It is in a nice condition and is all original-the oak has the original finish and the iron has the original black paint. The stand is on rollers and it is sturdy. We have used it to hold two Bibles-one on each side. You can also use it to cradle an open Bible. We purchased this years ago from the estate of a woman who had lived in the old section of Portsmouth.VA and I am assuming it was most likely in that family for years. Antique 19th Century Sterling Silver& Bronze Religious Chalice with case. This chalice was used for many years during church services. The upper cup portion is Sterling Silver. The hallmark/stamps have worn away a bit with use and are hard to decipher(see photos) I believe the stamps to be French) The stem and base are Brass and Silver Plated. Most of the Silver plating on the stem has worn away. The base is engraved with leaves and one Pattee Alisee Cross. He is carved from wood then Gesso was applied then he was hand painted he has dark brown glass eyes and a very beautiful face and nice cream color garment outfit and little gold colored sandals;He's truly a work of art. On the inside cover it has a instructions on"how to pray the rosary" which is pretty cool. It is in really good condition for it's age. The pages are yellow as with any book this age but still very readable. There is one page in the book that has a tear in it. I've take a picture of that also to show you. I have taken pictures of the book and the inside for you. HUGE ANTIQUE 1878 HOLY BIBLE LEATHER BRASS NEEDS RESTORATION AMERICAN PUBLISH CO
Offered for auction with a low starting bid and NO RESERVE. Is this wonderful Antique family Holy Bible dated 1873. Published by the American Publishing Company. It measures roughly 13" x 10" x 4" and weighs more than 13 pounds. Unfortunately, this bible is in need of restoration and for that reason, you are buying this as-is and returns will not be accepted on this item. Look carefully at my photos and feel free to ask me any questions. The binding of the book is a wonderful heavily embossed leather with gold embellishment. There are two brass or gold tone metal clasps. Both the front and back end boards have separated completely from the spine. The first several pages of the bible are worn and damaged with foxing and watermarks. Most of the interior pages are actually in good condition with some foxing and yellowing but not ... morebad. This bible contains hundreds of illustrations plus a dictionary, and interesting facts about the history and culture of the people and places mentioned in the Bible. It also has a few pages for family photographs(there are none unfortunately) and a page for recording Marriage. That was never filled out either. This bible is a fine example of a 19th century family heirloom and worthy of restoration or taken apart and used for parts. Good luck bidding!

Its a swell day to buy an antique chalice& paten set and you pals at PaxHouse.com have a gem for you. This chalice is over 100 years old. The base& stem are brass. The cup and paten are sterling silver. It has an engraved memorial along the rim of the base. Probably the priests mother or grandmother. There is a diamond ring wrapped around the stem,just above the node which has multple diamonds set in gold. The base has a sterling cross with a small diamond in it as well. The ring most likely belonged to the person who's name is in the memorial on the base. The chalice is 8" tall, the sterling cup is 3 3/4" diameter, the base is 4 2/4" diameter. Comes with a NEW wooden carrying case lined in green velvet. The sterling silver paten is 5 1/2" diameter and has a hand engraved IHS symbol in the center. Everything ... moreis gold plated over all. Antique Beautiful Carved Wood Arm Chair This gothic looking solid hard wood chair has intricate designed carvings that make it a one of a kind original. This heavy chair would be very fitting in a church setting whether it be a large cathedral or a small church. Would also look beautiful in a large home. It is sure to be an object of conversation. The finish is original and I personally cleaned all the nooks and crannies with a cotton swab. As you can see there is no dust in between the carvings. This throne is very sturdy. Sits even without rocking and there is no looseness to any of the seams. There are some natural cracks on the seat that enhances the quality and integrity of this piece. Also one of the little figures across the top has a bit of damage that can be seen from the back but not the front. Both these issues are pictured. This tray comes from the Bishops collection and it was given to him by Giovanni Battistelli. The appointed Franciscan Custodian of the Holy Land at the time of his visit there. Cruets are of two small bottles or vessels that contain the water and wine used at the Consecration of the Mass; they are carried on a cruet tray like the one on auction. The tray is 11 inches long. And has a naturally occurring wood grain crack by one of the handles that is stable, and for this reason we saw no need for a restoration; although it may easily be filled in and restored, by the winning bidder, if they desire. This beautiful velvet and metal antique bible measures approximately 5 7/8" x 3 5/8" and is 1 1/4" deep. Originally. The velvet covers might have been grey. The det ailed metal work on the corners and along the edges is gold in color which is probably brass. The medallion in the center of the front cover is engraved Holy Bible. The front cover has separated from the book. I am not knowledgable about antique books. However, the pages appear to me to show signs of age but not signs of the expected use of a book this age.
