Ex.Rare Ancient Byzantine "GREEK FIRE" Hand Grenade With Display Stand 1000 AD.

Ancient Medieval Bronze Catholic or Jesuit Priest Signet Ring 14th to 15th C.
For your consideration is a fine Medieval bronze signet ring that dates from the 14th to 15th century. The ring depicts the letters IHS. A crusader type cross, and what seems to be an olive branch. IHS is a monogram for Jesus Christ that has been used since the first century. The Roman Catholic Church is most known for using it; although a lot of other Christian sects used it as well. Such as in Byzantium, and later in The Russian Orthodox Church. This ring measures 19.5mm on the inside diameter. Cursory cleaning was performed to get the debris off of it from excavation. And to be able to read the monogram and other etchings, but the inside was not touched. This ring could be fully restored further or be left as is. It is fully wearable. And in great condition for it's considerable age. It still makes a fairly good seal! Thanks for viewing ... morethe auction!

Ancient Byzantine Medieval Niello on Silver Ring Incised Boat Motif 1000-1200 AD
Ancient Byzantine Medieval Niello on Silver Ring Incised Boat Motif 1000-1200 AD Medieval Jewelry was produced during 1066– 1485 A.D. The Crusades and Sumptuary Laws were a big influence on medieval jewelry. The jewelry types. Styles, fashions and designs of the medieval period were highly influenced by new trade with the East following the Crusades. Items of religious jewelry increased including the use of rosary beads and religious pendants. Sumptuary laws imposed in England and other European countries fiercely regulated who could wear jewelry to ensure that the upper class structure was maintained. The name Crusade was given to the Holy Wars between the Christians and the Muslims and came from old French word'crois' meaning'cross' One of the most important effects of the Crusades was on commerce as it extended the market ... morefor eastern wares in Europe. The products of Damascus. Alexandria, Cairo, and other great cities were carried across the Mediterranean to the Italian seaports. Venice, Pisa, and Genoa acquired great wealth by the opening up of trade with the East and importing goods to all the European lands. New types of precious stones. Pearls were introduced into Europe and influenced medieval jewelry. The bodkin became a popular piece of Medieval jewelry which was a heavily jeweled hairpin heavily used in the Renaissance era. The Renaissance also saw the introduction of the gimmel ring which was a double ring that consisted of two or more interlocking rings. Ancient Medieval Bronze Pendant With Engravings;12th to 13th Century; Rare!
For your consideration is an excellent Byzantine bronze pendant that dates from the 12th to 13th Century. It measures 39mm x 51mm and has a very nice dark green patina that is light in certain areas. This piece has a cross with an x engraved on it in a dotted pattern. And could have been a warrior's type of pendant, but I am not sure. It is very wearable if one desired to do so, and also very solid; it would be a great addition to any artifact collection. Thanks for looking!
