Victorian Relief Cast Gilt Bronze Brass Box Old Testament Figures
This is an old and very beautiful heavy cast relief box with religious figures. The ornamentation is very well done and the arches suggest a Gothic Revival influence. There are Tudor rose and fleur de lis details as well as robed religious(old Testament) figure.There is a lock but no key. The interior is lined with blue velvet although there is no lining to the inside of the lid. The piece is in very good condition for its age. No markings were found. Antique Early Primitive Hand Forged Cooking Tongs Folkart
Such a rare unique piece of antique iron. Hand forged with pounded rivet in the hinge. Cutout decorations could be from Pennsylvania? Small tongs used in cooking. Probably outdoor cooking. 13 3/4" in length, 2 1/2" wide at widest part, by the teeth. The teeth appear to be added onto the iron one by one. I tried to show this in the photo. This is a wonderful piece of functional folkart and a work of art in itself. Other than the superficial surface pits, to be expected for it's use and age, this is in remarkable condition. It required special attention to the amounts of electrical current used and the composition of the plating solution. The molds were first put in hot paraffin or carnuba wax and left to harden. It was then sprayed with an electrically conductive coating. The piece was then held by a wick and dipped into the plating solution. The mold could stay from just a few hours to a few days. Each one measures 5 1/4" tall by 7" and weighs 4.8 pounds for the pair unpacked. They are in great condition! Just a little discoloration on the back of one. One tiny rub on the base, and on the same bookend, the ear has been bumped and the clad has buckled a little because of that. It was not broken off and the crack does not go all the way around. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. The mold is peeled away, yielding a wax image(the wax positive" duplicating the original sculpture. This image must then be"touched-up" to remove any seam lines. Chinaman Incense Burner
A delightful little metallic incense burner in the figure of a sitting man in Chinese raiment holding a box. The lid of the box is removable allowing for the placement of a lozenge of incense to be put into the box for burning. The object weighs 343g approx. and measures 110mm in height. 80mm in width and 55mm in depth approx. The reproduction aged appearance is most convincing. So much so that I cannot identify which metal it is made of. Probably copper. Contact me for photos of other aspects of this object.

Vintage Lunch Box Tin with Boys Playing Outside Wonderful artwork on this vintage tin lunch box with handle. We see boys playing outside. To include camping, fishing, archery, and sailing little boats in a stream. The little outfits with the particular ties made me wonder if this is an early Boy Scout tin. It likely dates to the early 1920s. No branding. The spine on the tin is completely detached. Otherwise the asking price would be doubled. Perhaps this could be repaired by a professional, or perhaps with some super glue. I am selling as is. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. It measures about 5" wi de and is 3 1/4" tall and about 1 3/4" deep. It has a great-looking crown design and the brass is nice and thick. Judging from the look of the back. I t appears t his was made using a sand-cast method. So i t likely dates to the early 1800s. It is unsigned and is in excellent condition. Please review the photos for specifics. Antique E Jullien/Paris (1880-1900) French Gilt Bronze Tray/Dish/Valet
This is a beautiful antique french gilt bronze that was made by the E Jullien Foundry in Paris between the years of 1880 and 1900. The foundry was only active then. There is a mark engraved on the bottom that says"E Jullien/Paris/12 Rue Pasquier. I have already mentioned the flaws- the gilt is missing from most of the woman's body. There are some nicks and scratches, but it is still very beautiful. I find especially charming the fact that the woman's hair goes down the side of the dish, and you can also see her arm resting there from the side. I am selling this for a friend(this belonged to her aunt) And neither of us know anything about antiques, but I did look up the foundry and found some very good prices for the objects made there. Queen Elisabeth, and Princes Leopold and Charles are all seen in outdoor scenes. Princess Marie appears on the lid. All on a yellow or chartreuse background. Manufacturer’s mark says“B Gabriels” of Brussels. Pretty antique patina. The tin dates to circa 1910. The antique wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. This is a lovely sculpture of a beautiful French lady sitting on a marble base or plinth. The woman is made of white metal and gilded and is in the art nouveau style. The sculpture is perched on a green and black marble plinth. The sculpture itself is 4 ½ inches high and it is 5 ¼ inches on the plinth. The sculpture likely started life as an ornament on a 19 th century French clock. The base was chipped in order to make the woman sit properly. The chips can not be seen when the sculpture is in place. There is some gilding loss to the woman. The woman may have been holding a spear or something when on the clock.

Charming. Heavy, high quality set of original Ronson bookends featuring a Cherub, Butterfly and Frog. The Cherub is sitting comfortably with her back resting on the book shaped backplate. She is holding the butterfly on her hand while down on the corner of the baseplate a tiny frog looks on. Adorable. This set is intricately detailed and in good condition. There are some nicks in the rear of the backplate edge. The finish is in very good condition. There are no cracks, repairs, or touch-ups. This is an auction for a beautiful pair of small circa 1775 Bush& Perkins Pewter Plates. Are they butter plates? I was told that these smaller plates are rare. Apparently. These pewter makers were not in this partnership for long, so these are likely from the 1770's from Bristol and Britton, Gloucester, England. The touchmarks include a crown over an X. Next, there is the"B& P" a woman seated, an animal, and a rose. Lastly, there is"London" underneath the touchmarks. Apparently. This touchmark can be found in"Old Pewter, Its Makers and Marks, p. 173, 740. These plates measure approximately 4" in diameter and 1/2" deep. These were owned by Walter S. Gifford who was President of AT&T through most of the 1900's and Ambassador to Great Britain(worked with Winston Churchill) These are some ... moreof the last plates from his estate that I am selling(it is my family estate-he was my great grandfather) He was a significant figure in American history as he worked with many presidents and foreign diplomats during his tenure as President of AT&T(which was the largest company in the world during his tenure) Since he is my great grandfather.
