Letter holders, file card drawers etc. It is a double pedestal desk with wainscot panel sides and back panels. The right pedestal has a pull out writing board over 3 dove tail joined drawers. The left pedestal has another pull up tambour door to reveal cabinet space. It is a large 55.25" by 32.25" executive size desk w. Overall height is47.75" high with the writing desk top at a standard 30" height from the floor. It has a blind front oak panel where the center drawer once sat but for some reason the previous owner chose to do away with the drawer and make a blind front oak board. The original drawer guides are still intact and you could easily add a drawer box to the panel to have a top center drawer again. Very nice tiger oak grain throughout with a natural oak finish on the wood. It un-assembles into 3 parts for transport, Two side columns and desktop with tmabour and, desk top and cubby space. Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. Condition: Used Location: Fairfield, United States We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole ... moreleg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

It is a very usable desk that has a stain on the top on the left-hand side on the edge of the writing surface and the normal nicks and dings. The writing surface has had the lock removed, which is normal. You would need to purchase a replacement lock online for approximately $40 if you would like the desk to lock. The roll top has four raised panel drawers and a pull-out writing surface on the left-hand side. It has a center drawer. The right-hand side has what appears to be four drawers, but the bottom drawer is a simulated two drawer file drawer that is 10 inches deep. The desk has raised panels all the way around.

The mahogany may have been added at a later date such as the early 1800's when mahogany became more popular and more readily available. The pigeon hole interior has a unique look and design with lots of extra added details as well as a well interior below the writing surface which simply slides open. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. This is a very nice period carved georgian desk from the mid 1700s all original& in excellent condition. The carved fall front having the original brass'batwing' lockplate/escutcheon& enclosing a fitted interior with 8 arched pigeon holes& four bowed drawers& five standard drawers all with the original brass pulls. The desk also has a'secret' sliding compartment& the central drawer removes to reveal a bank of three secret drawers. Below are three short over two long drawers all having the original engraved brass handles and batwing lockplates, all the drawers with hand cut dovetails, the desk standing on shaped bracket feet. Oak 1780 Antique Italian Secretary Desk& Bookcase. Hand crafted about 1780 in northern Italy. An exquisite solid oak secretary desk has an arched bookcase top. The old finish with warm patina has been revarnished recently. There are various restorations plus shrinkage separations and wear on this historic furniture. Hand cut dovetail joints. Square nails, mortise and tenon joints and hand planing marks are all authentic. Locks and keys work, the drop front rests on pull out supports. Inside are 11 small drawers plus a locking compartment. Upper doors have carved pegs at the corners. Brasses are about 100 years old but not original on this very functional European country antique. Here is a fantastic original Georgian circa late 1700's English solid oak desk with gorgeous figured mahogany. The mahogany would have probably been added at a later date such as the early 1800's when figured mahogany veneer became more popular and more readily available. The pigeon hole interior has a unique look and design with lots of extra added details as well as a well interior below the writing surface which simply slides open. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. The top drawer is a false drawer and then the 2 over 3 drawers are all graduated. All of the drawers inside and out are hand dovetailed as shown. The hardware is a later addition.possibly and most probably changed if and when the figured mahogany veneer ... morewas added in the very early 1800's. The desk is supported by a bracket foot base.
