This is a terrific set of solid mahogany empire style dining chairs that probably date from the 1940s or‘50s. Our shop has re-glued them and tightened them up. Scuffed them down and restained them to match the mahogany round tables we recently refinished, and we’ve left the antique wine colored original seats. The chairs have really nice cutout backs, big center splats, and they are really sturdy and heavy duty. Period empire chairs are usually pretty fragile, but not this set! These are really well made, probably by a company like Biggs. The only thing I can see wrong is that a few of the seats have minor wear and water spots, but they are easily recovered. The chairs each measure 18.5 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 32 inches high to the chair back, and 18 inches high to the seat. They are pictured with a beautiful empire claw foot banquet table, so if you check out the rest of the site, you can see what they’ll look like around a period mahogany table. Other than some minor nicks and dings, these chairs are in great condition.
