Period brass tear drop pulls and pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being ... morepopular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. There is a HEAVY solid slab of beveled edged white marble that is 48" wide x 22" deep x 1" thick and does not just rest on top but sits in its own custom perfect fit carved edged seat. This piece of marble weighs about 100 lbs itself. The first drawer opens to a solid piece of burl or birdseye maple. That is a sign of quality as that was an expensive wood. The two drawer pulls in the top drawer are original. There are four larger pulls that were used in the two lower drawers but are missing pieces. Offered for auction is this very nice circa 1870's-1880's AestheticWalnut Victorian chest of drawers. The chest is a very nice small size. 38" t x 30" w x 19" d. It has 5 graduated drawers and under the top drawer is a pull out flat shelf for writing or folding clothes(see pic 4) The front stiles have nice Aesthetic carvings at the top and the sides are recessed rectangular panels surrounded by molding. Plinth base and raised on casters. The stamped brass bail handles and backplates have a wonderful scenic design. The top has been used a lot so will need to be cleaned up and maybe even refinished due to all the scraping and scratches. But still is useable and functional. Offered for auction is this nice large walnut mirror frame that attaches to the top of a chest of drawers. Two walnut supports with brass turn screw attachments support the mirror frame(no mirror) The supports have screw holes in the bases of them to be screwed down to the top of the chest. Mirror can be angled up or down with the brass adjustment handles. Frame has nice parallel carved reeded lines all around and the dimensions are outside. 35 1/4" x 29 1/8" Inside, 30" x 24 1/2" Weight is about 10 lbs.

This bureau belonged to my grandmother. Unfortunately. I do not have space for it any longer. I believe this is"Victorian Eastlake" It is in very good original condition with original hardware. Sold as is. No one has painted, refinished or otherwise tampered with it. There was never a mirror from the time my grandmother acquired it. Local pick-up only! Dimensions are: 51 inches wide. 19 inches front to back and 33 inches at the tallest point. It is a large piece and heavy but the side sections with small drawers and the marble pieces come off for moving. Probably best to have a van or large-ish SUV to move it.

The dresser is in excellent antique condition, with great structural integrity, beautiful wood with few signs of wear or aging, smoothly operating drawers, great adjustable pedestal mirror, rose marble top that is largely very good, bearing a few surface scratches(these are not deep and can be buffed out- please see photo of marble and specific scratches) and original one-inch-high casters that can be removed, if so desired. There was a worn piece of wrapping paper around this little mirror. And just one piece of it was saved. The last photo shows that paper! It has"1 Augest Thonsen 1878" That's what it looks like to me, but maybe I'm not seeing it correctly! The overall size of this old mirror is 8" x 14 1/2" tall. The actual mirror size is 5 1/2" x 9 3/4" tall. An expert said it is diamond dust, but I can't guarantee that. The best way to tell if it really is diamond dust is when it's damaged. This one is in encased in wood with screws and has been in a dry climate(Denver) for over 136 years, so there's no damage! The"burled" walnut is a veneer, and that's easy to see when you look at the back of it! I bought this from an old timer here in Hatfield and it was his mother's. That makes me the second owner. It dates to 1888-99 based on the scallop. And pin joinery shown in the drawers. It is all original. All drawers work well. One of the drawers has a square of yellow paint on the inside front. Also. There is one solid brass drawer pull that does not match all the others. I found. A semi match in a salvage shop in Aurora. Oregon. I currently have this piece in my living room and it looks gorgeous. Way to nice. To have tucked away in a bedroom. 41.5"inches across. 20.75"inches deep. 29.5"inches tall. Drawers are 35.75 by 15"inches with 5.5"inch depth. The drawers of this piece are joined with a pin and cove dovetail. This joining technique was the very first dovetail for factory manufactured Eastlake furniture.
