Vintage Antique Textile Sampler Needlepoint Embroidery Silhouette Wall Hanging
Antique needlework sampler. Silhouette of a woman& man meeting, and a boy& girl at play. Found in original frame with old glass. Stitch initials, signed"FAPB" by maker, in lower left corner. Signed by maker, in cursive hand writing, on paper label, on reverse side: Mrs. Beresford 8 New Rd Overstand Cromer" Measures approximately 12 1/4" X 5" Black on gold colors. Size of needlework bigger than petitepoint size, but smaller than regular needlepoint work. Work is neat. The backing of the frame has brass loops and old string for hanging. The nails need to be properly hammered back in. The wood frame& backing show minimal signs of use& age. The textile is in good condition. Out of a clean, smoke-free home. 12 photos to view. But larger items that need a box bigger than 6in x 6in x 6in will be much more expensive. I have always done my best to keep postage as low as I can, but I’m fighting a losing battle this time. This is an old sampler. Probably made around 1820. It is a piece of thin. Loosely woven fabric, and the names are done in tiny cross stitch, in fine black thread. It was done by the youngest of the sixteen children. Diane May, who was born in December 1806. It has the names and dates of birth of George and Elizabeth May(1760 and 1766) Then the ... morenames and dates of birth of all of their children. It is in good condition for almost 200 years old. But it is discoloured(probably dirt) and it has been folded to fit a frame. There is just one tiny hole, on the upper right edge, that is only a couple of threads wide. It measures 42cm(16.5 inches) x 32cm(12.5 inches) HINTS AND TIPS Just a few little tips that might make life easier. If you buy more than one item I will combine them and discount postage wherever possible. Also Royal mail have made the minimum postal charge for UK packets up to 750gms. This is a very nice victorian frame which is complete with all 4 porcelain tips. The paper punch is nice and clean and the wording is very readable. There are a couple of holes between the T and R in TRUST. But with the wood shingle back. That is not very noticeable. Perfect 6.5" square wood framed floral paperpunch sampler as shown. It is missing 2/3 of it's shingle back which reveals an advertising paper dated 1875. Nice size and unique pattern. The flowers are red and a rustly orange. Nice antique condition. There is sticker reside on the bottom left side of the glass. From the middle to the right side. The paper background is darker as shown in our photographs. The sampler is held fully in the frame, but you'll want to add nails to the side without the shingle to secure it firmly. Refer to pic 1) with"thee" and other small changes to the version most people use. It was found in a trunk with items from the early 1900s. The outside edge has tattering. Rare Antique Victorian Motto Punch Punched Paper Sampler Poem 1904
For Auction is a very nice unique antique punch paper sampler from 1904. It has a poem entitled Lost. And it reads. Lost. Somewhere Between Sunrise and Sunset. Two Golden Hours. Each Set with Sixty Diamond Minutes. No Reward is Offered. For They are Lost FOREVER. It was done at the Darenth Schools of Dartford in Kent England and dated 1904. The school was opened in 1878 and was called The Darenth School for Imbecile Children. The stitch work is very well done in golden thread and Golden beads and silver beads that sparkle and stand out nicely when viewed in person. Has a couple of paper rips in the top right corner. It also has some brown dicoloration on the Darenth at the bottom of the paper. The frame measures approx. 22 across by 29 up and down. It is Beautifully Embroidered and also has Dried Leaves as a decoration. It reads: Jesus Mary Joseph! Unto thee I give my Heart and Soul. It comes in the Original Hand Painted Victorian frame. It is lined with a Gilt wood insert underneath the glass. Circa: Late 1800's to early 1900's Size: Print is 12 inches by 16 inches Frame is 18 inches by 22 inches. One of a pair of antique school samplers worked in coloured wools by two sisters from St Leonards School. Dunfermline for their school standard examination, grade IV. This one is by Barbara Black aged 9. Records show that Barbara was born in 1874 which means that the sampler was made in 1883. The girls' father John was a printer and Barbara went on to become a milliner It is in good. Clean, unfaded condition, bound with green tape and backed with paper. This is a Wonderful Antique Embroidered Sampler. Home Sweet Home" It was professionally framed by Swasey's of Berkeley. California. I would like to see the Sampler stretched a bit tighter. Exquisite Antique Miniature Georgian Era Sampler
Up for auction is a beautiful and early miniature English Georgian-era sampler. It is minutely-stitched. Worked in silk on a linen ground, and measuring a mere 7 1/2 by 6 inches. The girl who made this lovely piece stitched her initials"MD" in the center bottom, and I believe she made this under the reign of King George. I say this because right above her initials are a crown with a K and G on either side. That dates this piece to the late 1700s or early 1800s. This sampler is very neatly worked in the tiniest of stitches. And it features a red applique border all the way around, the entire alphabet in capital letters, below this the numerals 1 through 10 followed by the entire alphabet in lower case letters, and then the alphabet again but this time the letters in capital script. Under these alphabets and numbers, Ms. MD" ... morethen stitched an array of 21 different small monarch crowns, each one different and most having a letter beside them. At the very bottom of her piece she stitched two little dogs with curly tails and two little flower urns. All in all, her stitches were tiny and uniform in tightness, and her composition is pleasing. This sampler is in very good condition, although there is age darkening of the ground(fairly uniform) Remarkably, there are very few holes or tears in this piece, and no color runs. This piece is currently framed in a simple gold gilt frame. The tag on the back indicates it was framed by Ken McCallister. Inc. in Dayton, Ohio on December 28, 1979. Description: Band sampler dated 1867. The name is not clear but I do see that is says Emma Km and then Minger as best I can see it. There are about 3 strips of floral stitching across the sampler. The alphabet is all done in upper case& in different types of font. I am not sure of the material used. But it is a very coarse fabric. The thread appears to be wool. The edge is done in silk. It seems that the seamstress added a piece on the bottom to make it longer. The silk material was used again there to put the extra piece on. The sampler measures 45" tall& 15" wide. It was framed in Cincinnate and based on the condition of the paper backing. It was framed a very long time ago. The paper is very fragile. BUT the frame and framing is still in excellent condition. This piece was obtained from an estate sale. I have seen dozens of good Samplers over my years and this is, by far. One of the best for color, clarity, and condition. The thread is carefully placed in the burlap style material and pulled tight. The overall color is still good and the layout is perfect. The Sampler measures 19" x 14.5" and weights about 4 lbs. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SCOTTISH SCHOOL SAMPLER - TILLY BLACK - DUNFERMLINE 1886
The second of a pair of antique school samplers worked in coloured wools by the two Black sisters from St Leonards School. Dunfermline for their school standard examination, grade IV. This one is by Tilly Black aged 9. Records show that Tilly was born in 1877 which means that the sampler was made in 1886. Tilly appears on the Scottish census as Mathilda and grew up to become a dressmaker and later became a saleswoman for Singer Sewing Machines. It is in good. Clean, unfaded condition, bound with green tape and backed with paper. It measures about 12.5 by 6.75 inches(32 by 17 cm. The photos can be enlarged for more detail. repro antique cross stitch sampler +/- 24"x19" framed
Very nice reproduction antique American cross stitch sampler framed and under glass. About 24 inches by about 19 inches. This sampler is a vintage reproduction very well done and is under non-glare glass within a frame. This sampler is worked in what is probably cotton threads in cross stitch which is competently done. The sampler is in good vintage condition with a few very small spots of yellow such as one that may be seen by the photo close up of the tree with snake climbing the trunk. The colors of the sampler are pink. A blueish green, an olive green, a yellow and a very light brown on what is probably cotton which is just slightly and authentically off white in color. This is patterned after a 19th century American sampler. Possibly Quaker. There is a border of stylized strawberries. A central large house with a man to one side and ... morea woman to the other. The test reads.Give me a house to call my own Family and friends to make it a home Love and kindness that ne'er will depart Enough to fill a thankful heart" The sampler has a cardboard backing which has. In pencil the initials"K.E.S" and the date 1971. The sampler is adhered around the edges to the cardboard on the back but is not glued down on the front of the sampler. I have had good success with sending framed under glass pieces via UPS Ground. I fit a piece of protective cardboard to the face of the glass. I fully expect that this should arrive with glass intact but do not guarantee the glass. This sampler is of an unusual size and this frame is specially made for the piece and is not a'ready made size' The frame is very nice. Understated and appropriate and is possibly walnut wood. To have this piece framed would cost probably the better part of 130 $. As it is it's ready to be hung. With hanging wire attached to the back. I like to send things sooner than 5 days after receiving payment. The shipping calculation will include a 15$ packaging and handling expense. I use recycled materials for packaging when I am able to.

19th Century Needlework Sampler Sheep& Alphabet on Linen*Beautiful Original Piece! Description We are pleased to offer this beautiful 19th Century Needlepoint Sampler made by Martha in the year 1842. The total dimensions of the fabric. Which we believe to be linen, is 13 1/4" wide by 10 1/8" high. The actual work measures 9 1/4" wide by 7 1/8" high and features a black sheep with yellow and white collar standing on green grass. The border consists of a series of red blocks containing the letters of the alphabet in either pale blue and navy blue. The"worked by Martha 1842" signature is in mossy green. This piece has been mounted on a piece of foam. A mid-tone blue frame is included(no glass) and measures 12 7/8" wide by 10 5/8" high. There are numerous stains all around this piece(see photos 17-19) Which appear as light coffee- colored stains. We believe the fabric used for this piece is linen and have provided a close-up photo with the light shining through it for your confirmation(see photo 20) The fabric has been mounted on a 1/4" piece of foam with attached cardboard backing(see photo 14) The frame is attractive, but is not of any quality. 15.00 Here is a vintage or antique hand worked sampler of the Lord’s Prayer on linen. The sampler is finely embroidered with a wonderful floral border. And the prayer is worked in lovely sweet and cheerful colors. The artist or artists have loaded this linen with an abundance of folksy flavor. The sampler is beautifully and professionally framed in a gold wood frame, and is signed on the back“To Agnes on her birthday July 1955 from Evalyn Graber and Mrs. Emma(last name I am unsure of) We have no way of knowing exactly when the sampler was made but the note tells us that it was gifted in 1955 and in a frame of that time.
