Very Nice Vintage/ Antique Stone or Slate Ethiopian Coptic Icon For your consideration is an Ethiopian Coptic Christian Icon made of what I believe is slate due to the weight. It is very nicely carved and features two opening doors. One on each side, that when opened reveal four saints. I am unsure of the age of the piece, but the original owner bought it in Egypt in the 1970's from an antique dealer. The piece is very traditionally done, so it could be quite old. It measures 4.5 x 2.75 inches when closed and each panel is 2.25 x 2.5 inches. If you have any questions or need more pictures just ask. Antique 19th century icon of the Dormition of Mary. Most Holy Mother of God in Old Church Slavonic done in egg tempera on warped wood panel that has split. Icon measures 15 X 12 1/2 inches and was found at a yard sale in Ashland, Pennsylvania. It appears to have had some touch up in the area along the crack. Saints pictured from left to right are: St. Dionysius(the Areopagite) and St. Seraphrim, both dressed as bishops. Next row on left is the Apostle Paul, Christ holding the soul of Mary and another unknown saint.

18" high X 13" wide X 1.5" deep This is an authentic piece of Mexican folk art that I picked from an old barn in Chihuahua. Chih. It is very, very old and has an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe(the Patron Saint of all Mexico) under glass the entire frame is hand made. IT IS NOT NEW AND DOESN'T LOOK NEW. So don't expect something that looks like it came out of some gallery in Santa Fe. It's way too cool for that. I have had this item for 20 years and have done nothing to it save the occasional dusting. There are still cobwebs inside the glass just like the day I found it. The size of the icon is 9.7 cm. high(without the loop hanger) 9.0 cm. wide, and 1.3 cm. thick. It has an overall weight of 162.0 grams. Front of the icon is decorated with enamel hand painting of the Virgin Mary and red stones. Back side of the icon is decorated with orthodox cross and russian inscription. Very nice and rare item in excellent condition. The enamel painting is appr. 41 X 49 mm. Comes from the Russian whiteguard family emigrated here in 1921. A very beautiful nrique greek icon from 19thC. It is Hand-painted with egg tempera on wood covered with metal. Size: 23/32 cm( 9.05/ 12.60 inch) Pesent icon comes from my private collection! It was bought in Lesbos island. Greece. The icon is called The Panagia Glykophilousa. Sweet-kissing" or"Loving Kindness" icon depicts the Virgin Mary caressing her Son. So that they appear to be kissing. In the Byzantine representations, the Child caresses her cheek while she appears sad, seemingly contemplating his coming Passion. The representation from the Cretan School of the 17th Century shows very pronounced characteristics of the Virgin Mother. A similar icon to compare to the Glykophilousa is the Eleousa(the Virgin of Tenderness) Where the Mother is accepting the affection demonstrated by the Child Christ. Antique Filipino Hand Carved Wooden NATIVITY FIGURE Top Hatted Lady Santo Figure
This unique old Filipino Nativity figuring is one of several great devotional antiques I have listed this week so please check out all my items. Hand carved from wood. I bought this old figure from a collection of santos from all countries. This would have been part of a nativity scene-a villager visiting the stable I believe. The tag at bottom I believe is an export permit. Height is 7.5" from base to top of hat. Base was made later than the figure. Paint has been stabilized. Ebay is full of new handcrafts sold as old(see below) but this is not one of them. The last photo above is of an extraordinary early copper retablo of the Immaculate Conception and not part of this auction.
