Here is a VERY NICE old 2 GALLON SCRIPT" 2" STONEWARE JUG with COBALT BLUE DECORATION in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The jug measures 13 1/2 inches in height and is 8 inches across the base. There is what looks like it might be a small chip on the handle. It is under the handle where it can hardly be seen. You may be able to see it in the photos. Also. On the base there is a smooth little chip that has probably been with this jug since it was fired. It is a VERY NICE OLD HEAVY JUG. VERY NICE. I didn't have it appraised. It is solid with nice antique wear. It is ready to display! It measures almost 5" high. The base is about 2 1/4" and the top is about 2 5/8" across. It was found buried in the sand in Michigan near the Canadian border and Lake Superior. I don't know it's original origin. Shipping will include a tracking number. Caly City Centennial Whiskey Jug Toothpick Holder
This Toothpick jug measures approx. 2.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. It was just sitting around in my parents cabinet and we thought someone else might enjoy it. There is nothing wrong with it seems to be in the exact same condition it would have been when purchased. There is no writing on the bottom however as you can see in the photos. The front reads(in gold cursive writing) Clay City Centennial. Then there are some beautiful purple flowers and then the word"Toothpicks" printed in black. You are viewing an exceptionally fine English stoneware or pearlware jug with a fox hunting scene modeled in high relief. I believe the body of the jug was made by Davenport as there is an impressed mark with the words which might be Davenport as well as the anchor symbol below. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The sterling silver top. Collar and thumbpiece bear the mark of John Lias, London, with a date letter of 1806. John Lias started as a buckle maker in 1791 and later incorporated his son into the trade and in the hallmark. With the foxhounds tearing the fox to pieces; two huntsman climbing over the gate; and their two hunters waiting patiently. Has slight rub marks on copper trim on rim. Measures 4 3/4" tall by 5" wide at base. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. Early, 5 Gal Stoneware Jug, marked with the logo of the US Standard Pottery Company, East Liverpool Ohio This lovely jug comes from an Estate Auction in Southern Florida. It took me quite a while to identify this jug. Many jugs are described as being rare. This one is. It was made by the US Standard Pottery Company in East Liverpool. Ohio. The company is listed as manufacturing ceramics from 1886-1927. There were earlier pottery manufacturers in this area with the name of Standard. But information is scarce. The eagle logo is correct for US Standard. During the years that US Standard was producing a wide range of products. The East Liverpool, Ohio area was know as"The Pottery Capital of the World" The area had high quality clay and a ... morecommunity of skilled ceramic artisans. I would suggest that the current very good condition of this 5 gallon jug testifies to the high quality of manufacturing. The jug is 19.75" tall and 11.5" in diameter. The height from the base to the shoulder is 13' From the photos you can see the expected imperfections from its original firing. Age discoloration on the shoulder and a few areas where small chips of glaze have been lost. There are no cracks or other issues that I am aware of. It's a lovely pieice of stoneware. The light colored glaze is amazingly beautiful for its age. The shape is delightful and overall, its just a charming piece of antiquity. And, it's at a good price.

And this jug was made by the Miller Pottery in Alabama. A great story that I read about this from another listing and then checked it out. I love this stuff. In the early 1800’s. A French potter named Francis LaCoste emigrated to America. He first settled in Charleston, SC, because his ship wrecked in Charleston Harbor! Good fortune for him, because he met and married a Charleston lady named Alice Harris. Searching for clay that would allow him to produce pottery like he had made in France, Francis and Alice went to Mobile and found the perfect clay in the nearby settlement of Montrose. There they built a house and established their pottery works. During the Civil War. ... moreUnion soldiers set up camp on the LaCoste property, and among the soldiers in that camp was a young man from Lancaster, PA named Abraham Miller. Eventually he met Frances LaCoste Lavendar, presumably one of Francis and Alice’s daughters, whose husband had gone off to fight the Yankees and never returned. After the war. Abraham stayed in Montrose, learned the art of pottery making from Francis LaCoste, and fell in love with the young widow Frances LaCoste Lavendar. They were married and set out by covered wagon, accompanied by Frances’ little son Phillip Lavendar, to find a place of their own where they could establish a home and where Abraham could practice his newly-learned trade. This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. There are 3 tiny jugs ranging in size from 1 1/2- 2 inches.All have some issues like missing handles.Chips,missing spout,but are still really cute! The shoes are another story! They are in very good condition with some very minor chipping as can be seen in the photos! They are a dark brown in color and though very similar they are not quite a pair. One has a small piece of paper rolled up inside which was there when I bought it. It reads"Found in the barn at the farm Douglas Twp. The bottle is marked on the side with a round stamp that looks like"RHENS" Below that stamp is"RHEIN PREUSSEN" The bottle dates to the mid 1800's and comes from early Germany- Prussia. The jug has the original cork stopper. The jug has a light orange paint or coating and there is a single finger loop handle. The jug measures 12" tall. Antique Blue Sponge Pitcher - Bells
This is an excellent example of folk art spongeware which was made during the early 1900's. Although these pitchers were common. Many did not survive in the best condition due to their utilitarian nature. Ladies then as now wanted cheerful kitchenware- and what is more popular than blue and white. The design of this piece looks like a chain of little bells or flowers and it is quite graphic. The condition is excellent for its age and use. There is a bit of wear to the interior rim and a small scuff along the bottom under the handle as shown. The background is quite bright and the blue well defined. F. H. Cowden. Antique Stoneware Canning Jug, Harrisburg, PA- 1881- 1888 Nice stamped antique jug made by F. H. Cowden in Harrisburg. PA in the 1880's. It has an unusually large mouth, 2.25" wide, for use as a canning vessel. F. H. was the successor to his father. John W. Cowden's, stoneware business in Harrisburg, PA. The elder Cowden started his pottery business with Isaac J. Wilcox(Cowden& Wilcox) as the Civil War started in 1861. The son. F. H. Cowden, enlisted in company C, Two Hundred and First Pennsylvania volunteers in 1864, served one year, and was honorably discharged at war's end. When he returned, F. H. worked with his father and took the company over on the elder's death in 1872. From 1881 to 1888 he operated the business alone as F. H. Cowden. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL F. H. COWDEN JUG. F. H. Cowden was the ... morefifth generation of his line of descent in America. The original ancestor. Matthew Cowden, came from the north of Ireland and settled in Chester county, PA around 1730. They were likely of Scots-Irish ancestry and documents reveal Revolutionary War as well as Civil War involvement. Rare 1/2 Gallon Antique Little Brown Beehive Stoneware Crock Moonshine Jug
These 1/2 gallon jugs are pretty scarce and are even harder to find at a reasonable price. This particular little brown jug is about as good as you can get. There are a couple of small imperfections in it but they're not new. They've been there since day one. I doubt you're really brewin' up moonshine for this. Tonight's Item for Auction is a Stoneware 10 1\2 inch tall by 4 inch wide Root Beer(Beer) Bottle. It has been repaired. But looks fine, in good condition and it's not going to fall apart, good solid bottle. These Stoneware bottles were popular back in the later 1800's, most folks call Root Beers, but were also used for other beverages. Red Wing "Geo Klehm Home Made Wine" Jug From Illinois.
1gallon tan stoneware jug. Almost mint condition with one very small flake on base and the same on the shoulder rim in the back. Embossed"Home Made Wine/ Guaranteed Pure/ Geo. Klehm/ Arlington Heights. Ill. A very nice jug in about mint condition with the two minor flaws noted. No other chips, cracks or wear. See some natural separation in the handle underneath. The base is embossed"Minnesota Stoneware" and more illegible letters. The"M" beginning of the word Minnesota is not legible. It looks like Red Wing is also embossed but it is incomplete. Antique William McKinley Napoleon Toby Jug Pitcher political stoneware
Rare pitcher comparing President McKinley to Napoleon Bonaparte to satirize McKinley's imperialist pretensions. The pitcher was decorated by Alfred B. Evans. Philadelphia, circa 1895. Pitcher has gilt handle and base, with the figure wearing a black tricorn and boots, yellow vest& blue waistcoat. The underside of the pitcher is marked Patd Feb 2nd. 1896, The McKinley Jug. This piece shows overall crazing to white areas of porcelain. Some wear to gilt band around base and minor wear to gilding on handle. Interior is very clean. Antique Stoneware Syrup Pitcher BENNETT'S 1873
Up for bid is an antique stoneware syrup pitcher. Stamped BENNETT'S PATENT. JAN. 23. 1873. Decorative pewter( or metal lid covers the spout with drip edge. There is overall crazing. As shown in the photos, there is a chip on the base, a crack on the top edge and a crack at the top of the handle; this last one looks like a manufacturing defect because, when magnified, it appears that the clear glaze goes into the crack. Pretty floral design with handpainted accents. It measures 8" high including the lid. antique baby elephant pole topper, jug stopper, metal, republican
This laughing baby elephant piece appears to be a pole topper or jug stopper. It is old. But I am not able to date it. It is made of some sort of non magnetic metal. It is just shy of 8" tall. I have never seen one of these before, so I don't know that much about it. A coat of paint could help bring it to life, but its current patina is beautiful also. I estimate that it weighs between 2 and 3 lbs. Might be a good craft or accent piece. Would be a great piece for an elephant collectibles enthusiast! Posted with

Early STONEWARE JUG 1 GLN. SIDEARM BROWN MOTTLED STONE COLOR APPLIED HANDLE
This auction features a vintage stoneware jug/crock used for bottling liquor. Vinegar etc. See description of condition above. This crock has a very nice glaze over a dark brown on top of jug and the stone beige color with white mottled in with it over 3/4 of the jug. See photos. The sidearm handle is applied and that is shown in photos of the handle. It is a 1 gallon jug, just short of 12" h, 6 3/4" across the bottom and 22" around. The bottom is unglazed.
