This little bird was hand cast and hand painted. I have always loved concrete statues. And was fortunate to grow up in a family that made them. They add so much personality to the garden. Highly unusual vintage garden branch weights Vintage garden branch weights C1930. French. Weight is 50 long and measures 45 dia at the top and 30 at the base. Possibly home made. The weights are cast from a terracotta coloured sand and cement mix using a small flower pot as a mould. The wooden"nipper" clothes peg is held in position with a wire staple through the eye of the spring- this is inserted while the mixture is still wet. Although in"as found" condition they are very good and undamaged- just weather worn. Part of a small collection we recently bought from a French garden enthusiast. They were used to train the young boughs on ornamental and fruit bearing trees. The weight was clipped on in an appropriate place to bend the branch down to the desired position so that eventually it grew that way. Vintage Thrown Italian Olive Pottery Jug 1960's 0143 We've carried these old Italian Olive Jugs WHEN we can find them. Our dealier imported CRATE loads of them several years ago. Unfortunately MOST of them were just crushed by the time they made it to his warehouse. They had stacked them one on top of the other in wooden crates with NO padding(ugh) It was only mostly the later(1960 ish) ones that survived the trip. The reason being that they are much THICKER than the earlier ones. This is one of the lucky few that somehow made the trip.although it DOES have several cracks that you can see on the interior which have been crudely repaired on the outside(pictured below) Regardless. The jug is SO thick that it displays BEAUTIFULLY. The interior is glazed. I love the droopy neck on this one. BOTH handles are intact. Vintage garden- four tine scratch hoe Four tine scratch hoe C1930. English. No makers name but the Registered Number 730828 is for 1927. Length in total 465. Handle is 35 long. Width across tool head is 90. The hoe/cultivator is stamped and pressed from sheet steel. The elegantly shaped handle is turned from ash. Cleaned and polished- in nice used condition. Much of the original red paint finish is intact. The handle has a lovely"tiger stripe" grain and is silky smooth from years of use and wear. A very useful tool for light cultivating and weeding in annual borders. The crossbars have large cast iron flower where they intersect. There is surface rust overall. It measures 43 inches long and is 42 inches tall. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are a couple of light bends. The keeper is damaged. One embellishment is missing. They are made of cast aluminum and painted black;2 have aluminum color on the back- they measure on average 11 1/2" high(counting the stake) X 8"each is just a bit different in size by fractions of an inch so these measurements are a close average. Hello, Here's(4) sections of CURVED IRON FENCE, I am told it was made by a St.Louis company for GRACELAND but for some reason was never used. I was going to use in my landscaping but had to drop this project. Perhaps someone with Graceland has seen this or someone good at research can find out more about this fencing. I am a artist& inventor& I bought this fencing because it's unusual& I was going to flare it out on both sides of iron gate(also listed for sale) The sections vary in length from 3' 9" to 4' 9" approx 45" tall. Horz. bars are 33" center to center, the vert. bars are 3/4" sq. solid on 6" centers As you can see by pictures fencing will need a little elbow grease to straighten.
