THIS IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF EARLY AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL ... moreMACHINE AGE FURNITURE. Most drawing boards of this period use oak as the frame but Hamilton typically uses Maple for the entire wood part of the frame. They usually cover the wood with a heavy black varnish and it is often in such bad condition that it has to be stripped. That was the case here but when I stripped the varnish I found a beautiful birds eye maple frame. The side rails and large center rail is beautiful. I triple sanded all of the wood and used wood conditioner to prepare the wood for the stain. I stained the pine top and maple frame with the same color but each wood takes the stain in different shades. The maple came out a gorgeous butterscotch color and the pine a beautiful chestnut color. I then applied two coats of matte finish poly and sanded in between coats. It has a very durable finish and is ready for use as a drafting/art table. Dining room or boardroom table. I have one client who joined two together to use a boardroom table! I simply cleaned the cast iron parts leaving the original black paint and then shot them with four coats of clear. The table top measures 71 x 42 inches. The table adjusts up and down as well as tilts. The highest position is about 43 inches while the lowest position is about 34 inches. The table tilts to about an 85 degree angle. This table belonged to a West Palm Beach architect and has many years of use. The are many holes and cuts from the drafting equipment but it gives it great character and beauty. This is The smaller wood center cross support was nailed in but I had to remove the nails to restore it and they will have to stay out to ship. We have researched this and are in contact with the original manufacturer which made this classic interlocking butcher block table about 65 years ago. It is a Bally Block/ Michigan Maple Company piece. If you don't know the firm take some time to look it up. By far the very best tables in the industry, the standard that others measure by. This piece is 40" long x 30" wide and a full 14" thick. It has enough of the manufacturer label left to know it is a Bally Block Company table. Some minor separation and no cleaning. In storage for the past 40+ years. Legs are 18" long to support surface so overall height assembled will be 32" high from floor to surface, a nice shorter island. You can bring up the table by adding new floor spacers that we removed due to rotting. These are normally 4-6" tall and fasten to the bottom the the legs. This piece was made in early half if 1949 and is marked on the underside with a wood burn, see pictures. The top surface is as expected from a post WW2 neighborhood butcher shop. Worn. But workable. The sides look nice and we will include a full bottle of Butcher Block Conditioner for the winning bidder to clean this classic piece back to new. I have not tried to clean this at all. a refinisher told me simple rubbing alcohol will take the ink off, i got this for my kid but it is way to large for his room with the top measuring 3 by 5 foot. it stands 42 inches tall and can be adjusted down with the turn of a wheel to 33 inches. it can also swivel to an almost vertical position for painting or art projects or storing somewhere when not in use. i will definitely allow local pick up but i will ship, it will be the buyers responsibility to set up shipping. it is quite large and im sure usps or ups will not take it-i saw where greyhound bus lines does shipping but you have to pick it up at one of their terminals for a couple hundred bucks or uship is a great service and could probably be arranged for a couple hundred dollars. im very easy to work with and will make this as effortless as possible for the buyer. if shipped i will wrap with bubble wrap and blankets for the shipment. i can also deliver within a reasonable distance for a fee of dollar a mile. very cool steampunk antique item that will hold its value and most likely increase over time. you will likely not find one of these especially in this great shape that has not been refinished. being all original and this great i think the value of this with being from the university of illinois and from the early 1900's i think the value of this is triple the starting amount.good luck bidding and ask any questions. thank you.

I have not tried to clean this at all. a refinisher told me simple rubbing alcohol will take the ink off, i got this for my kid but it is way to large for his room with the top measuring 3 by 5 foot. it stands 42 inches tall and can be adjusted down with the turn of a wheel to 33 inches. it can also swivel to an almost vertical position for painting or art projects or storing somewhere when not in use. i will definitely allow local pick up but i will ship, it will be the buyers responsibility to set up shipping. it is quite large and im sure usps or ups will not take it-i saw where greyhound bus lines does shipping but you have to pick it up at one of their terminals for a couple hundred bucks or uship is a great service and could probably be arranged for a couple hundred dollars. im very easy to work with and will make this as effortless as possible for the buyer. if shipped i will wrap with bubble wrap and blankets for the shipment. i can also deliver within a reasonable distance for a fee of dollar a mile. very cool steampunk antique item that will hold its value and most likely increase over time. you will likely not find one of these especially in this great shape that has not been refinished. being all original and this great i think the value of this with being from the university of illinois and from the early 1900's i think the value of this is triple the starting amount.good luck bidding and ask any questions. thank you.

Side table or lamp table. This very pretty piece in the Jacobean style is definitely vintage. Near antique, and we would date it to c1920. It is constructed of oak with lovely deep. Rich tones. The top of the table. When closed, is doubled over, and sits flat againt a wall as a side table. The table top opens and swivels to form a large game playing surface with a felt playing square. The table top sits on four barley twist ... morelegs with a shaped stretcher base. The top has beautiful decorative carving to the edges. And is finished with a carved skirt. An unusual feature of this table is that when opening, storage compartments for games essentials are revealed. The table stands 76cm high and the top measures 75cm wide and 37cm deep in the closed. Side table position. When opened to the playing surface, the table top is approximately 75cm square. The table itself is in very good vintage condition. With a repaired crack to the table top. When opened, the playing surface is really quite tatty, and the felt needs to be replaced. An easy fix if you want a card table!
