Description This is a great antique piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of walnut and is currently painted red. It has it's original cap. The top has large bullseyes on three sides. The shaft has fluting with bullseyes in the middle on all 4 sides. It is notched for the step but is freestanding. It measures 54 inches tall and is 8 inches square at the base. It is 6 square at the shaft. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Gorgeous Large Primitive Antique Wood Architectural Pediment Piece Post 13 lbs
Gorgeous Large Primitive Antique Wood Architectural Pediment Piece Post 13 lbs I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! Here's another show stopper today- and I don't think that my photos do it justice. It weighs actually. 13 1/2 lbs of solid wood- it's an architectural pediment of some sort- not sure where it lived in the building, but it will be yours to decide now. This is a beautiful primitive piece, with wornwornworn finish that is down to the wood in many spots, and crackled and alligatored in others. It measures 34 5/8" tall, 7" wide and 4 1/2" deep measuring ... morefrom the back to the highest point in the front. The wood of the background is dark to the point of almost black, and the raised areas either were left light on purpose, or have lost most of their finish, it's hard to tell which. If you look at photos 10, 11& 20, I'm showing a 1/4" chip, and a sliver next to it gone to the top of the wood at one end(the smaller raised end) it's right on the edge of the raised area. It looks like the top of the raised area may have been veneer, and that's what has chipped( or it just could be the wood chipped there, because, believe me, it's solid wood underneath. I'm not sure aoubt that, though, and this is the only spot that makes me question- there's no other chips that look like it may be veneer- so supersize and see what you think. That being said, there ARE other small chips to the piece, along with scrathes, scrapes, nicks, dings and cracks. It's rustic, but gorgeous and totally solid and sturdy. I'm not sure if I have it upside down or right side up in my photos( but either short end is unfinished, with holes from whenever it was in place, and the same goes for the back. This is a stateme

Description This is a nice pair that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. They are made of chestnut and are currently painted white. They have fluted shafts and decorative moldings. They are not notched for the step. One has its original cap which is cracked and the other is missing the cap and molding just below it. It measures 37.5 without the cap. 6.5 square at the base and 5 inches square at the shaft. Overall they are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. 2 Primitive Antique Turned Wood Posts Black Finish Furniture or Architectural? I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! What can I say- I just loved the look of this antique dynamic duo. The old black paint is shabby and worn. With the wood showing in all the right places, and the wood is turned into a lovely and interesting shape. Now, I don't know if they were an architectural detail, or if they were part of a piece of furniture, so I have listed them in both. Made of solid wood, you can see they were affixed to whatever on one side of each piece. There's two holes on the top, ... moreand one on the bottom. Both of the very top holes still have parts of the wood pins that used to affix them inside of the holes, as does one of the bottom holes- see my photos. Each one measures 17 1/2" long. One end is 1 3/4" square and they are painted, the other end looks more like a foot, they are unfinished and measure 1 5/8" diameter. The widest part of the pieces is one of the round areas and it is 2 3/4" wide. They are both in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally with minor nicks, scratches, nibbles and scrapes to the wood. There's a little chipping up by the holes at the finished end where the pin inserts. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they may be oak, from the peeks of wood that I see. They are both barn fresh dirtydustydirty and could use a good cleaning. I have one word for these: prettyprettypretty! Please ask if you have any questions. The tallest is approx 51” high and the shorter of the two is approx 49” high. Each base is 7-1/2” square, the midsections are 6” square and the tops are 8-1/2” square. Hi this piece measures 47" tall x a base diameter of 7 1/2" Made of red oak it has a solid weight of 25 pounds. Hi for sale I have an antique old Newel Post. The post is made of red oak. Has a nice primitive look but it could be cleaned up to look better. The stain has scratches on it. The bottom has a chuck out of it. This is where it was removed from the original stair case. Antique Solid Oak Architectural Carved Victorian Newel ? Post Column Pillar
Solid oak post or column measuring about 23 1/4" tall. The diameter of the plain end measures about 5" and the other end where the carving is measures about 7" in diameter. Some areas of the column are straight cut oak while on 2 sides there is tiger oak grain showing. This piece is unfinished. The end with the carving is flat on the bottom while the other end is concave.There is a small piece of the turned ring near the carved portion that is missing. Left over from a staircase I installed close to forty years ago(see bottom images) My guess would be that the wood is Chestnut. There are nicks and scratches, as well as some nail holes where handrail attached. The post measures 25-1/2" in height x 5-1/2" x 6-7/8" at square side widths. The turned parts are 5" dia. at the top and the smallest diameter is 3-3/16" Three faces have identical designs. Fourth is where railing attached; one small square broken nail remains. THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE pair of COLUMNs. Hi for sale I have ONE Pair of Antique architectural salvaged wood carved porch Columns or pilllars. I believe the wood is pine. They are painted white and have a chippy patina. 2 soild ~4 sided pieces. Photos 1- 7 show the full piece columns. 8-12 show the 1/2 columns. The second photo shows how I have used a pair in my home. I added hang hood and heavy wire to the back of the columns. I then added a heavy photo hook to my wall, then I hung the columns to the wall. They each have some damage to the bottoms. FOUR HAND CARVED 6 FOOT PILLERS/POLES ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL SERPENT DESIGN
These hand carved pillars are from Japan. They came out of Santa Fe. NM. These are elegant, ornate, detailed, large, heavy and have Serpens, curlicues and a lot of architectural work on them. They measure 6 tall feet overall. There is a 5" area that fits into a recessed area. The tops of these pillars have another 5" carved out, smooth area, that would fit into a top, recessed area. Their circumference is 12" around. The circumference of the tops and bottoms that go into the recessed areas are 9" These pillars have been used and displayed outdoors. They have gold colored paint dusted over them which is worn from age. They would be gorgeous indoors, as well as outdoors. Some have small portions chipped off. Antique Architectural Salvage Weathered Column Cap - Christmas Tree Pedestal
If this column cap could talk. I would be willing to bet it has more sordid stories and harrowing tales than Rob Ford. This exquisitely ornate, gorgeously weathered column cap is a magnificent piece of historic salvage. Chipped, peeling paint unearth the gritty texture hidden beneath the bone white exterior. The imperfect details, like cracked corners and a slight lean, give it character, while the flourishing curliques and imposing European charm belie what must have been a wealthy past in a building of grand stature. Shockingly, this isn't as heavy as you might expect(around 20 lbs, easy enough for this admittedly weak-armed shopkeep to lift) which makes it easy to repurpose for plenty of uses. My first thought was that this would be an incredible, one-of-a-kind pedestal for a Christmas tree, either real or fake(though you might need ... moreto slip something underneath one side to make it a bit more stable and cure the lean) However, if you have a bigger table, it would make an incredible centerpiece on its own, and could easily be accented with a candelabra, tealights, or bottlebrush trees. Year round, use it as a plant stand, small accent table, or just as salvage-chic decor. Measures approximately 14.5" wide. 15" tall. Please note: the paint is incredibly delicate and chips very easily. In person pickup is highly recommended. But I will be happy to ship. This auction is for one(1) antique vintage victorian wooden architectural porch spindle post/column. It was removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. I have no idea in what year this particular post was put on the porch. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the post was here when we bought it. We think it was salvaged in the early 70’s and has been stored in a garage. It has fantastic carving and details. The Newel Post that is 26 ½ inches tall. Base is 9 ½ inches across and the top is 6 ½ inches across on the largest side. There are a couple of chipped places. One is at the very top and is about 2 ½ inches and the other is 1 ½ inches on a top rung. There is a cut out for the step at the bottom but is freestanding. The total measurements are 46.25 inches tall by 7.75 inches square at the base and 6 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. It needs a final finish sanding and it needs a finial. ~ ORNATE ANTIQUE WALNUT NEWEL POST WITH FINIAL ~ ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE ~
Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of walnut and is painted. It has the original finial at the top. The upper shaft has large bullseyes on 3 sides. The lower shaft is fluted with bullseyes in the middle. It is notched for the step but is freestanding. It measures 54.5 inches tall by 7.5 square at the base and 6 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are chips with loss at the top under the finial and at the base where it met the step. There is a cut-away where the handrail met the post. COLUMN CAPITAL CAST IRON ANTIQUE VINTAGE INDUSTRIAL DECORATIVE ARCHITECTURAL
You are viewing a very rare and beautiful architectural item from the" Cast Iron Building" age of the 1800's. A cast iron column capital that was used by architects to decorate building columns which may have been entirely cast iron or heavy wood timbers. This is part of a four piece set. One for each of the four sides of a square column. The our sides were attached with bolts through the bolt holes. It looks very heavy, and is at 20 pounds. This piece has a great patina with traces of old paint and some expected normal rusting. The dimensions are: 13" high x 15" wide x 1" thick at the thickest point. It makes a great architectural decorative item which can be displayed on a wall, shelf, outdoors or just about anywhere. Antique Turned Painted Wood Newel Architectural Post Mustard Color
Antique Wood Newel Post Old estate find. This is an old turned wood newel post that would have been at the bottom of a staircase or part of a railing. Solid turned wood with nice architectural detail. It is painted an old mustard color and there is wear to the paint and some edges of the wood as you would expect from an old piece. There is significant wear, old damage on the bottom(see pic 8&9) Still in nice old antique condition, these posts make great decorating pieces to sit next to a fireplace, etc. Newel post measures 38" tall and is about 3.5" across.
