someone has been bugging me to list this twin bed set for 3 or 4 years so i consented to do so the other day when he called. doubtful he will buy them. But they are offered for sale at this time. this is what is known as a show stopper. i have been piddling with antiques for nearly 50 years and have never seen or owned a better twin bed set. here we have an r j horner twin bed set created by horner in his french style. they are of course mahogany with the finest grain you will ever find on a furniture piece of mahogany. the beds are thick, that is the head and foot board. they have wonderful form and beauty and are as you can see carved to death. the high boy as you also see matches the beds. the high boy is just the very best and will take your breath away. it is serpentine in the front as well as the sides. the beds have high dollar box ... moresprings and mattress. they do not go with the set, but i would sell them at a very discounted price. i have about 1000 each in the box springs and mattress including the comforter set. i would sell them for 300 each if someone buys the set and wants them. to my knowledge no one has ever slept on them. i have 8 bedrooms up stairs and really don't have many overnighters and i don't remember them ever being used. at any rate, should you buy the set, these can go with it for 600.00 on top of the sale price of the set. i have the box springs and mattress sitting on slats that attach to the bed rails, should you want the top of the mattress lower, the box spring and mattress can rest on the floor between the rails and lower the top about 10 inches. the mahogany grain on the beds and high boy is not to be surpassed, it is the very best. the condition of the set is mint, but i can't say mint because it is over 120 years old and must have a few little bumps and bruises here and there but none noticeable. it is museum quality however. the rails fit into the head and foot boards with dowels and are then bolted together within the rails and it is as solid as ever and does not wi

The mirror appears to be the original glass with deterioration from behind which is typical of old mirrors. Could be easily replaced as back panel slides out easily. We replaced the dull gold dralon panels with the more up to date and contemporary regency red panels and apart from this minute cosmetic improvement the piece is the same as it was when it was constructed approximately 117 years ago. There is a minor black mark to the work top(see pic 10) but all in perfect keeping with age& use. A superb quality piece made by one of the greatest cabinet makers of the 19th century. Antique Solid Mahogany Chippendale Style Low Dresser w/Arch Pediment Mirror
We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique mahogany dresser with matching mirror. The maker of this piece is unknown and we believe this dates to the late 1800's- early 1900's. The dresser stands approximately 36.5" high. The width is 21 5/8" and the length is 46" The mirror is made from solid mahogany and has a beautiful broken arch pediment at the top with an applied carved design in the center. It measures 35.5" high to the top of the pediment. The width is 24 7/8" across the ached top and th emain body is 23.75" wide. Made from solid mahogany the dresser has a classic Chippendale style design with applied carved moldings on the bracket feet and reeded columns on the front. The dresser has four drawers with a divider in the top drawer. The drawers are all dove tail jointed and also retain the original ... morebrass pulls. The dresser appears to have had an early refinish job done on it. There are age and use appropriate scratches and dings on the top and feet. As well as a small white spot on the top. There is a small crack on the top left edge. There are also what look like fingernail marks behind the pulls. All of the drawers are tight on this piece. This is a structurally solid dresser. American Empire Antique Wig Chest Dresser Crotch Flame Mahogany~Marble Top 1825
Here we have a very Rare Empire Dresser for your consideration. This is a very fine Wishbone Mirrored Dresser with side wig curio cabinets. These dressers have always been the Cadilac of Empire Dressers. But this one is one of the finest we have ever seen. The burled or Flame Mahogany is fantastic. The colors are just beautiful. We do not have the exact history. But the party we bought the dresser from, told us that this dresser was saved in Katrina from the Huricane in New Orleans. It was transported north and sold to raise money for the people who once owned it there. We bought it from the next party who purchased it. The dresser is of such fine quality, and has all original parts. The only thing it may need is some new screws in the back when the wig cabinets mount. At the moment it is all assembled and they were not needed. But when the ... moredresser comes to its new home, that is one addition we would suggest is new screws in the back area. The wood on every side is pristine on this piece. The only thing you would find is normal wear from a dresser of such a grand age. All that is needed is a nice polish and this piece is ready to set up and be displayed with pride. The dresser is 77" tall by 43" wide by 21" deep. The mirror attaches on each curio side with wooden screws and original knobs. The drawer fronts have the carving at the top and bottoms and the matched grain of the wood is outstanding. This piece could be by the famous cabinet maker Thomas Day. As even the sides of the dresser have fantastic matched graining. The hand made dove tails and brass locks, are all top notch and fine quality. The marble top inset is beautiful thick Italian Marble with nice grain and detail. There are no chips, nor cracks on the marble. It could use a polish from a marble professional. But the patina and wear only adds charactor to the piece. I believe it is empire style. It measures 8 1/2" wide by 8 3/3" high by 4" deep. drawers are all dovetailed by hand and square head nails used for the other parts. There is grooves on the top drawers where I believe there was a mirror at one time which has been long lost. It is missing one pull and I don't know if they are original. One leg is missing in the back. the piece does have a piece off of the front edge of the top. I believe it is the original finish with wear from the years. antique r j horner mahogany swan head cheval mirror heavily carved ball and claw
up for auction is just about as nice of a antique empire heavily carved swan head cheval mirror as you will find. i listed it as r j horner. it has a mirror frame like horner and actually the carving and swan's heads are like horner's pieces. But the piece was made in the south. horner was in new york, the northern folks used acanthus leaves for their carvings, the southern ones used tobacco leaves. well this piece has tobacco leaves. it is possible that horner did this special order for someone in the south or who had southern sentiments. at any rate, the carvings and details can not be surpassed. if it is southern empire it was probably made about 1870, if it is horner special order it was probably made about 1890. i hope the pictures give the descriptions of the details of the swan's head and other carvings on the base and ... morethe double stretcher. the feet are ball and claw at their best. it is 74 inches tall, 36 inches wide, and 25 inches deep. the mirror frame alone is 65 inches tall by 29 inches wide. great piece and in wonderful condition, the only defect is a few small chips of veneer gone on the edge of the frame and a couple of small pieces on the top. the wood has been stained and if i didn't tell you, doubtful you would ever know. nothing can be seen when using the mirror the way it should be situated. otherwise the piece is in mint condition, the small chips i mention just to be 100 percent accurate, they mean nothing, can not be seen, and take nothing away from the structure or function of the mirror. the item may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck. i just bought a meek's 5 piece parlor set and have no where to put it, so i need to clear out a few items to make room for this stanton hall set. by the way, i looked at the pictures on the listing, one of the veneer chips can be seen in the last picture of the close up of the swan's head. the chip is right above the neck of the swan which is above the glass knob of the mirror set screw. there ar

for auction is a wonderful federal heavily carved mahogany vanity built circa 1850. this is a great piece has wonderful claw feet with winged extensions all the way around. layaway available on any of my listings should anyone have an interest in that. up for auction is the nicest empire vanity i have seen in all the years i have been messing with antiques. i bought this not long ago and have it in my dining room as there is no where else to put it in my 20 room house. i have another one in a bedroom upstairs that i will list shortly. hopefully it will sell and not this one as i want to actually keep this one. anyway. I have seen a dozen or so of these, but none this nice. it is serpentine, heavily carved mirror harp, pedestal, feet and wings, along with carved roping surrounding the vanity top. the mirror shows some fog, which does not bother me, i can have that corrected for about 100.00 should someone want that accomplished. it is free from damage or repairs as far as i can ascertain. i think the knobs on ... morethe two serpentine drawers are original as well. this is a wonderful empire piece made around 1860 or so i think out of the most wonderful flame mahogany as you will find. the piece has wonderful patina and is gorgeous. the pictures do not do it justice. it stands 49.5 to the top of the mirror, it is about 30 inches to the vanity top and 22 inches deep at the widest point of the serpentine top. it is 44 inches wide at the back of the top and 38 inches wide at the front of the top. shipping will be the buyers responsibility. you may arrange a carrier, or i will do it for you, or you may pick it up at my home. if the carrier requires a crate, i will build it for the cost of the material and will not charge any labor. the material will cost about 50.00 for the crate, if required. i need to sell one of these vanities, don't have room for both. i am starting this at probably all it is worth, but if you want the best, this is for you! i bought it because it was the nicest one i have seen in years and years. i doubt you can find another one like it, and if so, it will be expensive. i will be glad to answer any questions or supply other pictures upon request. good luck

Antique Vintage Mahogany Sleigh Bed High Boy Wood Dresser W Mirror
Very very old. I think it is original stain. I know the plats on the side of the mirror have been touched up. Very nice and heavy. Top left drawer has a crack inside the dresser(see picture) Takes Skelton key to lock- I don't have but easy to find. Rare piece. Hard to find high boys with mirror for this style.
