One Laminated Religious card. St. Nicholas aka Saint Nick is the Patron Saint of many causes and is most commonly known as the Patron Saint of Children; ... morealso. His story is usually retold around Christmas because of the many stories of his kindness towards children espcially orphaned, foster, and homeless children during Christmas Season. Information on Relics: Relic card reads"Ex Induments" which is Latin for"from the clothing" This phrase was originally designated for 2nd Class Relics ONLY as they were from the clothing of the Saints or Blessed individuals; however. Contemporary relic manufacturers have been using the phrase as a way to identify 3rd Class Relics as well. Making it difficult to identify the correct class of Relics. 3rd Class Relics are pieces of cloth. Canvas, or any item that has touched the to a First or Second Class Relic of the Saint the intent that it be a Third Class Relic. In the case of a 3rd Class Relic. The Catholic Church states may be given to individuals and may be sold; unlike the 1st Class Relic which the Catholic Church does not allow the sale of. In the case of the 4th Class Relic, they are are virtually the same as Third Class Relics. The Third Class Relics on the Medals: These are typically what you purchase on a Pilgrimage to a Shrine of a Saint. When you look at the back of a medal and see a small piece of cloth set in red that small piece of cloth is the relic. The outer edge will either have raised lettering or engraving that reads“EX INDUMENTIS” Latin for"touched cloth" You will notice that all of these medals are made in Italy as they are sanctioned by the Vatican. When properly reverenced. Relics are considered to be powerful Sacramentals, in order for this to occur, the Church recommends ALL Relics to be blessed by a Deacon or Priest of the Roman Catholic Church. Relics are NOT to be taken lightly! These are considered precious gifts from our Holy Saints and to be treated with reverence and respect. Dimensions: approximately 3 7/8 inches hi

First class relic Saint John Eudes
First class relic( ex 0ssibus) of Saint John Eudes. John Eudes was born at Ri. Normandy, France, on November 14, 1601, the son of a farmer. He went to the Jesuit college at Caen when he was 14, and despite his parents' wish that he marry, joined the Congregation of the Oratory of France in 1623. He studied at Paris and at Aubervilliers, was ordained in 1625, and worked as a volunteer, caring for the victims of the plagues that struck Normandy in 1625 and 1631, and spent the next decade giving Missions, building a reputation as an outstanding preacher and confessor and for his opposition to Jansenism. He became interested in helping fallen women, and in 1641, with Madeleine Lamy, founded a refuge for them in Caen under the direction of the Visitandines. He resigned from the Oratorians in 1643 and founded the Congregation of Jesus and Mary(the ... moreEudists) at Caen, composed of secular priests not bound by vows but dedicated to upgrading the clergy by establishing effective seminaries and to preaching missions. His foundation was opposed by the Oratorians and the Jansenists, and he was unable to obtain Papal approval for it, but in 1650, the Bishop of Coutances invited him to establish a seminary in that diocese. The same year the sisters at his refuge in Caen left the Visitandines and were recognized by the Bishop of Bayeux as a new congregation under the name of Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Refuge. John founded seminaries at Lisieux in 1653 and Rouen in 1659 and was unsuccessful in another attempt to secure Papal approval of his congregation. But in 1666 the Refuge sisters received Pope Alexander III's approval as an institute to reclaim and care for penitent wayward women. John continued giving missions and established new seminaries at Evreux in 1666 and Rennes in 1670. He shared with St. Mary Margaret Alacoque the honor of initiating devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus(he composed the Mass for the Sacred Heart in 1668) and the Holy Heart of Mary, popularizing the devotions with his"The Devot

Normal 0 RELIGIOUS RELIC OF SAINT CLARE(picture not included) I found this item(piece of cloth) in a lot from an auction together with a picture of some Nuns(shown in scan above) There was evidence in the lot that it came from Poor Clare Monastery in Nottigham(http:www.poorclaresnottingham.org.uk/ Saint Clare History. Clare’s father was a count. Her mother the countess Blessed Orsolana. Her father died when the girl was very young. After hearing Saint Francis of Assisi preach in the streets. Clare confided to him her desire to live for God. And the two became close friends. On Palm Sunday in 1212. Her bishop presented Clare with a palm. Which she apparently took as a sign. With her cousin Pacifica, Clare ran away from her mother‘s palace during the night to enter religious life. She eventually took the veil from Saint Francis at the Church ... moreof Our Lady of the Angels in Assisi. Italy. Clare founded the Order of Poor Ladies(Poor Clares) at San Damiano. And led it for 40 years. Everywhere the Franciscans established themselves throughout Europe. There also went the Poor Clares, depending solely on alms, forced to have complete faith on God to provide through people; this lack of land-based revenues was a new idea at the time. Clare’s mother and sisters later joined the order. And there are still thousands of members living lives of silence and prayer. Clare loved music and well-composed sermons. She was humble. Merciful, charming, optimistic, chivalrous, and every day she meditated on the Passion of Jesus. She would get up late at night to tuck in her sisters who’d kicked off their blankets. When she learned of the Franciscan martyrs in Morrocco in 1221. She tried to go there to give her own life for God. But was restrained. Once when her convent was about to be attacked. She displayed the Sacrament in a monstrace at the convent gates, and prayed before it; the attackers left. The house was saved, and the image of her holding a monstrance became one of her emblems. Her patronage of eyes and ag

Saint Anne RELIC - Patron of Housewives, Women in labor, Grandmothers, Miners
Wonderful 1st class Relic of Saint Anna The auction is for the beautiful old silver case who used to be owned by a nun; The relic is free. Saint Anne(also known as Ann or Anna. From Hebrew Hannah חַנָּה, meaning"favor" or"grace" of David's house and line, was the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ, according to Christian and Islamic tradition. Mary's mother is not named in the canonical gospels, nor in the Qur'an. Anne's name and that of her husband Joachim come only from New Testament apocrypha, of which the Protoevangelium of James(written perhaps around 150) seems to be the earliest that mentions them. RELICS The supposed relics of St. Anne were brought from the Holy Land to Constantinople in 710 and were kept there in the church of St. Sophia as late as 1333. During the twelfth ... moreand thirteenth centuries returning crusaders and pilgrims from the East brought relics of Anne to a number of churches. Including most famously those at Apt, in Provence, Ghent, and Chartres. St. Anne's relics have been traditionally preserved and venerated in the many cathedrals and monasteries dedicated to her name, for example in Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, and Greece in Holy Mount and the city of Katerini. Medieval and baroque craftsmanship is evidenced in the striking metalwork of the life-size reliquaries containing the bones of her forearm for example. Examples employing folk art techniques are also known. Düren has been the main place of pilgrimage for Anne since 1506. When Pope Julius II decreed that her relics should be kept there. PATRONAGE St. Anne is patroness of unmarried women. Housewives, women in labor, grandmothers, horseback riders, cabinet-makers, and the Mi'kmaq people of Canada. As the Mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the devotion to St Anne as the patron of miners arises from the medieval comparison between the Virgin Mary and Christ and precious metals- silver and gold. Anne's womb was considered the source from which these precio

CATHOLIC RELIC HOLY CARD BLESSED MARTIN DE PORRES, NOW A SAINT! 50+ years old.
This small Catholic relic card is pre-1962 since BLESSED Martin De Porres became SAINT Martin De Porres through canonization in May of 1962. Also. The address on the back of the card is for Chicago 8, Illinois. The USPS changed to Zip Codes in 1963. That makes this card over 50 years old. As you can see in the pic with the quarter for reference, it is 3.5 inches long and 1.25 inches wide. There is a small dot of what appears to be candle wax on his right collar bone area, no doubt from a candle in church. Probably could be softened and removed with a hair dryer, but I think it adds ambiance to the card. You can see in the pics that the relic is a tiny piece of linen laid on the casket containing the head of Bl. Martin. Shipping is free via First Class USPS. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
