Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. I am proud to be offering for your consideration this American antique solid mahogany low boy chest circa 1880- 1900? This piece is right out of an old Boston area estate. It's a quality piece. All hand made of heavy solid mahogany. The finish appears to be original and good, but needs to be cleaned up and polished. The original solid brass Chippendale style hardware is all present. The drawers are in good condition and have hand cut dovetails and champhored bottoms. The carcus has plank sides, one side has an old shrinkage crack. The chest sits on tall, thin cabriole style legs that end in carved animal claw and ball feet. The problems are. the claws have been chewed by a dog and the backside has loose glue joints. The oval beveled mirrors on each side swivel inward(back sides are finished) all mirrors have been re-silvered. A piece of veneer on the top right about 2" by 1-1/2" has been replaced(see photo) and there is an area on bottom of oval mirror on the right measuring about 1" by 1" that has been filled, see photo) It has ornate claw feet on legs as well as on each support under the mirror. For auction is this great antique piece of furniture. I am not exactly sure what year it was made. It is in great condition and the wood still has a nice shine to it. Someone along the lines added a screw into the top part to hold the T part more securely. Awesome vintage minature maybe a salesman sample from back in the day. Companies would give these away to seniors in high school hoping the parents would by a larger version. Made of Cedar condition is good NOTHING broken chipped or cracked. The mirror is removable. It measures 12 inches long 4 inches deep and it is 10 inches tall. Note the wonderful little brass drawer pulls. Drawers slide in and out with ease, nothing warped. There are a couple of slight scratches, with a bees wax rub you would never notice them.

This is a lovely mahogany Sheraton-style acanthus carved dresser with flame mahogany fronts. With a country look that only dates from the ... more1930s or‘40s, although it looks like a period piece. We also have a matching bed for sale on our site, if it’s still available. It comes with the two ditty boxes on top, one of which shows some veneer shrinkage on the face, and a dainty little backsplash, along with a solid mahogany top and an empire style rolled flame mahogany top drawer. There are three underneath, as well, which are all dovetail. It also has acanthus carved posts and multi-turned Sheraton-style legs. It has been all re-sprayed in a dark reddish-brown mahogany stain to bring out the gorgeous grains of the flame mahogany veneers. It’s 44 inches wide, 22 inches deep, 45 inches to the top of the large dresser base, and 55 inches to the top of the backsplash. The section on top with the little drawers is 6 inches tall. 1920-1930's Vanity Mirror Tray, Etched Glass Antique Art Nouveau Plateau Perfume
Volack Mirrored Vanity Tray. This gorgeous vanity mirror tray features a brass gallery with double-bird handles. This gallery is connected to a wide beveled glass base through four drilled holes. The wide outer glass rim is decorated with etched floral vines. The vanity tray rests on four brass ball feet and the underside still has its original green felt backing and paper label. The fabulous Art Nouveau style label declares that“ Volack mirror plate reflects quality” This label also mentions that the company was established in 1856. But there is no city or country of origin listed. This large tray measures just under 18” 45.5 cm) in length. It has a width of 11 3/8” 29 cm) and stands 1 1/8” 2.8 cm) tall at the handles. This delicate item will be carefully wrapped and double boxed to ensure safe delivery. Condition: This lovely old piece ... moreis in good condition and displays well. But does have age damage to the mirror’s silvered backing. The mirror has no chips or cracks, but it does have some small scratches from use. There is quite a lot of streaking, spotting and faint yellowing of the silvered underside of the mirror glass(see photos) In addition this silvered layer has an overall“crackled” appearance and has flaked off in a couple of places along the edges. Of course much of the mirror’s surface would be hidden from view when displayed with perfume bottles covering it on your vanity. The floral etched outer rim is in very good shape, with a few light scratches, but no cloudiness. We found five tiny nicks on the outer edges of this floral etched glass(see photos) There are also several tiny insignificant“flea bite” nibbles here and there on the outer edge, but these are not noticeable at all. The green felt backing on the underside of the tray is in very good shape, but it has one yellowed stain located near one of the feet. As with all of our auctions. Offered for your consideration is a stunning bedframe by Gilbert Rohde as designed for Herman Miller Furniture. Part of a suite. This interesting full sized bedframe dates to the 1930’s and is in good condition with mostly original materials that would benefit from restoration. Other pieces in this Art Deco suite are also currently for sale in my other listings. This and all pieces in the suite are numbered 4135. The headboard features a solid dark wood base(possibly Black Walnut) and blond(possibly White Acer) combed wood accent. The footboard has the same dark wood with a Fabrikoid faux leather upholstered interior with blond combed wood on the outside hugging the curves on the wraparound edge. Also included are the sideboards and mattress holders. The sideboards both have the original paper Herman Miller tags used for delivery. Including ... morea partial address. There are six holders that would accommodate a 1x3 support trim and hold a mattress on top. Judging by the holder hardware, the support system was never used to secure wood trim. Please take the time to review the photographs and ask questions. This piece shows wear and needs some restoration. Most of it is original; I suspect that two casters are replacements. The footboard has decorative brass nail head accents with some missing and the Fabrikoid seems a bit stiff. The upholstery also needs some TLC. The wood base has natural scratches from use. The combed wood is in good condition. Overall. This stunning piece will inspire you to build a room around it after a bit of TLC and some professional care. The dresser is of classic French design with carved cabriole legs to the front and pad form feet having a shaped apron with decorative carved scrollwork with three carved panelled doors with raised mouldings and carved star decoration to the centre with mouldings flanking either side of the centre door matching the centre drawer with matched mouldings to the drawers with a raised moulding on a solid mahogany ground. There are classic French style turned knobs with rectangular engraved and pierced back-plates. Complete with a ... moreworking locks and key, with panelled sides. Rising over this is a cabriole leg dresser rack with matched carved decorations to the top with classic star decoration flanked by foliate carvings set in a shaped apron with a flared cornice above. The rack consists three shelves, with a moulded front, each shelf fitted with a plate groove. The drawers have solid mahogany linings with solid mahogany drawer bottoms. Behind each of the lower doors is a single cupboard. A fine quality dresser having an antiqued patinated finish, with good colour and patination.
