The following auction is for a 2006 Yuan Qin 4/4 violin. Model 850F. Yuan Qin violins are h and-carved from aged-select tone-woods. Spruce top of medium to fine grain. Maple back of well defined. Narrow to medium flame. Ribs and scroll similar to back. German ebony fingerboard. Finished in a spirit varnish of a pleasant reddish brown on a golden ground. It has some signs of wear. A small dent on it's edge(see pictures) and is missing the bridge. This model in good condition is worth $700- $900; this one will need a little TLC to bring it back to its full potential. I picked up this vintage shogi board made of what I am told is solid kaya wood at an auction in Japan last year. It is very similar in style to the board used in the game of go( goban) however it is smaller and has fewer grid spaces than the go board. This shogiban(shogi board) is made with one solid 3 1/2" 9 cm) thick top slab. It dates back to the late Meiji Era(c. 1910) This board has four nicely carved 3 3/4" 9.5 cm) feet(for a total height of 7 1/4" 18.5 cm) It has been well played yet well loved and has a rich patina that years of loving use has provided. This board has a well played top surface that is still clear and playable(see pictures) Aside from some slight discoloration in some parts of the wood. This board remains in very fine condition. Primitive Tribal Fertility Figure Art Hand Carved Wood Copper Patina Aged This piece is a remarkable hand carved primitive tribal fertility figure. It is wood with what looks like copper metal. Note that the metal ornamentation on the face of the piece includes embossed birds and other patterns and it is attached to the wood using what looks like small nails. The metal has a turquoise colored patina which makes me think the metal is copper. It's quite a beautiful decorative piece. There are some old scratches on some of the wooden areas and a scrape on the right side of the head that appears to be newer. It does have several scratches from normal use. At the very top of the piece it there is an area that is lighter and looks to be repaired(please see photos for details) I am NOT an expert on this type of artwork- This is JUST my opinion. ... moreIt measures about 21" tall. I have this beautiful antique long wooden tray that features raised wooden handles at each end. There's a lot of intricate. Detailed carving on the tray itself in the form of an iris or tulip, on the handles. There is what appears to be a German word or name carved into one end of the tray. My parents purchased this tray decades ago in PA so I think it could be Pennsylvania Dutch. The tray remains in excellent condition; look over the photos to get a more complete overall picture.
