Crafted of solid cherry wood throughout all primary surfaces. The case is crafted entirely using dovetail joinery, noting the sides which lock to the top with a half-blind dovetail, covered with a fine molded rim; the bottom mirrors the top construction, and the drawer divider bars dovetail into the face of the chest. These are of only partial depth, not full dustboards, typical of New England designs as it lessened the overall weight of the chest. The facade is four graduated drawers with bold batwing brasses, each replaced using nearly the same holes, the brasses of the same age as the chest. The drawer construction shows exquisite attention to detail, note the channeling along the top of the drawer framing, a design characteristic of Massachusetts(though also seen throughout other New England states) The sides of the chests wear fine brass carrying handles, each of magnificent proportions with original hand forged screws locking them to the chest. They are likely added to the chest, though since the chest would not have had brasses on the sides of the chest to start with this is difficult to prove. The chest rests on scroll cut bracket feet, mostly original with mostly original blocking, the right side of the feet replaced in exact replication of the rest of the chest. This is a gorgeous piece. A visual delight and crafted with utmost attention to detail. The cherry boards have a wonderful jagged flamed grain with just a tinge of the soft red hue associated with a natural cherry. With a clean overall appeal and a deep patina glowing through the high polish finish, this is a piece that will enhance your living spaces. Signed"DB 1923" on the inside of the uppermost drawer. Please viwe the slideshow here: Neat little chest of drawers comprising of three nail constructed drawers with hand chamfered drawer bottoms. Resting on turned feet, and a mirror in classical empire style frame. the entire chest is washed over in a red wash stain or paint, and the drawers are outlined in a gold or yellow paint banding. the sides of the case are painted with the same yellow/gold painted banding. the drawer fronts are sold walnut, and the rest of the case is constructed of pine. 100% original condition. great original aged patina, in a warm red colour. no hurts or major damages, aside from minor ... moredings associated with 90 years of use. Nice small Japanese hand Planed Chest / Altar with 3 drawers above two doors
A very nice small oriental cabinet. Altar, chest made of softwood(pine? with pieces of figured hard wood(elm? on the front. The surfaces are hand planed and pegged. This piece is on nicely carved legs supporting a cabinet with three pegged drawers on top above two doors with butterfly like hinges(note 1 drop is missing from the left drawer-see photo) Top has scrolled ends. Front joints reinforced with original metal fittings. This pieces functions well on a table, on the floor, or in a special niche, It measures 24 1/2 inches high by 34 1/2 inches long by 12 inches deep. Left side and back have an age split. Vintage Wood (?Mahogany?) Flatware Chest w/brown anti-tarnish lining, 3 drawers
Large Beautiful Dark Wood. possibly Mahogany? finely crafted Silverware Storage Box/Chest with unique brass hardware in a contemporary style. 3 drawers. Each one lined with brown anti-tarnish cloth. Has a similar look to chests advertised by Oneida and also some from Crate and Barrel. But I have not been able to find one just like it. Some nicks and signs of age on the outside of the chest and the handles. They hardly show in the photos. That's how small they are, but please look at the pictures carefully so you know what you are buying. Measures 19.5" wide. 12" deep, and 8" high. Each drawer is 2.25" deep. This light brown chest of drawers is solidly made. It is 18 inches deep by 36 inches wide by 33 inches high. It is very heavy due to the quality wood and the marble top. It has been in the same family for 60 years. The year it was made and the manufacturer are unknown because there are no markings on it. The front drawer where the marble top is visible is as light as the rest of the dresser shown in the other photos. All the knobs are included. Some will need to be reattached.
