trunk has stamped metal with flower designs. The antique trunk is in original condition with leather intact handles and rollers on the bottom. No rust through was found on the metal. The interior paper has wear and the tray has old inactive insect damage. There is no other insect damage to the trunk. Only the back side of the tray. The hardware is gorgeous. Victorian style, trunk style is common or the trunks produced in the late 1800's, 1880's. Large dome. Camel back style. Not slightly domed like some. Very likely belonging to someone from an upper class, usually camel back trunks were bought by people from higher classes, they were more expensive and people bought them b/c they were more beautiful, and b/c they would be placed on the top when they traveled. Antique Immigrant Trunk Very Old Hump Barrel Back All Wood
Up for sale is a antique all wood immigrants trunk. It is a great antique trunk from the 1800's. It does show signs of aging wood cracked no lock in the front. The trunk is 44 3/4long. 24 1/4inches tall. The bottom is 18 1/4inches deep and the top is 23 1/2inches deep. It could use a good cleaning been stored for years. I will be listing this item plus other oak piece from a local estate. The owner was a refinisher. These were some of the projects that had never got done or even started. This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Antique Dome Top Hump Back Pressed Tin & Wood Slats Steamer Trunk Herringbone
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique 1870's dome top/ hump back steamer trunk covered with pressed tin in a herringbone/ basketweave pattern. The wide tin mixed in on the edges has a pattern of tiny diamonds with dots in the center. The lid has curved hardwood slats and lots of heavy tacks holding all of the metal in place, the tacks are most likely brass plated. The previous owner painted it a shade of dark rust/ reddish brown so you will probably want to refinish it- it looks as if it could be sanded down to the bare metal and wood because the paint isn't very thick.We believe the metal handles seen in the photos are not original to the trunk, they were probably replaced with the black metal handles whenever it was painted. The handles should be leather and if you'd like to replace them(as well as the metal brackets that ... morehold them) you can find them reasonably priced at any trunk restoration site on-line(they even sell them here on Ebay) The trunk measures approximately 31" long X 20" wide X 24" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats and all of the metal on the trunk look to be in good condition. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. The key is missing and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two small metal lever-action clasps that keep it closed tightly in front. These are a tight fit and probably need lubrication but you can still get them to open and close. These clasps are stamped what appears to us to be' PAT MAY 1875' The inside of the trunk is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining- the lid has just a hint of the original chromolithograph and the border. Antique Small Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather handles ... moreon either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. Antique 1800's VICTORIAN WOOD & CAST IRON HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK- MAJESTIC!!
Up for bid is an extremely rare and beautiful 1800's VICTORIAN WOOD AND CAST IRON HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK. This is a old wood trunk that is very majestic in appearance. It is beautifully crafted of an inner wood body covered in beautiful black metal sheet. Fantastic wooden bumper panels on all sides, even more so fantastic cast iron metal work of every latch, hinge, and edge trimming throughout trunk(including bottom which has small cast iron wheels) One of my favorite parts of this gorgeous trunk is the original 1800's lock and latch, it absolutely beautiful. Inside of trunk is extremely spacious and has a very clear, bold original colored illustration of a beautiful Victorian era woman starring off into the distance. The trunk itself measures at 34 1/2" long. 20" wide and 23 1/2" tall, and is what I consider, a larger ... moretrunk. It has aging wear but it has fantastically aged, could be easily used for display or everyday use as well as it is very sturdy and well built. Only thing to repair is one rear hinge that has broken from where it attaches bottom of trunk to lid, but hinge bodies on both lid and bottom are firmly attached to trunk with no damage, it is very fixable as it is a clean break of the thin metal of latch(See pictures) I have given a very accurate description of this astonishing steamer trunk and I have provided pictures of all angles for your viewing and bidding certainty. This is a great old child's or doll's trunk that I have been using as a storage piece. It is a domed or camel hump back top. With wooden ribs. There are are black metal bands with brads across the top, corners& sides. The think wooden ribs arch across the top and around the center circumference of the trunk. The inner structure of the trunk is wood with metal overlay- probably steel. The steel has been faux treated to given a bronzed/copper look. It is original to the trunk, not added. Some scratches on the surface. The original paper trays are inside with some decals. There is a little hook which allows you to open and close the inner"door" images 3& 4. The bottom is wood. There are 4 tiny little metal rollers on the bottom to slide the trunk. The trunk measures 12-1/4" high to the domed top. 10-3/4" deep, ... more18" wide. There is some overall wear very typical of the age and it's use and was definitely used by children. It is missing the lock latch. This piece has true character with age appropriate wear. It is called a Saratoga trunk which became popular with the wealthier class for those traveling to spas and to the Saratoga Springs in New York during the Victorian Era. It was a large domed top s tylewith fancy trim. Covered in either leather or metal. Early trunk ads and catalogs describe the Saratoga as"large round trunk of the highest class. It is believed that dome tops where made for those who wanted to have their trunks packed on the top of the baggage so as to avoid damage at the bottom of the heap. The chest is covered with embossed metal which has an ornate scrolling design. Solid wood slats reinforce the wood structure and add a beautiful design. The 2 rings on the front face with a date of 1840 and the names of the couple is a nice give away this is a pretty special find. Its has its flaws from age but this one is 100% Org. no touch up work done to it. It is all hand peg construction with a super nice hideing box on the left side. Some of these were made with secret compartments. But I havent had the time to look. The Handles the lock& the hinges are bold gothicstyle hand forged iron It is still useable but I have miss placed the pins for the lid. All the wood is in good condiion on all 4 sides and lid. Item 19836 is a vintage antique wooden hump back steamer trunk. It measures 30"x 15" x 16.5" It is in very good shape. The outside is all original. It still has the original wooden handles. The wood has some knots in it. But they do not take away from the character of the trunk.The inside has been lined with a mint green& red floral pattern. The lock was changed at some time prior to us buying it. There is a place on the front center bottom that has a damage spot shown in picture 2. Also there is an indented place on the top shown in picture 7. They do not take away from the character of the trunk.The inside has been lined with a green floral pattern. Antique Hump Back Steamer Trunk Wood Gold metal decor
Trunk is 32" wide.17.5" front to back, 22" to the highest point. Trunk is painted a gold color. Wood strapping is in good condition. Inside has been covered in a cream velvet with padding. Some of the studs holding the main latch are loose. There are no handles. The bottom is sound. There is no support to hold the top up, I backed it up to a wall for photographing. It is not heavy to carry. Would prefer local pickup, but will ship at your expense.

1800's Antique Domed Hump Back Steamer Trunk Treasure Chest w/ Wooden Tray This is a beautiful Humpback trunk and is of a smaller size than the majority I see listed. The overall dimensions of this truck are: 26" wide(handle to handle) 14" deep(front to back) 17" tall(at it's tallest point) Here are some additional details on it: The center latch is offset of center and looks to use a skeleton type key(keyhole in center) to unlock. I do not have the key for this trunk The latches to either side have a patent date on them of July 9 72(1872) which is awesome to have a date of any kind on a piece like this. Leather handles on each end have long since fallen apart but replacement handles are readily available. Tin and Copper covered with wood trim and accent. Wooden insert tray. Inside of trunk and the tray appear to have ... moresome type of covering on them and the covering coming off and is dirty. I am leaving them as I received it because I know some people want the trunk in original condition and"cleaning it up" can make it less desirable. All the metal accent pieces are present and look to be in good condition when you consider the age of this trunk. All four wheel are present on the bottom. Aside from that let the pictures tell the rest of this story. Being smaller than the full size trunks would make this a great addition to someones home and/or collection. It is a great piece and would be a fantastic decoration piece for a home or business. Although shipping this will be pricey I will ship this via Federal Express to the continental 48 states for FREE. Here is a nice medium-sized trunk from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. A very well made dome/ hump top trunk or stage coach chest. We sometimes see these refered to as steamer trunks also. It is made of wood. Trimmed or covered with ornate embossed tin with a great geometric pattern to it. It measures 34" inches wide x 21 1/2" inches deep[front to back] and 24" inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor whether modern or antique. The trunk is constructed of a box with hardwood slats across the top for protection during shipping on all four sides and top. It has been restored with thick stitched brown leather handles which are identical to the originals and a new lid stay to hold it open– otherwise the trunk and all of its hardware are in their original. Just restored. Also has its original casters or rollers. ... moreThis trunk is solid and clean and has slight hint of mothballs. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed. Yet opens easily. This one actually has its original lock and key and is in working condition but to lock you need to apply pressure to the front of the hasp. Beautiful antique trunk has been totally refinished. Metal was cleaned and re-painted; trim was cleaned; wood straps refinished with 2 coats of stain and whole trunk was coated with Poly for easy soap and water cleaning. Measures 16" front to back; 28" side to side; 21" tall at humped center and 19 1/2" at sides. Bottom of inside has new wallpaper; tray and top inside are in fair condition and original- still has great color. Handles have been replaced with new leather; built in rollers on bottom. Buyer pays UPS shipping. Weighs 44 lbs when boxed and I live in zip 43410 if you want to figure cost. Good luck.
