It has been used as a family dining ... moreroom table since that time, and thus has a few very small nicks on the edges, and a few very tiny, shallow use indentations on the top. Custom pads(included but very worn because of age) have been used so it has been very well protected. The pedestal has vacuum marks that can be removed, and the pedestal bottom has a few minor shallow nicks, again from daily use. Very well cared for over all and presents well for its age, late 1800's- early 1900's. It is Solid Cherry, thus a very heavy piece. The top has a built-in fold-up mechanical extension that is manually released with a pull-pin on one end and rotates up to be opened out,the two halves of the table top slide to open and close for the process. The finish is natural cherry wood that has aged. It is NOT stained mahogany like so many of today's pieces. This is a true natural cherry finish. The top is 58.5 inches long x 40.5 inches wide without the extension open. Height of table is 30 inches The pedestal base overall footprint is 35.5 x 31 inches. Diameter of turned legs on base: 12 inches at widest turn. Side drop of table top: 3.25 inches Antique Pedestal dining tables in good condition do not come on the market that often! Measures: 14 3/4" Long. 10" Wide and 5 1/2" Tall As you can see from pictures it needs TLC Crack in top. Some wood missing off back and one of the Velvet lined covers has come detached from metal bracket. Couple of pieces of Mother of pearl inlay is missing but could be replaced. It does have key and does lock. Also the ink jar, wax sticks and instrument to hold them Also one piece of vintage paper seal. There are three Wood pieces. One to cover compartment and one longer piece that slides into an compartment. I do not know what the longer piece is used for but obviously it belongs with it. What a wonderful piece to restore and call your own. As is but will accept return if not satisfied. Thanks for Looking!
