The top of the chest has an angular bevel at the widest end. The corners are all worn and there is a small white paint smear on one side. The banding is partially gone from the shorter end. Centrally positioned, the hinged door measures 11 x 10". This has the macabre look of a coffin, but the centrally located opening would make that use awkward. The overall pie shape of the trunk implies a very specific use, and comments are welcome as to possible purpose.
