Ancient Clay Oil Lamp,Nice, Byzantine 5-7th Century, Cross on Handle
This lamp features a nice patterened top and the handle displays a cross which makes this lamp more valuable to collectors. Measures at 4" in length. I am told that this is a very nice example and the slip marks show. From the Byzantine period. You are purchasing the specific lamp shown here but I have others and can ship 2 per container. Check out my other offerings. Provenance: My father collected these objects while serving with the United Nations in the Middle East during the mid-1960's. I was a teenager at the time and recall how much he enjoyed collecting these lamps that were brought to him by the local villagers. He has since passed away and the family has decided to share them. I have not ... moregiven a specific date on the lamps as I am not an expert but the authority that we consulted did place each lamp in a general time frame to assist the purchasers. Our family had them authenticated by an expert in the field and you can rest assured they are the real thing. My return policy will give you time to have your item authenticated if you feel better doing that. I ship within 48 hours of funds being verified(often much sooner) as I travel most weekends. RETURNS: Only accepted if you find that the item can not be authenticated(at your expense) to your satisfaction.
