With a coloured lacquered wood floral design to the top and finished ... morewith a tassel. The top has the most lovely design of flowers and outlining in coloured and textured pyrography- where the wood was decorated with hot tools to produce a raised and textured effect. This box has a rather Art Nouveau look to it. The box has a little drilled hole in the side of the base. Through which fine string or ribbon can be threaded and then pulled out beneath the top, but it can also be used as a standard box for holding paperclips or small items on a desk or dressing table. The item is nicely made and has an old paper label underneath which reads"Au Printemps" So I think this was orignally sold in France. Condition is overall very good. Ut there is some wear to the green varnished areas in the top design- but this is still a lovely and rare piece. If used as a string box. I feel this would be best suited to thin string, thread or twine, as shown in the picture- and will be included with the box- rather than thick string. For sale is a 1950s 2 arm industrial Jielde multi angle articulated machine ... morelamp. The aluminium elbows have been polished. The lamp is in working order and comes with 2.4 metres of new flex but not the plug as it is a French one. It is in very good used condition with some very minor signs of use to the reflector's surface. The reflector has its original high temperature painted surface and still has the bulb wattage/voltage sticker intact. The switch is in the base. I have included the lamp's weighted vehicle brake disc base in the sale. These lamps are very sort after and nice examples like this are becoming difficult to find. The photos don't do it justice! The lamp takes a Standard Bayonet cap bulb(B22) which are available at all DIY outlets. Bulb not included. The maximum wattage is 150w. Jielde lamps were designed by Jean-Louis Domecq for direct mounting on machine tools and for use in workshops. The lamps have now become particularly fashionable for use in loft style apartments and in homes generally as desk lamp/floor or wall lamps. So, hence I have fitted a trailing flexible lead to make the light more useable in the home. I have displayed this light using a vehicle brake disc which provides a solid base to show a typical method of mounting the light. Heavy sprockets. Hardwood- anything heavy will do the job. The light can also be fixed to a wall if required using its mounting base/bracket which has 3 holes in it. Although the light isn't heavy, it will require a solid wall and sturdy fixings to mount it as the movement required to adjust the lamp to the desired position will put stress on the mounting. If you do not want the brake disc included in the sale, then I will discount the postage by £10. Dimensions: Maximum extended height is 110cm( 44" The shade dia. is 16cm. This is a beautiful solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1810.The figured walnut top is very rich and beautiful with its grain patterns,rich walnut tones and beauty marks. I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt.There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing, I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 200 year old black walnut. The drawer pulls are from a 200 year old dresser and are solid walnut hand carved pulls. The harp shaped end is gorgeous as you can easily see with its ... morecone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base.The slant top is fixed in position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer locks are missing.I restored all the drawers, carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage.The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in a room. The recessed flat panel sides are a great design. Adding to the beauty. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood,left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. Antique Victorian oak desk by Paine Furniture of Boston
This is a fine example of a quality Victorian oak desk. It was manufactured circa 1890 and sold by the Paine Furniture Co. of Boston. The desk is made from quarter-sawn oak with lots of detail. The condition is excellent with smooth working and well-fitting drawers. Over the desks history the finish has evolved into warm colors with great patina. I do have the key for the desk. Antique English Davenport Desk or Ship's Captain Furniture Orig Finish
Antique Davenport style desk purchased at an auction in New Jersey many years ago. It has original finish with green material(like oilcloth) writing area on top. It has beautiful graining on the inside with shelves and a small drawer. There are three pull out drawers on the right side as seen in the picture. They all have working locks as does the slanted top and the key is necessary to open the drawers as there is no knob on any of them. Desk measures 28 inches across the front. 21 inches back to front, 33 1/2 inches to the top of the small rail in the back. Solid Walnut...Antique Victorian Desk Victorian Antique Furniture...Circa 1840
Gorgeous solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1820-1860 I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth, yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt. There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing. I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 250 year old black walnut. The period solid walnut hand carved drawer pulls are from a Victorian dresser The harp shaped end is gorgeous and rare. As you can easily see with its cone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base. The slant top is fixed ... morein position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer lock mechanisms are missing.I restored all the drawers. Carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage. The desk is finished on all sides.It is a showpiece from all angles. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood.left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. Antique Primitive Painted Secretary Desk Victorian Shabby chest furniture vanity
100 yr. Old Painted Desk We have several old antique items to sell at my folks old house that I thought would best be liquidated here on Ebay. This oak secretary or writing chest is absolutely wonderful and is so much more attractive in person than the pictures. Every authentic antique painted piece of furniture of this nature is original unique and of its own beauty and this one is no exception. Green color is rich and deeper green in person than with camera flash. The green is likely an old oil based enamel or lead paint. The top surface is glared in a couple pictures appearing a different color but it is the same green color as the rest of the cabinet. The paint is not flaking or pealing but is still very strong adhering all over. Loads of character and charm. The whole piece is solid as a brick and not rickety or wobbly. I don't see ... moreany repairs or cracks etc. Typical wear that would be indigenous to this period and stature. I took a close up of damage on interior of the door around the drop hinge arm. Drawers function well and door closes nicely. I particularly like the shaker style going narrower to the floor as seen in the side profile. The detail in curvature of the drawer fronts is unique as well. There has been no back on the cabinet for many years. I have seen hundreds of secretaries in my days but have never seen this particular style before. This little cabinet is simply divine and could be used in so many rooms of a home to suite your taste. Antique Cylinder Desk Furniture in Texas
Cylinder Desk This is an antique desk that I had for many years and my daughter used it for several years herself but no longer wants. I believe it is a Eastlake piece. There are 3 drawers and when the cylinder top is rolled back it reveals a work surface which can be pulled outward. The work surface is covered with green felt. This allows you to pull up a chair and work at the desk. At one time there was another piece that was placed on the top of the desk but that has never been with the desk as long as I have owned it. Otherwise the desk is in good condition for its age. These are the measurements for the desk. height-41 1/4 inches. Depth 21 inches, width 35 inches. pull out 19.5 by 30 inches. Drawer#1 4 1/8 inches drawer#2 and#3 7 1/8 inches. The drawers are 30 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The hardware is in good condition as are the ... moreknobs. This is a local pick up only! That means you must drive to my home in Canyon, Texas to pick it up. Because of its size it can be used in a normal size home. Many pieces of furniture now are so large that older homes can not accommodate it.
