Antique Mahogany Small Vanity Chest With One Drawer, Hand Dovetailed, Circa 1825
This diminutive antique mahogany chest was probably a vanity or jewelry chest for a man with one drawer and original brass handle. It is mostly handmade with a hand dovetailed drawer. Hand chamfered drawer bottom and hand sawn arch ends. The front of the drawer appears to be burl. The front of the drawer and front legs are reeded. I would date it as early 1800's. The chest is 10 1/2" wide by 7 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" tall and in perfect original condition with no dents, cracks or scratches. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Antique Hardwood Cottage Chest with 6 Drawers
This is an Antique. All original hardwood cottage dressers with 6 drawers and a storage area with door. The piece is hand painted in off whites and grayish colors with hand painted greens and orange floral prints. The piece is a true antique, held together with the dovetail method that was used during that time period, the 1800s to early 1900s area. The handles are antique black with white knobs that hangs down loosely. The colored paint and floral prints are still in very good condition, but the white foundation paint looks rather distressed with some discolorations that have occurred over time. However, with a good paint job, you can turn this into an amazing one of a kind piece. Or, if you like distressed furniture, you can leave it just the way it is. Unique and Stunning antique Mahogany and Birch Chest on Chest Highboy c. 1860's
I am offering up for auction a very beautiful antique chest on chest Highboy that was handmade 150 to 175 years ago. It is very unique with the 2 tone coloring and the intricate sunburst type design on the bottom drawer. I think this 2 tone coloring is called banded. The sunburst or compass rose type design is actually concave creating a half circle indentation. It is 6 feet 2 3/4 inches tall. It measures about 18 1/2 inches deep and 43 3/4 inches wide across the band below the very top. It has varying widths due to chest on bottom then a"waistline" so to speak( 45 1/2 inches) where 2 chests meet then the chest on top then the top piece of trim which is the same 45 1/2 inches as the middle. As you can see from the photo it is loaded with drawers! There are 3 small on top then 3 long ones below that makes up the top chest then the ... morebottom chest is 2 drawers then 2 larger drawers. I am not an antique expert. But I took some of the drawers to a well established reputable antique dealer in our area and it was said that it was a handmade piece of furniture probably about 150 to 175 years old made of mahogany and birch. The drawers are dovetailed as you can see in the photos. It has the bracket style feet. I am not certain about the hardware on the piece. The hardware looks old but the screws that hold them on are not, so the screws have been replaced. Each drawer(10) has a place that looks like a key would fit in to lock them, but this is just for decoration. It is in excellent condition showing only a few blemishes on the feet and around the bottom edge as I have shown in the photos. You will notice that the top and bottom mouldings appear to have been done in sections. We believe this was intentional and it does not appear like repairs. The wood has developed crackling over the drawer fronts and top surface. This gives the chest a distressed look and provides character and charm to an already lovely dresser! Other minor dings and marks can be found here and there as you would expect from something of this age. Overall this burled walnut chest of drawers is in very good condition. The serpentine front is framed by corner full round columns having carved Egyptian capitols, the front feet carved claws. Original oval brass pulls, oval brass escutcheons with all locks, no key. Drawer interiors are maple dark stained mahogany. Chest measures 5' 60" tall by 3'5" 41" wide by 22" deep. Very good plus condition: original finish unworn, top surface with minor scratches or tiny ring spots. Some talented woodcrafter made it and the bottoms of the drawers and the boards on the back are handhewn. It is walnut and even though some of the boards on the back have been replaced they are walnut also. The drawer runners have been replaced so that the drawers work easily. Other than than and the back. It is all orginal. The top has had some minor repair that is shown in two of the pictures. The piece has 4 drawers, top one extends out over the rest giving it a very elegant look. The top is 45" wide, 21 1/2" deep at the top drawer and 20" deep the rest of the way down. There are 4 drawers as you can see, roomy. I show a picture of the dovetails on the drawers, also the inside of one of the drawers with a knothole. The top has a polished, beveled, beautiful mottled marble slab. Chest measures 56" tall by 34" wide by 19" deep. Antique mahogany inlaid travel dresser case, chest 1700's? 1800's
Here we have today is a lovely antique mahogany travel dresser case. Chest from sometime between the 1700's-1800's. Not sure of the true age of the piece or where it was made, it just came with a note which read Georgian mahogany dressing case c 1780. Case has nice wood inlaid, it is 13 1/2" long, 10 1/2" wide and 7" tall. Piece has a main compartment with removal mirror, eight in laid boxes, two glass jars and lots of storage space. There is one main tray that can be removed. There is a bottom drawer which opens up and has a top lid. I could not get the drawer to go all the way back in and there is a crack to the wood bottom of the drawer. The lining of the case is cracked, all of the boxes are in good aged condition, no cracks to the removable boxes, the glass bottles have no cracks, there are some small chips to ... morethe edges, the mirror is in really good condition for it's age, and the pin cushion and other fabric covered pieces have wear, rips and spotting to the fabric. Box shows average wear for it's age, There is some inlaid missing from the top, there is a crack along the top, scuffs and scratches, but everything is tight and nothing is coming apart. The brass handles are tight and box once had a lock to it, but the key is long gone. There is a chip to the bottom front edge of the box, and fading to the wood at the ends of the box. This case is still a really nice antique piece which would be a great addition to anyone's collection.
