Beautiful turned balusters from Turn of the Century home. 24" long with 2.5" width at each end. One end has a"V" which rested on the bottom rail. The length of the turned area is approximately 14 1/4" Very little wear but two have nail holes on one end. One has small area where wood chipped off on the square end. Still. Lovely balusters for your project and know that they came from old turn of the century house.

A lot of 20 early 1900's turned spindles that measure about 10 inches tall x 1 3/8 inches at their widest and taper down to around 7/16. These are original. 100 year old, never been installed spindles that were stock in a long closed store, they are bare wood, these are dirty and dusty, having been stored away in a barn loft for the last 100 years. see photos. Fantastic Art Deco Carved Wood Plinth Geometric Ornament No. 2
This wooden plinth has a wonderful relief carved geometric pattern. Fragments such as this can be repurposed in a variety of ways. Three antique or vintage porch columns. Pillars or posts. These were salvaged from a home built in the early 1900's. I am not sure if they were original to the house. I believe that they are solid wood. They have been painted white but the paint is peeling. These are very large diameter columns. They measure about 27 inches around. They are 53 inches in height. They do need work. There is some splitting. One of the columns is missing a piece, I have the piece but it is not attached and is rotten. Antique Baluster 6 Sawn Cutout Porch Hand Rail Balusters Gingerbread Victorian Primitive 6 Antique Balusters Sawn Porch Railing Gingerbread Victorian Handrail Baluster Pieces New England Estate Sale- Hartford CT area demolition salvage. Please see pictures as they are an important part of the description. Photos show two of the balusters but there are 24 in all- 6 offered in this sale. Due to damage to the rail itself. Some if the twelve balusters may have softness towards one of their ends. The softness is only about 1" or so up from their ends so it can be cut off. Some of the bottoms have chunks of wood detached or missing where the grain lines separated in the soft areas. All have multiple layers of paint on them; creamy white underneath the latest coat of gray/green. The paint is peeling off in thick layers in some area and not ... moreat all in other areas. There is still a lot of use left in them otherwise I wouldn't be listing them. Great for a railing project, decorative railing, arts and crafts project, photography. The balusters have a nice distressed look to them. With diamond and triangle or half diamond cut outs. They measure about 17.75" tall, 5.5" across at the top and bottom, and the width is about 1.25" deep. EACH baluster weights about 1 lb 10 ounces. I have not cleaned these balusters but they are not very dirty. They were stored on a porch out of the rain and are in quite good shape for repurposing. As mentioned previously. Architectural Salvage 75 Turned Wood Spindles with Old Peeling& Chipped Paint This is definitely a one of a kind listing- one lot of 75 small turned wooden spindles with chipped& peeling white paint. The paint on the spindles is old. Hard, cracked. On many of the spindles the paint is chipping off. Each spindle is 6 1/2" high. The spindles are like small columns with a square cap& base. The square part is about 1 3/8" by 1 3/8" depending on how much paint is on the wood. There are 4 rings in the column and a curved out part. The cylinder part of the column has a 7/8" diameter. I think these were part of the upper decoration on the gingerbread trim of a Victorian porch. But I am not sure. We removed these from an old Victorian house that we demolished last summer. There are 46 pieces total. The 11 smallest ones are 27" long total. The bases are 5 1/2" long and 2" square. The 24 medium size ones are 31 1/2" long without the piece that goes inside the rail. The bases are 8 1/2" long and 2" square. The 9 longest ones are 32" long. This listing is for all three! Love these! These beautiful pieces were part of a porch railing on an antique gothic home. The are in good shape considering all the weather that they have survived. They would have fit between the top and bottom rail on the front porch. Typically these were not necessary for carrying any load of the house so they were ultimately added for their beauty. Please see the pictures for the condition issues. I think the wearing down of the paint through the years is a bonus: They are 21 inches in length and the width at the top and bottom is approx 5 1/2 inches. Each one weighs in at a pound. 21 Antique 1900 Victorian Porch Balustrade Baluster Railing 24" High - 3" wide
Up for sale are antique victorian style Balustrades from a mansion built in Bath Maine around 1900. The price shown is for one balustrade. It was built by Honory Albert H. Shaw. In 1936 the home was sold after the death of Albert Shaw and became the Sedgwick Inn. The hotel was named after Sedgwick Place. The junction of High St. Centre and Court streets which contained a soldiers momument built to honro Cival War veterans of the Sedgwick Post, Grand Army of the Republic. The post was named after Gen John Sedgwick, the highest ranking officer killed in the war. It burned down in 1973. Information on the mansion was that the front 2 level porch was build of ash. These balusters might also be built of ash- the actual wood used is not known. These balustrade were said to have been salavaged from that building and were later used on another porch. ... moreThese were acquired by a family member when the porch was rebuilt. There are about 21 of these balustrades available for sale and pick up in Wiscasset. Maine 04578. They measure 24" high and are 3" square at the top and base. The condition is good considering the age. There are some chips and gouges and in some area the paint is pealing. I do have pictures of the Inn that does show these railings. I also have the full history of the family who build the mansion and the history of the property over the years. I can provide this information to any interested buyer. We would be willing to ship a small quantity of say 2 to 4 at an additional cost to cover the shipping. I understand that these are popular as candle holders.
