1800's Antique Salt Glazed Whiskey Jug with turkey droppings
Antique 1800's salt glazed whiskey jug with desirable"turkey droppings" It is in very good shape. No chips at all and only a hairline crack on one side and half way on the bottom. It does not go all the way through. This was found in a old shed that has been untouched for atleast 40 or more years. I don't know the exact year of the jug, it is thought to be the 1800's. No stamps or markings found on the piece.

The following is stamped on the item: There are no maker mark's nor brand mark's.This is a antique/vintage whiskey/liquor jug and it's real heavy stoneware type material with a attached handle.It's a one colored jug it's a dark brown color.The complete jug has a very nice glaze coating but not on the bottom.This is a used item it has wear and light scratch/scuff mark's from normal use not abuse and has alot of life left ... morein it.There are some very small flea bite's type chip/nick's but nothing bad nor major chip's.No crack's,there is nothing glued on any of this piece,I do not no what quart size this is.For it's age this is still in great condition for a used item,the complete jug is very solid and heavy duty.On lip area there is two older chip/nick's,just below the lip area there is this small hole please look at my picture's you will see these mark's. This turn of the century jug is quite hefty with black or deep navy blue graphics over a cream/ off-white background with an applied handle highlighted in tan along with the neck. It appears at one time someone may have used this jug as a candle holder as there is a bit of residual wax to the inner neck area. This old Stoneware Hayner Whiskey Jug has been sitting in my father’s basement for at least the last 55+ years and was covered in dust and as you can see by the pictures it has not been cleaned. Other than the dirt the jug is in great condition with no cracks. Chips or repairs. It measures about 11 inches tall and is 6 5/8 inches in diameter at the base. The front reads HAYNER LOCKBOX 290 DAYTON OHIO and it has ES&B in raised letters on the bottom. 1920 brought in the beginning of Prohibition and the end of the Hayner Distilling Company and their Mail Order Whiskey business. This 2Gal. RI Merchant Jug is a real eye-catcher! I have always assumed that Horseshoes should face upward for Luck. And questioned why Edward Smith, a successful 19thC. Pawtucket Liquor Distributer, would use such a logo on his products. I then realized that the Horseshoe quickly orients itself in the proper manner when its contents are poured! A brilliant design, to say the least. In addition to the stenciled Cobalt Advertising, this Jug is also clearly impressed on the shoulder: F.T. WRIGHT& SON, STONE WARE, TAUNTON, MASS. with the 2Gal. capacity mark just below. I would date this to around 1870, based on the stamp. The overall condition is outstanding, considering its intended use. There is a shallow flake on the base, and two nicks on the spout; otherwise Mint. It is a 1 gallon shoulder/whiskey jug. It has the maple leaf logo on the front. The jug is about 10.5 inches tall and just under 7 inches in diameter. It was preowned but was very well taken care of. I see a few shallow chips on the front rim(where the white portion begins) There is a 3 inch rough section along the rim on the back, as well as a small hairline crack. There is a small spot on the mouth of the jar where it wasn't completely covered with the brown glaze. I believe any other imperfections I see are only production flaws. Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Rare miniature whiskey jug for Old Schroeder Rye Put Up Expressly for F.Stuppy St Louis Missouri. I could find very litte on Old Schroeder Rye. This little jug shows some overall wear. There is is some wear to the top of the spout and a chip on the inside front of the spout. There is an imperfection in the glazing in the neck(front) That is a rough spot, where the brown glazing did not take) There is a hairline crack in the glazing on top and side of the handle(can be seen under a magnifying glass) Handle is solid. Jug Measures about 7.5" tall without the cork and dates to around 1900 or earlier. There is an early addition of felt to the bottom to prevent scratching on furniture. It could easily be removed. ANTIQUE WHISKEY BROWN GLAZE JUG 2 GALLON
This nice and well made antique stoneware jug that was probably made in the upper Midwest. The jug has a great brown glaze and a nice applied handle. It was probably filled with Whiskey. With the crock being in great condition. There are a couple glaze pops here and there, but those were done during manufacturing. Measures about 11" tall and is a 2 gallon size. The glazing on top is of brown swill. the bottom portion glazed in off white. Appears to be a two piece with the molded handle being put on after the jug mold and then glazed. Shows very little wear and observed no scratches couple of dings here and there. A few pin tip glaze flaws as you would expect. B ottom is lightly glazed in white. bottom is lightly crazed.
