In a 19th century hard wood reliquaire(dimensions cm. 4.3 x 1.5; small defect at the edge as in the second picture) there is a cloth containing the relic. Above there is a cloth tape. Inscribed with ST. OVIDE MARTIR; the relic is sorrounded by four gold leaf stars with shining glass paste. According to 16th century hagiographic sources. S. Audito was a Sicilian Roman citizen; Pope St. Clement I, sent him to Braga in Portugal, where he became the third Bishop of the city( 95) and then martyred for the faith in 135. The Portuguese Braga called Ouvido( popular translation of Latin Gaspar) Which in the 16th and 17th centuries erupted into Ovid, so much so that on the previous tombstone placed over his tomb in the Cathedral of Braga. This is a 4 1/2" by 3" card with the Ex Indumentis(which is the piece of clothing worn by St.Pius Xth) On the front of the card he states: I WOULD GIVE THIS POOR LIFE OF MINE IN HOLOCAUST TO PREVENT THE SLAUGHTER OF SO MANY YOUTHS.
