Antique English 19th Century Soft Paste Porcelain Jug or Pitcher with Gilt Trim English antique soft paste porcelain jug from the mid 1800’s. The ornate soft paste jug is a beautiful lavender-blue and white and features two allegorical scenes on the side panels in relief. One scene depicts a woman holding a Caduceus. The staff carried by Hermes in Greek mythology, and a child sitting on her lap as two young children pull her carriage. The second scene depicts a woman in a carriage being pulled by two dogs as a putto with baskets of flowers hovers above her. A simple border that terminates in a shell form, surrounds both of the scenes. The front of the jug depicts a tree. There pitcher is accented with brilliant gilt trim and decoration throughout and the front of the pitcher has a decorative gilt monogram on the front. The jug is unsigned ... moreand unmarked. There is a bit of faint gilt loss, particularly on the rim, lip of the spout and on the acanthus leaf handle. There is a tight ¼” hairline on the interior where the handle meets the body and another 1” tight hairline on the bottom rim. The hairline does not go into the interior or prevent water storage. Antique milk jug pitcher French European
An antique. Or maybe vintage, milk jug/pitcher with sweet wild roses transferred onto each side. It has a mark on bottom but almost impossible to make out, I can see the word Fran. Has a hexagonal body with a curved rim and sweeping handle made out of a heavy china. In great condition, no chips or cracks. Measures 6.75" tall. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. This is an older piece and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Vin tage Universal Cambridge Potteries Ivory Disk Water Pitcher Jug with Cap& Cork This fantastic water pitcher jug is in very good to excellent condition for its age. There is a lot of crazing to both pitcher and cap and a few kiln kisses(see photos 8. 10, 12) There are a couple of rough, discolored spots on cap(see photo 9)may just need a good washing-I didn't want to get cork wet. Cap has original cork which is in excellent condition. There is a spot on the lip of jug that looks like a crack, but I don't think it is-it looks more like a spot that didn't get glazed and then got discolored between the area of glazed and unglazed(see phot 7) For its age this is in very good to excellent condition; only real problem is glazing. From what my research has uncovered, I believe this was made by Universal Cambridge Potteries in ... morethe 1930's, but I could be wrong. There are no markings at all on the piece. I am guessing it was made as early as the 1930's and as late as the 1950's, but believe it is earlier than later. Pitcher measures approximately 7" across. 7" high, and 3" wide. Cap measures approximately 11/2" across at top, 2" across at widest point, 5/8" across bottom, 1 3/4" tall with cork, 3/4" tall without cork, and 6 3/4" around at widest point. I ship only to US and US Protectorates. Shipping will be based on calculator since there is quite a bit of price difference between west and east coast. Piece is extremely well made weighing 4 1/2 LBS and measuring 11 Inches X 8 1/2 Inches. Pitcher is very ornate with many different decorative standards and reliefs. It is very unusual to find such High Relief Molding on Whites Stoneware which makes this a highly decorative piece. Also of note is the very unusual serpent or snake handle. Brown Glaze Salt Redware Pottery Hand Craft Pitcher Jug
I am selling for a family member. She has recently moved to a studio apartment from a large home and does not have room or the decor for her late brother's Asian treasures. He was an artist for a major card company whose companion was the Asian buyer for the corresponding luxury department store. The companion also brought back"treasures" for their own collections and the brother's home was decorated entirely Asian. The exception was some local pottery of which he had a small collection. This is a salt glaze type red ware or reddish brown glaze pitcher. It is signed on the bottom but it is very hard to read. Especially as I am unfamiliar with the artist. It appears to say Bimme or Bumme followed by a large flourished H. Next to the H is apparently the year the item with its applied leaf motif on the handle was made, it says ... more81. Below and connected to the H is a stylized flower or leaf. The piece has variations in the color and thickness of the glaze that appear to be intentional, and give the impression of age. It is in good used condition but was apparently used to hold some of his art supplies as there is some blue on the inside bottom. I have not attempted to remove this. It is overall a very appealing and warm looking piece and is around 3 3/4" tall and around 5" wide handle to spout. It would be my guess that it was made by an artist from the Kansas City area. Description: Beautiful antique Victorian majolica gurgling fish pitcher/ jug/ vase. Interior glazed in that wonderful mauve color common to Victorian majolica. An estate item. Helpfully labeled at the bottom by one of the heirs as GRANDPA GRUBER'S FROM THE CAMP(which seems a great place to decorate with a gurgling fish vase) with"MAJOLICA" written in a felt-tip marker(which can be removed fairly easily; it's on top of the glaze) In very good to excellent condition. With faint crazing visible on close inspection, appropriate to majolica of this age, but no chips, cracks or damage. Measures 9 1/2" high and 5" wide at widest point; the base is 3 1/4" diameter. Early Redware Pitcher Jug with manganese sponged accents with slip decorated incised lines We are please to offer this nice hand decorated and formed redware pitcher. The pitcher has wonderful maganese sponging around the neck and white slip bands overlaying the incised lines also around the neck. The strap handle is applied from the neck to the fullest section of the ovoid pitcher. The lip of the pitcher has no spout. The pitcher is glazed on the interior and unglazed on the bottom of the exterior. We have not washed the pitcher so there may be some dust in nooks and crannies and in the interior.The jug was acquired from an East Bend. NC yard sale but we are not certain of the actual origins of the pitcher. Either way it is a nice solid example of slip decorated redware and would make a wonderful addition to the winners collection! Mouth ... more3 7/8" widest at middle approx. 4 1/2" bottom 3 1/2" Condition: The pitcher is in excellent sound condition with no breaks or cracks.
