Beautiful Delftware Antique tile Delft #2906
Antique Delftware blue tile. Depicting a very strange creature, looks like a jumping camel with tv antenas, circa 19 4 0's. In Good condition, small chip at the right edge, beauti ful age crazing. This tile was made in Portugal and it's marked"Monsanto CCCL Lisboa" It measures 1 5 cm x 1 5 cm( 6" square) I always try my best to combine shipping charges. Antique Art Nouveau Edwardian Yellow & Green Majolica Tile - Corn Brothers ?
Up for auction is an Art Nouveau Edwardian Majolica Tile probably made by Corn Brothers. The tile is 6 inches(approx 15 cm) square. It is decorated with a stylised central image in yellow and green depicting stylised flowerheads. Stems and leaves. All on a cream background. The tile has a lovely glossy majolica finish to the surface. Unfortunately as you can see this tile has the top left corner missing. However it would display well with sensitive framing or could perhaps be used in a project where a part tile was required. Apart from the missing corner there is also a bit of minor chipping/ nibbling affecting the left and bottom edges. There are a couple of tiny marks to the surface towards the lower right corner. And a tiny dark mark below the central image towards the left. The surface of the tile has overall crazing commensurate with ... moreage& the odd scratch. There are a few small areas where the colours are outside their designated areas a common manufacturing flaw in tiles of this period and style. Please enlarge photo to see tile in more detail. Description This is a set of four VICTORIAN ENCAUSTIC FLOOR TILES. Dating from c.1870 Each measures 4.25" square Three of them are unmarked. One has the embossed mark for WILLIAM GODWIN& SONS of Hereford ~ though the others may well be from the Godwin works, as they originated from the same source. They are decorated in a typical Gothic Revival design. If not for floor use. Could be used as very stylish coasters or mounted to make a lovely decorative plaque. Condition: Removed from a late nineteenth century church. So they do have some minimal remnants of old cement and one has a nibble to one corner ~ please do refer to the photographs, they are a true representation of the condition. The tile has a piece of tape on the back stating American Maker Unknown, probably about 1940's. The word STANDARD(question the S) is raised on the back of the tile. Size: 4 1/4" by 4 1/4" 5/16" Thick Condition: Good- There are no cracks or repairs to the tiles front surfaces. I see a nip to the rim. Top left corner, wear and minor losses to the raised inner border surrounding the tea pot and some losses to the raised outline of the tea pot itself. ANTIQUE DELFT CASTLE TILE For sale is one beautiful Dutch Delft tile decorated with a house. Well and ships in the background. The tile is framed with a newer Dutch oak tile frame. As often occurs with these tiles, there are some chips, and dings mostly covered by the frame. Noticeable outside the frame is one chip on the side and a one on the top. There is no maker's mark. The tile measures approximately 5" X 5" and the frame dimensions are 6 1/2" X 6 1/2" I am also selling a similar tile from the same time period under a different listing. Antique English Art Nouveau Majolica Green Moulded Tile red / pink flower
Up for auction is a Majolica Art Nouveau moulded tile maker unknown. The tile measures approx 6 inches(15 cms) square. This tile has a fabulous large image depicting a single stylised flower in a deep pink/ reddish colour with a mustard coloured centre together with swirling stems& stylised leaves. The tile has a lovely glossy majolica glaze predominantly in deep green. See section above for full condition report. Please enlarge photos to see tile in more detail. Please read through for condition issues– they aren’t perfect. Six(6) Vintage H&R Johnson Round Tile Trivets. The each measure approx. 3 ½” in diameter. There are three(3) of each style. The base color is white. And they are decorated orange and green. They are all marked. CONDITION: They appear to have been previously mounted. There is either an adhesive or varnish/shellac residue on the back of each piece which has browned(or started off brown) Green border tiles: o 1) has a small chip on the bottom edge which is slightly visible from a side view. It also has a very small flea bite nick on the bottom edge which is hardly visible(see pics) o 2) has a chip which is visible from a side view. I also felt one small flea bite nick(see pics) from this flea bite there is a hairline crack which has caused some chip loss to the painted area ... moreon the top(see pic) If this were a single tile I wouldn’t list it. But since it is a part of matched set, you may want it regardless. When looking at the main picture. It’s in the bottom left tile(about 5 o’clock) o 3) no found chips. Nicks or flea bites. Orange border tiles: o 1) has a small chip which is slightly visible from the side. I also found two flea bite nicks(see pic) o 2& 3) no found chips. Nicks or flea bites. I have made no attempts to chemically remove the residue on the back. They were only hand washed in warm. Sudsy water and not soaked. I did not want to jeopardize their integrity. Antique Minton Hollins& Co. Fireplace Tiles Circa: 1870's Dimensions: 2" square x 1/2" depth Manufacturer: Minton Hollins& Co. England. No.13 A wonderful pair of forest green glazed ceramic tiles with a center rosette and small fluer de lis motifs. A prevalent Victorian pattern seen in England and America during the 1870's. Both tiles are marked by the manufacturer. They are unrestored. With normal wear, very minor crazing, and small chips as shown, otherwise they are in very fine condition. They were recently salvaged from a south side Victorian home in Chicago and are guaranteed authentic as described. Ca. 1879 Wedgwood“ August” ceramic 6” X 6” wall tile. This intense blue and white tile(so intense that it gives the transfer an almost flow blue look) comes from the“Old English 12 Months Series” drawn by Victorian artist Helen J.A.Miles( NOT Kate Greenaway as some erroneous ebay listings have stated) Helen Miles was a freelance illustrator of the same era who designed the Old English or Calendar series of tiles for Josiah Wedgwood. As well as illustrating multiple childrens books. Because the young women working in the tile factories who applied the transfers were often illiterate. A high percentage of this series had portions or even all of the lettering missing because the words had no meaning for them. Notice that only the A of August appears on this tile!
