This company existed from 1883 to 1906; ... morein 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Company to form Red Wing Union Stoneware Company. The embossed writing on the bottom is 1/2 of an inch tall and says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO RED WING; however due to sloppiness during manufacturing, some of this writing is indecipherable. The handle was attached by hand and was attached at an angle; this and other manufacturing defects make this jug unique. This jug was touching another piece of stoneware during firing and when the two pieces were separated, the other piece got off with some of this jug's glaze from the handle and side. This jug is 8 3/4" tall and the bottom is 7 3/4" in diameter. This jug has 0 cracks and 0 chips, however it does have some glaze skips and the previously mentioned manufacturing defects. Check out my other listings as I combine shipping when practical. This saves the buyer money. The buyer is assured this MINNESOTA STONEWARE jug will be well packaged and shipped promptly. Buckeye Pottery Company 3 Gallon Antique Stoneware Jug, (late 1800s-early 1900s)
Joseph Pech along with his sons W. J. and Frank established the Buckeye Pottery in Macomb in 1882. Pech. Born in Bohemia on June 15, 1827, apprenticed for 12 years as a potter in Vienna, Austria. Buckeye Pottery was located on Carroll Street. Near the railroad. At the peak of its production. The company employed 20 individuals. The clay came primarily from Macomb County. Wares were marketed to Illinois. Nebraska, Iowa, and other western states. In 1939. Haeger Company purchased Buckeye Pottery and used the pottery to manufacture Haeger floral artware. Offering great antique stoneware jug that has a nice cobalt blue stamp on the front indicating it was made by Buckeye Pottery Company located in Macomb. Illinois. The center says it is the Blue Ribbon Brand, and it is a 3 gallon size. The piece has a cream colored base and then a brown glazed ... moretop with an applied handle. This jug might have had a lid at one time and might even have been a churn. The jug is in very good condi tion with no c racks or chips. Obviously the pictures are faded all around. For your consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made by the BUCKEYE POTTERY of MACOMB ILLINOIS. This jug is a one gallon size and is the cone top style. I do not know much about this company. What I do know is this company was formed in 1882 and was sold in 1941; I beleive this jug to have been manufactured during the first decade of the twentieth century. In 1882, the technology to use this type of glaze had not been invented. The companies that I have studied got the technology to use this type of glaze between 1894 and 1901. From the table to the shoulder is approximately 7" This jug has a total height of approximately 10 3/4" The bottom is slightly over 7" in diameter. This jug has a crack on the cone, not far from the handle. It has a chip on the shoulder and another chip on the lip. There are three minor to insignificant ... morechips where the sides meet the bottom. This jug displays wonderfully, but is not perfect; before purchasing, please carefully look at the photos. Antique Douglass Clay Products Co Anomaly 1 Gallon Water Jug-Rare
This is an antique Douglass Clay Product Co 1 gallon water jug. The Douglass Clay Product Co in Los Angeles. CA operated from 1903-1910 when it was bought out by another company, but they continued to make vessels after this time, but apparently under that company's name. The clay products in the LA area were so good due to the exceptionally fine clay found in Southern California. This one has a logo for Douglass that we have not seen anywhere else. The jug also has anomalies that occurred in the manufacturing of the jug, making it doubly unique. There is a small hole in side of jug that someone tried to tape over. I have not removed this tape. There is a chip on top rim, several small chips in bottom edge, few chips on bottom and some coloring is coming off the top rim. The handle has a few small chips. This F. B. Norton& Co. Worchester. Mass. jug came from an auction in Vermont. When I bid on the jug, I had no idea it had problems. The top has chips, see the 6th picture. The bottom has one chip, see the 7th picture. There is some light chipping in the design, see the 8th picture. The handle has two cracks, see the 10th and 11th picture, and there is a crack around the top, see the 5th, 6th, and last pictures. It measures 14.5 inches tall and 8.5" in diameter at the base.

It is a 1 gallon shoulder/whiskey jug. It has the maple leaf logo on the front. The jug is about 10.5 inches tall and just under 7 inches in diameter. It was preowned but was very well taken care of. I see a few shallow chips on the front rim(where the white portion begins) There is a 3 inch rough section along the rim on the back, as well as a small hairline crack. There is a small spot on the mouth of the jar where it wasn't completely covered with the brown glaze. I believe any other imperfections I see are only production flaws. I have two vintage whiskey jugs. Brown on top and beige on bottom. I cannot find any kind of markings on them. I think they may be 5 gallon judging by the measurements of others that look similar on eBay. They measure approximately 15 inches tall by a 10 inch diameter. Large and heavy. I have a 10 lb. scale and each is over on that so I am unsure as to the exact weight. Will update when possible. I cannot find any cracks, there is one chip on the botton of one jug as pictured.

Two Gallon Beehive Style Multi Colored Stoneware Jug
For your consideration is a two gallon stoneware jug. This jug is the beehive style with a slightly ovoid shape and the glaze has more than one color. This jug was made in such a way that part of the handle is above the opening. This jug has a maximum height of approximately 11 1/2" and the bottom is almost 9 3/8" in diameter. The yellows and browns are the different colors in the glaze. However the dark red was made by me where I colored glaze peeling, glaze flaking and other imperfections with a permanent felt tip marker; I can't criticize myself for the coloring, because it does look better. This jug has 0 cracks, however it does have a chip on the opening and many chips around the bottom. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. The glaze goes into the interior of the jug. The glaze is scuffed on the handle. It has a small dent about 0.5 cm in diameter. The cylinder is cream-colored and semi-glossy glazed. It has some discoloration and scuffs. The glaze is worn slightly in a few spots. The jug has no cracks in the side or base. This whiskey jug was in my grandparents garage for years. It is a gallon ju g made of heavy stoneware ceramic with a glass like salt glaze on the top and inside. There are no markings. The jug has a carved wooden stopper. The glaze is unusual in that the color is not as brown as other jugs like it. Early J. Fisher Lyons NY Jug 2 Gallon Cobalt Script Design Stoneware Antique
This 2 gallon jug came from an auction in Vermont. It has the cobalt script design with the number 2 and the imprint J. Fisher Lyons. NY. This is the mark of Jacob Fisher who ran the pottery in Lyons, N.Y. from 1872 through 1902. The jug measures 13 1/2" high and 9" in diameter at the base. It is in good condition for it's age, no cracks. There are two chips on the spout, see the 7th and 8th pictures. There is some wear, use and surface marks. The base has a surface chip/rub spot, see the 11th picture. The jug is a tan color.

Up for auction is a 1850's Edmands& Co. 2 gallon cobalt blue decorated speckled bird on branch stoneware jug. This image is of a lovely speckled bird perched on a branch. The specks on the bird and the leaves are heavily raised dots of cobalt blue. There are some large cracks to the body(as shown in photos) Also a chip on the handle and a couple of small chips to the bottom of this jug. However, this does not take away from this rare image, still in such great condition. Edmands& Co. was in Charlestown, Mass. Edward and Thomas Edmands ran the pottery company from 1852- 1868. Here is a spectacular 1 gallon size stoneware brown jug. Four scribe lines around the top edge give crispness. The neck is precisely formed. The attachment of handle to the jug shows purpose and care. Two tendrils of glaze add character. This is a very well made piece. The jug is 12 inches tall.
