The bricks became popular all over the state, and the orders kept the plant running day and night to produce millions of bricks for many Texas buildings and highways, including Old Bankhead Highway(US 80) Austin's Congress Avenue, Fort Worth's Camp Bowie Boulevard, and the Galveston Seawall. For sale an antique Victorian large wall pocket newspaper rack fold out with heraldic blazon style decoration. I believe this is walnut wood. The burl of the pocket fold I believe is walnut. Beautifully carved with cote of arms motif. The frame has a 10" flying dragon on each upper side and leaves all over the frame, and one plain leaf in the center in case you'd like to personalize. The burl front pocket has"L" engraved. The rack measures about 27" x 18" The wood sticks out from the wall about 3" before opening the rack. Up for bid is an original architectural antique cast iron barn roof star. When this start was p urchased several months ago. It was in two pieces, mai nly because the barn it was removed from had collapsed. After removing the rest of the roof from the bottom of the star I cleaned up the area around the break and had it rewelded. Today it is in perfect condition. With only a m i nor amount of rust showing around the repaired area. The star is ready to be remounted on a roof or a barn or house. The star is approximately 10-12" high and about as wide. RARE antique parlor aquarium victorian conservatory architectural
Amazing 2 year restoration project of a rare 1890's Victorian conservatory/parlor aquarium. This aquarium would have sit in the parlor or conservatory(greenhouse) of a wealthy industrialist of the time period as aquariums of this type were expensive even back 120+ years ago. This beautiful aquarium is made of cast iron from the"plant shelf" down.The iron base has a beautiful swirl pattern with"faces in headdress" on each leg. The 10 gallon(approximately) hexagon aquarium is made from stamped zinc and the top filigree and urn are made from copper. The height is 58" and the width and depth is 28" x 28" The original aquarium probably had a steam powered air pump that sit on the shelf right below the plant shelf. I have this aquarium currently running with a new external pump and cartridge filter that is ... moreenclosed in a black steel powder coated"box" so as not to distract from the aquarium. I only know of 3 of these aquariums in my 35+ years of collecting these tanks. 2 of them I own and the other lives in Canada with another collector friend of mine. Restoration; Both of mine had the top zinc aquarium either missing or in rusted pieces. It took me several years to find a metal guy who took the time to make a pattern and replicate the aquarium from scratch and then we found a 125 year old tin metal ceiling company that looks like they made the actual top filigree and urn for this aquarium for the original iron company back in the 1890's! The iron base and shelf are are original although I added black slate on top of the shelf to hold the potted plants. original was wood( Painted to the original colors from the 1890's. 80 Sections of antique wrought iron fence, each section is eight feet long
I am listing for our local cemetery 80 sections of wrought iron fence. Each section is 8 feet long and 49" high. This is close to 640 feet of fencing. Almost all sections are in very good shape. One section is badly damaged as seen in a photo. A few sections have some damage as seen. This is a very old fence. The cemetery dates back to the late 1800's. I am not sure when this fence was installed. But it was a long time ago. We will keep this fence in place for the winning bidder to remove. About 7 of the pieces are fairly small and are what I call paper weight size. The restaurant began Downtown as Anderton's Restaurant and Oyster Bar at 151 Madison in 1945. A second location was added in 1956 as Anderton's East at 1901 Madison. Herbert Anderton. Closed the Downtown location in 1975 and consolidated the business into Anderton's Restaurant. His son later took over the restaurant. The restaurant had chefs who remained for as long as 50 years. Linda Anderton managed the front of the restaurant while her husband oversaw the food. Antique Late 1800's Pulley System Fence Stretcher Great Patina Farm Cabin Rustic
For sale is an antique pulley system with double hook and a clutch type brake mechanism. Other auctions indicate that this may be a fence stretcher. I am not an expert and don't know the exact date of manufacture, but there are a couple patent markings, one says Jul 9 89, and another which is not very legible but the last digit is 94, so was made most likely after 1894. All moving parts move freely but I have not tested this with rope. The pulley without the brake would be mounted at a fixed point and the other would be used to lift items in a barn or shop, but would also make a nice decorative piece. The patina is vintage and I do not see any major oxidation. The fixed pulley has brown paint on it which may be original or may have been added later. The center section is recessed and backed with a beveled mirror and has a marble top vanity with the original porcelain sink. Below are 2 small drawers and a cabinet faced with carved doors. To either side are the closets. They are faced with beveled mirror doors with a drawer below each. The 4 legs have fluted pilasters topped with columns. Corbels, and finials. The pediments are loaded with carvings. Ornate moldings, spindle work galleries and in the center a peaked crown with carved sun rays. This is one of the nicest closets I have seen and it is very unique. It is made of walnut and is currently painted. It is in very decent co ndition. There are misc. light scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. One foot is broken off and has some loss. Each block measures 36" wide and 19 1/2" high and about 1/2 inch thick. Would be an erotic accent over a tub or a bed or a unique piece over a fireplace. Antique millstone or grindstone is great condition! The stone is 29" in diameter. The square hole in the center is 4.25"x4.25" wide, and the stone has a thickness of 6" The stone doesn't have any significant cracks, chips, etc. The stone has a couple slight surface chips/scratches which is to be expected for it's age. Fretwork Victorian 1880 Fancy Stick & Ball Architectural 70" long x 20 1/4" tall
Up for Auction I have an Antique Victorian Fretwork Wood Gingerbread Stick and Ball Spandrel Arch. I was told that it was taken out of an old bank that was in business in the mid to late 1800's. It was part of the fancy Tellers window. It does come in two sections and each section can stay stationary or swing from side to side. The wood is Oak. Best used at the top section of a double cased opening. Will add such charactor and charm to any decor. There is some slight damage to the piece if you look at pictures 5& 6 one small ball is missing and a few sticks have been glued back onto arch. If you look at the over all picture. It is not very obvious due to the busy pattern. I never expect a piece of this age to be perfect. It also looks to me like one of the sticks has been replaced in picture 4.
