Presenting: Rasmus Danish Modern Glass Front China Display Cabinet Hutch Fantastic Teak finish Lighted upper cabinet with glass shelves and glass doors Base cabinet with slide out drawers on the left side The top cabinet sits on top of the base cabinet and you can use the base cabinet separately as a credenza if you so wish The base cabinet is 61-1/2" wide x 19" deep x 32-1/4" high overall The top cabinet is 58" wide x 15" deep x 39-1/4" high overall The whole thing is 71-1/2" high, Condition Details: It is in great condition overall. It looks very nice. If you look closely for flaws. You'll see the following issues. See the pictures. The top cabinet has a few chips to the edge of the vaneer on the left side where it comes in contact with the base cabinet. The finish on the left and right sides has some wear. Kind of like fading or weathering down toward the bottom. This is more visible in bright light. The base cabinet has several scratches on top and one good scrape due to the top cabinet being pushed around when put on top or adjusted over the years. The majority(including the scrape) is hidden by the top cabinet and what emerges out from under the top cabinet faded quite a bit when I applied Old English polish. Check out the pictures. The right hand cabinet door was pulled off and reattached at some point. This can be seen if you're looking for it(see my picture) The door looks fine. There are a couple hinges out of adjustment on the top cabinet doors as shown. The lights all work. The left hand one has a push switch. We installed 60 watt bulbs because that's what we had on hand. Period brass tear drop pulls and pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being popular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. It sometimes includes mild Renaissance and medieval influences that do not overwhelm the design. I recently moved from an much larger house and really do not have the room for this any more. This is HEAVILY carved and EXTREMELY detailed. The top section comes off for moving. But the bottom half will require at least 4-6 men to move it. This piece has 7 locking doors. 4 drawers and 9 beautifully carved unique outdoor scenes. There is one shelf running the length of the top and one behind the doors on the bottom. This is all hand-made. It truly must be seen to be fully appreciated. I am not sure of the age. But one professional assessment put it in the Elizabethan period. There are no obvious markings indicating origin or age. Overall the piece is in very very good condition. There are two areas of damage. On the very top there is a crack and some damage on the underside of the top concealed behind the right pillar.
