Porter Aged Duck decoy 1880's style Mason Bluebill hand carved painted wood
This 1880's Style Mason Bluebill aged duck decoy was carved. Painted, aged by William and George Porter George is a award winning decoy carver. And folk artist, he has been featured in numerous newspaper articles and featured on PBS's Discover Wisconsin. He works alongside his son William. Each decoy is a little bit of heart and soul from this father-son team. Aged look and painted just like a 1880's Mason bluebill The decoy is 14.75" long and stands 5.5" tall at top of the head. 3.5" at the top of the back. and 5.5" wide. This decoy is handcarved from WI native white pine. First a rough top view is band sawed out. Then a rough side view, and then using a hatchet and rasp the body is rounded out. JAPANESE ANTIQUE 100+ YEAR OLD WOOD SHOGI CHESS GAME BOARD RICH AGED PATINA
I picked up this well played antique shogi board made of what appears to be solid keyaki(zelkova) wood at an auction in Japan last year. It is very similar in style to the board used in the game of go( goban) however it is smaller and has fewer grid spaces than the go board. This shogiban(shogi board) is made with one solid 2" 5 cm) thick top slab. It dates back to the late Meiji Era(c. 1910) This board has four nicely carved 3 1/2" 9 cm) feet(for a total height of 5 1/2" 14 cm) It has been well played yet well loved and has a rich patina that years of loving use has provided. This board has a well played top surface that. While worn thin, is still visible and playable(see pictures) This well cured. Aged board is sure to stand the test of time for another century.
